I decided to go see Gunnar at Black Sparrow for my first tattoo and I'm so glad I did! With it being my first tattoo, I was extremely nervous but everyone in the shop made me feel so comfortable about it. Everyone was professional and the shop was tidy. So I called in on Monday and was asked to come for a quote. Which was simple and sweet, got set up for a tattoo on that Thursday. Which would work out for my schedule, I fly out that Friday. Showed up on the of for the tattoo and the artist wasn't there( he had something come up, which is cool I'm not mad about that. We are all human) KC the owner stepped up and did something I don't see a lot of anymore. He made sure I was seen that day. he asked me to come back later on that day which I did. He worked me into his schedule and hooked me up with one of, what's going to turn in my favorite tattoo. I will be a forever customer. His work is great and his handling of his business on point. Justin did an outstanding job on my cover-up tattoo and came up with the design in less than 24 hours!!!! I'm very anxious when it come to needles surprisingly and he was awesome the entire time. I'm currently getting a leg piece done by KC. I went in with a picture off Pinterest and he fully customized it to flow with my leg. It looks better than the picture I took in. He's a great artist. I've been dealing with KC for several years and have had him do some major work. 2 sleeves both of them include a lot of cover ups and have been more than pleased with him. No other artist will do the work on me except KC! I haven't had any work done by Isiah but I have seen hours of his work and his talent is stellar. Don't get me wrong I love my tattoo, but I was less than thrilled with my experience with Black Sparrow Tattoo shop, Isaiah or KC. When I arrived for my initial appt with Isaiah he wasn't prepared and I sat around for 2-3hrs. When my friend who had come along with me said something to the shop owner. He pulled me aside and reassured me that things would go well and that we could start the tattoo but that we wouldn't get as much done on it because it was so let. I agreed t...o stay and let Isaiah do the work. I left the shop happy with the start of a beautiful tattoo but feel as though my time was not valued. I went back in about a month later to have my tattoo finished up. The second visit with Isaiah was better. He told me to call and come back in about a month later and that we could touch up if neccessary. When I called to schedule that appt I was told that Isaiah no longer worked there. No big deal, I agreed to swing by in person and let KC take a look at how the tattoo was healing. He wanted me to come back, so I scheduled an appt for a month out. I received a voicemail the day prior to remind me of my appt. The day off my tattoo I drive 45mins from my home. Only to arrive to a shop that has locked doors and that the lights are off. I try to call the business phone with no response. The next day I get a FB message apologizing to me and letting me know how it was all a misunderstanding and telling me that they will call me and we will get this all worked out. Well here we are 4-5 days later and I still haven't received that call. I will not be returning to this shop nor will I be reccomending it to any of my friends. See More Read Less

I really am blown away with the talent and skill that KC has , also blown away that Moncks Corner has a shop like this.I have been here all my life ,I know in order to get good work done you would have to travel out of state ,now its only not even 10 minutes away , I'm goin on my second week since we started my sleeve ,I have been getting a lot of compliments on the new ink and people are shocked that I got it in MC , I can't wait to see what else they throw down when I go back . I had explained my long thought out and carefully planned tattoo to KC, it seemed he understood. when I went back a month later to explain my unhappiness, he told me all he had to do to make this over inked and muddy thing on my arm look 3d and life like was put some white in it. Still willing to allow him to save it, I showed up for my appointment a week later, to be told he cancelled an hour ago. I explained carefully and with polite detail to his assistant that he needed to call me, that was nearly a month ago. I have since spoken to several highly respected and established artists. It's going to cost me an additional $ 600.00 to save just what he has done to my arm. And then more yet to finish it.
