Wow. This place was amazing. Definitely at the top of my list of places we are at while we were in Charleston. We went for dinner around 6:30 and had no problem finding a place for the six of us to sit, but by the time we left larger groups were having to wait for tables.I got the thanksgiving sandwich, and it was one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in my life. Bar food at its best!  Off the beaten path - you must drive or uber from the Market area to get here.  But if it is a Burger, or Duck Club or Cuban sandwich and Duck Dat Fries with Blue Cheese and Garlic that you crave - it is well worth it.Dive bar atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating.  Grab a Sharpie and a beer and scribble anywhere you like - on the tables, on the walls, on the light fixtures, on the barstools...  We have always had great service.  The place does get busy.  Family atmosphere during the day.  Our favorite is a basket of fries smothered on blue cheese sauce that comes with an entire bulb of roasted garlic.  You squeeze the garlic goodness on top of the fries and proceed to indulge.  Absolute heaven.They are famous for Mike's Duck Club which everyone raves about. I absolutely love this place and come here every time I visit Charleston. The gourmet sandwiches here are unexpectedly delicious and some of the best sandwiches I've EVER had! I always order the thanksgiving Sammy with duck fat fries on the side, and taste everyone else's food lol. Y'all! The thanksgiving Sammy is literally what it's called...you get Thanksgiving all in one bite, AND it comes with gravy to dip your sandwich in! Tattooed Moose is a cool spot. People have written their names all over the walls and tables and they even provide you a marker to add your own name. The vibe is really chill and laid back, not quite grungy but definitively not into pomp and circumstance being they have water in an Igloo cooler for the servers to use to refill your glass. The menu and bar list looked really cool and even had me thinking I should bring my wife back to this location to have dinner sometime. I had a Cobb Salad and it's certainly a nontraditional Cobb but it was excellent. I'd never had a pickled egg before but now I want more. Now, the issue I'm having is how come the server was hateful to my coworker when they miscommunicated over his drink order. Makes me second guess my willingness to take my wife to dinner at this establishment. I recognize everyone has a bad day but I'm worried my wife will be treated like my coworker. If you don't come here while in Charleston, you're doing yourself a disservice. I'm more of a lurker than reviewer on Yelp, but when my wife and I have a fantastic meal, I have to shout out the establishment. Yes, this place is a dive bar, but don't let that discourage you. The beers and especially the food are simply outstanding. I had the tattooed moose burger and it was crazy good. Be warned, it is a double patty - and I'm not a big guy - but I scarfed that burger down. It is easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. Yes, EVER had! We had an opportunity to visit the Tattooed Moose this weekend and it pretty much lived up to the stories told to us. It is a true "dive bar" so there's nothing fancy to it at all. This establishment has a very unique and memorable easy-going vibe and we enjoyed it. We went for lunch before the drive home to the Upstate, so didn't partake of the adult beverages. Service was fine and there are a lot of food options to choose from. We were satisfied with ours, but were not as "wowed" as some people have been. They were on the greasy side, which tended to make the sandwiches a little soggy in fairly short order. So no 5 stars, but no horrors either. I'd say definitely worth visiting at least once. My friends live in Charleston and had eaten here before but this was my first visit. So we dropped by for a late lunch last Saturday while we were out doing some shopping nearby. I liked the funky vibe and the food was excellent! Our server was friendly and helpful. I wasn't overly hungry so I got the grilled cheese w/ tomato.  The bread was thick, crusty and delish! Best grilled cheese I have had in a long time. We split a large order of duck fat fries for our table of 4 and there was plenty for all. Tattooed Moose came recommended to me in a number of ways:  feedback from locals, YELP & Tripadvisor reviews, and someone I met while in town.  I left wondering how in the world it gets such raving reviews.  My experience was very lacking in both food and service.  I sat down and looked over the menu and was hard-pressed to find anything that sounded worth spending a meal in Charleston, so I just decided upon a couple of appetizers and a beer.  The first beer I ordered they were out of.  OK, strike one.  So I ordered another along with the nacho pork rinds and the duck fat fries.  The beer was cold and that is about the highest compliment I can give this place.  Oh and they had both inside and outside seating available.  The fries were reminiscent of Steak & Shake's skinny fries, or as some would say "shoestring" fries.  I couldn't taste anything remarkable about them but that may have been since they were overcooked.  They had the texture of those potato fries you buy in the container at the grocery store and they didn't taste much better.  They didn't taste bad just overcooked and unremarkable.  The aioli was fine.Next up were the pork rinds with the nacho topping.  Basically tasted like Hormel chili accompanied by some melted cheese whiz.  Whatever.The worst part of the whole experience was the service staff.  They are an apathetic group of servers if ever I have seen one.  No effort whatsoever to develop any rapport with the customer and one was fairly surly.  My suggestion is to give it a miss.  Charleston has an abundance of restaurants serving fantastic food and servers who demonstrate hospitality and that wonderful Charleston charm, neither of which I found at the Moose. I flew into Charleston at midnight and unlike my town of SF where things are open late, my friend and I had slim pickings to get food past midnight on a Tuesday. We ended up at Tattooed Moose. Let me just say that this place's vibe seems very biker bar BUT everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Our server Lydia was bomb! I went with the suggestions of other reviews which was to get the philly cheesesteak eggrolls and the duck club sandwich with duck fat fries. EVERYTHING was delicious! My wife and I have driven past here plenty of times and have always wondered if it was any good. Well we finally got the chance to eat here on May 4, 2019 for dinner.  The staff was friendly and the place appeared to be clean. Although not very large they have both inside and outside dining.     Upon entering we were immediately greeted and then seated. Our server quickly took our drink order and shortly after she took our food order. While we waited for our food I took in the character of this place. It was unique. They have markers on the tables so you can write messages on the walls or tables. Which in away allows you to become part of this place. The beer fridge was unique in the fact that it looked like it was old and constructed out of glass and wood. They also had a pin ball machine which added to the character. Even the floor tiles appeared to be vintage. I could also see part of the kitchen from where I was sitting and noticed that the cooks were wearing gloves while preparing the food which is always nice to know.     The food was very good. They have some unique items on the menu like the Thanksgiving Sammy, which was a turkey sandwich that my wife thought was delicious. I just had a burger and it was very good. We also ordered the duck fat fries. These fries were well seasoned and full of flavor. We also had corn dogs. It is safe to say that all of the food hit the spot.     The service was very fast and good. Our drinks never emptied. Never disappoints! Good casual, dicey atmosphere and casual menu but each item steps it up a notch.The pickles are amazing and add a Charleston touch to everything. The Cobb salad is generous enough to share and not your mundane Cobb with house pickled eggs, avocado, chunks of fresh turkey, and light but substantial dressing. The sandwich ingredients are fresh, carefully prepared and every time I go I wonder why I don't eat there more often! If you want a divey kind of place with strong drinks and decent, greasy food, this is it. I ended up ordering the burger with pork belly, and while the pork portion was great, the burger was dry and just kind of boring. It just tasted like a plain burger and didn't have any flavors that stood out.  I will say that the duck fat fries with the garlic was worth the hype and that alone is worth coming here.  While I would have prefer a thicker cut of the fries, the combination of the blue cheese sauce and garlic made this the perfect side. Overall I was very happy. On an absolute scale this is probably a 4 - everything was very satisfactory but nothing dazzled me. However, getting food this good at midnight (I arrived at 11:30pm) is uncommon. I'll give a bonus point for that. Excellent!!! We stopped in after visiting the Charleston Tea Plantation for a quick lunch and we already want to go back! We got seated right away and asked our waitress what we should order because we had never been, and we don't regret doing that at all. We ended up getting the duck confit club and the chicken salad sandwich. The duck was absolutely delicious and my boyfriend force fed himself the entire sandwich because it was so big but so so so good! The chicken salad was smoky (unique) but easily one of my top 5 chicken salads ever (and I'm a chicken salad snob). We got fries cooked in duck oil served with a garlic aioli, they were delightful. The waitress also suggested the cauliflower casserole and we were hesitant at first but it was the best way that vegetables could ever be served... covered in bacon and cheese. I have been to and am a big fan of both Moose locations. The food is consistently delicious gut luggage. Every time I visit, I always have to go with the famous Duck Club sandwich - usually trying to get someone to go halfsies because it's a whole lotta sandwich. The burger is another fantastic option and no matter what you order, you must make sure to get at least a side of the duck fat fries. I walked into this bar after an 8 hour flight and was welcomed.  Not only by the bartender but the customers.  I was invited to play a card game.  I'm sorry did I not play but I was to involved with my food.  Duck sandwich was amazing. Sandwich presented in a much-too-small basket, jammed together so long toothpicks from both halves kept sandwich from being picked up. This is really a cool spot in Charleston that not many people know about. It's sort of a dive/hipster vibe to the place. Price is about average for Charleston bars but not as high as some. It's a little far uptown but if your willing to head out there it's a cool bar to check out.Draft/beer selection is good and reasonably priced. The IPA's and craft beers are a bit pricey but also normal. Food is really good. Can't go wrong with the burgers. Food is a little expensive for a bar but honestly it's worth it.Bar and wait staff are very attentive and friendly and I've never had a problem going there. My complaints are it's location and some of its pricing on drinks. You do really have to go out of your way to find it but it's worth it. The food was very good! The roasted garlic and blue cheese fries were my favorite thing!! The blue cheese sauce and the sweetness of the roasted garlic was amazing! I also ordered the gyro sandwich and cauliflower casserole! Seasoned well and full of flavor. The gyro could have used more yogurt sauce and the casserole more hot sauce but still delicious. The Tattooed Moose was a great experience. When we first walked in, it was festively decorated for Halloween. The atmosphere was great and there was always something to look at. We ordered the Super Melty Grilled Cheese which fit the name, Thanksgiving Sammie, and Duck Club sandwich which did not disappoint. We really enjoy this Tattooed Moose location when we are downtown and need our fix of duck fat garlic fries. That is if we can find a parking spot, parking is pretty limited on the road; but you can usually find a spot if you look.We love coming here having a few craft drafts with a Thanksgiving Sammy and order of Duck Fat Fries with Garlic and Blue Cheese. Always an excellent combo; so I haven't switched it up there yet. Service here is always great. We tend to sit at the bar area as we know the bartenders will be there with us the whole time making sure my craft is filled. This is a great spot to go to lunch (or pre-happy hour or happy hour) with you co-workers if you work downtown. It's also a nice spot to meet with friends. We rode our motorcycles here for Sunday Brunch. I checked in with my yelp App so I found my favorite member of the Moose Crew and I got myself a free Fist pump!! The parking lot was a little tight but we came on bikes so parking was not an issue for us.  The decor was a mix between  "wilderness/cabin meets the city/dive" LOL. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and took our orders without any snags. The service was immediate and the food was perfectly prepared. I ordered the Monte Cristo-Roasted turkey, ham, and cheese  layered between sweet french toast and served with syrup on the side along with  a side of the duck fat fries. The duck fat gave the fries a seasoned meaty flavor. The duck fat fries  were crispy but not over-fried, stiff or burnt. You can't go wrong with washing down your delicious food with Southern Style Sweet Tea. I don't know if it's the cane sugar, the tea bags or if someone put there foot in it but the tea was phenomenal!  I had to get the stickiness off my hands from the syrup so I went to the bathroom. WHOA!!! The bathroom looked like a graffiti shrine so I had to videotape myself along with all of the thousands of folks who have taken their time from conducting their business to sign in. What a cool place - the atmosphere is the epitome of a divey bar with phenomenal food. If this is your first time - you MUST order the egg roll appetizer is to die for. Filled with mac and cheese and steak, these are a "must-try". We also ordered the grilled cheese, Thanksgiving turkey sandwich & burger with pimento cheese and nothing disappointed !! All time favorite that I would go back for was the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich for sure. We visited the Tattooed Moose to finish off our honeymoon in Charleston, SC. Out of all the restaurants we visited while in the area, we were most excited about this one, based on the many reviews we had read. The restaurant has a lot of character; a local pub with a lot of hand-carved names on the table tops and various pictures stuck to the walls. The giant moose head overlooking the bar creates quite a spectacle. We started with beer. It's always tough navigating the beer selections when in a city away from home, as our go-to local options are not available. I tried a sour beer from D9, with which I was pleased. My husband had a Delirium Tremens, one of his go-to's. Both were served in a tall-boy can stuck inside a glass. For our meal we ordered the famous duck club with the roasted garlic and bleu cheese covered duck-fat fries. We decided to share both the sandwich and the fries, as the portion sizes are rather large and we both had a heavy breakfast. We still took over half of our food with us. I took only a bite or two of the duck club, as it reminded me of pulled pork-and was quite caloric. It was fun squeezing the roasted garlic out of the head, covering the fries with the aromatic flavor. Overall I give the Tattooed Moose a solid 4 Stars, if for nothing but the fun atmosphere and unique food combinations. Dog friendly! A very nice porch to hang with our two pit bulls over a late dinner. We had the duck fries (yummy - but nothing THAT special) and the mac & cheese in egg roll (not much flavor, but love the concept).My husband is a BIG snob about Reuben sandwiches. I realize this place has it's special dishes that are definitely out of the ordinary, but if you want a damn good Reuben - here is the place.I had the burger, for I was craving one, and it didn't let me down. I was told upfront that this place was a true dive bar, with great food. That is a correct description. The duck club is a signatory dish they offer, my husband loved it. The one star I’m giving is for my entree, I ordered the chicken salad, I wish that I had taken a photo of it for proof of just how disgusting it looked on the plate. The smoked flavor of the meat left a less than desirable taste in the mouth and the bacon strips on the side were greatly undercooked. For the money spent, we should have had a better experience. Stopped in for dinner a few weeks ago - I've enjoyed the JI Tattooed Moose for a while now and have been driving by the original, so it was time to go. This is so chill, a little dive-y look to it but it's so comfortable and they've got amazing beer on tap. We ordered two sandwiches - the duck club (of which I had a couple of bites) and the Thanksgiving sammy (my choice!). Both were mouth-wateringly delicious when set down in front of us and the taste did not disappoint, either. We split an order of the duck fat fries, which is my favorite offering here. YUM. We wanted to grab something near downtown but on the way towards the airport on our way out of Charleston. I had seen the Tattooed Moose on Yelp while researching the trip, and we decided it was a good place to stop. After a week of eating heavy vacation food, I was hesitant to eat bar food, but i was pleasantly surprised! My date had a Cuban, and I had the Thanksgiving Sammy (minus the mayo).  Both were great, but I totally preferred mine! The sandwiches came with pickle slices, but no other sides. If we were hungrier, I would have gotten an order of the fries, but we were actually happy to have just the sandwiches. We ordered bloodies/beer that were delicious as well! Totally recommend! The Tattooed Moose is amazing and worth a little wait if there is one! The duck fat fries with blue cheese sauce are SO flavorful and rich, but they're one of those dishes that if you like them, you will be laying in bed a couple weeks later craving them. This local dive has been apart of the community for a long time. The original downtown location use to stand alone at the outskirts of town but the city has come to meet it. Meh. Decided to give this place a try since we were in the neighborhood. OK so I get it, this is  considered a dive bar: Dark interior, dingy decor, lackluster bar service and an array of beers coupled with typical pub foods. I ordered the duck fat fries with the cheese and the roasted garlic and my wife ordered the Cuban. The food came out piping hot but the taste of the foods as just.. meh. Not good, not bad...but typical. The beer selections was vast so that was a plus, but other then that I was less than impressed. Utterly speechless at this place. We googled "best bloody Mary's in Charleston" and this place was on the list. We drove to this dive bar from our bed and breakfast and loved the initial "dive" atmosphere. My fiancé was skeptical and wanted to take me to a fancy brunch, but I was immediately in love with this place. By FAR the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Even compared to the ones I ranked number one previously in New Orleans. And the food. I can't even do justice to describing the food we had. We ordered the "garbage plate" and the Monte Cristo. I would travel all the way to Charleston for a day trip just to eat this food again.  Absolutely outstanding. The tattooed moose was awesome! The atmosphere is fun and hip. The service was great. The beer selection was on point. And the food was fantastic. It got the late night egg rolls. They could have been my meal. They were stuffed with Mac and cheese and shaved ribeye. The smokey tomato dipping sauce was the perfect pairing. For my meal I got Mikes Famous Duck Club! It was insane! All the flavors paired so well! The Duck confit w/ applewood smoked bacon and hickory smoked cheddar on grilled Hawaiian bread slathered in garlic aioli.  And of course I got the fries, fried in duck fat! It was drool worthy! This is a cute, classy, dive bar. I know those are oxymorons, but this place makes them work! I had the chicken salad club. It was a unique, delicious twist. It came with yellow and red tomatoes, tons of bacon, and tasty chicken salad. My wife and I split the blue cheese garlic fries. They were good, but heavy. I think the plain fries would be enough but I'm glad I tried them. My father in-law devoured his burger and said it was really good. Great beer selection and awesome service. I normally love this place. The food is great and it has a cool atmosphere. Today the service really sucked so I'm not sure if it was just a random thing or what. It wasn't even that busy and our waitress didn't bring us refills even if we asked. Literally waited 15 minutes for a coke and she didn't even come by to check on us. I visit family in Charleston and try to go here each time. You should literally try everything! The chili and brunswick stew stew are fantastic! The duck fat fries are glutinously delicious. Whenever I can't make up my mind what I want to eat at a resto, I always look at previous reviews to see what the general consensus is as to what's the best bet. That's how I thankfully took a risk and ordered a sandwich I probably would've never ordered on my own: the Thanksgiving Sammy! I love sweet and savory flavors mixed together and this sandwich does its namesake justice. It takes like the greatest freshest Turkey Day leftovers sandwich! It gives me Monte Cristo vibes but with more complex flavors and less greasiness. I was worried the stuffing might dry out the sandwich or make it crumbly but it works so well. The other ubiquitous item in everyone's reviews are the Duck Fat Fries. Unfortunately when we went on a Tuesday around 8, they were out of Blue Cheese fondue so we just got plain Duck Fat fries. I originally learned about the Tattooed Moose from one of my favorite TV Shows...Diners, Drive Ins and Dives! You can always trust Guy Fieri and his recommendations. He nailed this one on the head. My husband and I decided to split the Thanksgiving Sammy. We love the concept of Thanksgiving on a Sandwich. The flavors were so spot on between the turkey, cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo. Easily, this is one of my favorite sandwiches. With the sandwich being as full as it was with ingredients, we didn't feel the need to get our own which is why we decided to split it. We also split the Duck Fat Fries...wow. We crushed our fries! They were so good. Initially, my husband was hesitate because he didn't like the idea of duck fat. I kept reminding him its just flavoring, mind over matter here. I'm glad he did! Tattooed Moose is a great little bar further away from the hustle and bustle of main downtown Charleston roads. But the reason I come here isn't the drinks, it's definitely the food. The duck club and duck fat fries are amazing! The club comes with duck confit, bacon, lettuce, cheddar, red onion, tomatoes, and garlic aioli (I got it without tomatoes). The meat in the club was so tender and the flavors all together were top notch. I especially love their garlic aioli, which the fries come with as well. The club is a bit messy to eat but it's well worth the struggle. The fries themselves are so good; frying them in the duck fat adds such a great crisp and flavor. My friend got the burger with pimento cheese which she enjoyed as well. I will definitely come here again to try the other sandwiches! And of course to eat those fries again. Read Less

My first night in Charleston we came to the tattooed Moose after it came highly recommended for their duck sandwich.  My friends insisted on coming bc the duck was that memorable.When walking in the restaurant looked like a typical dive bar with tables.  We ordered beers and took advantage of the happy hour menu and ordered corn dogs.  The corn dogs came 2 per order for $2.50 but. Unfortunately we did not like them.  The breading was delicious but the hotdog itself was very pink and mushy and tasted funky.  Since we only spent $2.50 we were too bothered by not being able to eat them.For dinner, since I am not a fan of duck, I got the pork sandwich.  The pork wasn't pulled but sliced thin which was excellent.  Lightly covered in tasty bbq sauce and topped with bacon and crispy fried onions...it was amazing!  I also got a side of duck fat fries which were super flavorful.  the fries were thin and my batch they were short so i must have gotten the end of the pile. My friends fries were a bit longer.  Regardless they were delicious.  My friends said their duck sandwiches were really good but not as good as they once remembered.  Either nothing is as good as your first or the sandwich was different from what they had.  If you are looking for a super casual, low key, bar food type of meal then this place is great.  I only rated it 3 stars bc compared to the other restaurants in Charleston there are better options. Customer service was great. Our server was very fast and checked on us regularly. I didn't like the fact that my sandwich was so soggy that I had to turn it upside down to prevent it from falling apart. It was literally wet. The cheese looked kind of old too. For our second night in Charleston, we decided stay cheap and just get beer and fries. But if you're just in the mood for beer and fries, Tattooed Moose is definitely the place to go! I've been here multiple times and have gotten a wide range of service. It did take a little while for us to get someone to take our drink order. What saved the experience for us was the dessert. I've heard this place serves duck confit, and when I researched this place, I absolutely had to try this place. Boy, was I glad I stopped by.I ordered the Mike's Famous Duck Club for $14.75 which comes with the following: duck confit, applewood smoked bacon, hickory smoked cheddar, topped with garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on sweet Hawaiian bread. The club is a la cartè, and a side of fries cost $2.50. The fries are not regular; the fries are fried in duck fat with a side of garlic aioli. I also got a bowl of gravy for $1. The sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever put into my mouth. The fries were too fatty/greasy, and the garlic aioli complemented the fries really well! Finally made it to try the famous "Duck Club" I was not disappointed.  The Hawaiian bread used really made the sandwich for me.  The garlic aioli sauce is outstanding. Not sure if I'm a "duck confit" fan but this sandwich did not disappoint and look forward to my next visit to try one of the many other sandwiches on their menu. The one thing I was really looking forward to was the roasted garlic bleu cheese fries.  I didn't enjoy these as much as I'd hoped. Maybe just the day, they were a little soggy for me, yes I know with all the toppings I didn't expect crunch but just didn't enjoy as I'd hoped but could be I was stuffed from the fantastic sandwich!  The atmosphere is fantastic, loved all the "stuff" hanging around and all the handwritten comments from all over. This place is definitely what you would describe as a dive bar but the food is definitely worth a stop in even if you just get the fries. Like I've said in previous post I'm a pescatarian but this time I had to order the fries that are fried in duck fat; I had both the plain and the garlic bulb-blue cheese fries. Both were good but the plain fries were out of this world awesome! Perfectly crispy and salted (seasoned). The garlic bulb-blue cheese fries were also very good but because of the delicious only for the daring taste bud toppings the fries became slightly soggy but still very tasty.The people I ate with ordered the burger with bacon; if you order the burger be warned you will not be given a choice of temperature as the waitress said "they don't do that here". So you get what you get and don't get upset. - more importantly they said the burger was definitely a good choice. The Cuban was also ordered by a member in my crew and it was reported that it was delicious, slightly different than a normal Cuban because there was a slight sweetness but definitely a repeat dish. The Duck Club is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It perfectly balances sweet and savory. No flavor overwhelms another and each can be tasted perfectly in the sandwich. You can taste the sweetness of the Hawaiian bread, the oily richness of the duck, the creamy cheddar cheese, the crisp salty bacon. This sandwich has fantastic textures and flavors. I saw the reviews of duck fat fries and had to make a stop at this dive bar while visiting Charleston. These fries did not disappoint! We got here in time for happy hour with a discount on the fries (half off, maybe??). The beers on tap are pricier than I'm used to. They were all at least $7. My hometown is having a kind of craft beer renaissance and the standard price is $5. $7 is pushing it for one beer.They play good music. Read Less

Hubby and I were making our rounds after the Tall Ship adventure and we just had to check this place out. We only stopped for a drink on our drink tour of Charleston so I won't be able to comment on food.We walked in and the inside is small, unless there are magic rooms, what you see is what you'll get. They have outside deck seating which is nice. We had a blast reading the graffiti that was on the deck railings, door frames, tables, and anywhere you could squeeze in something to saying was "Roses are red, Harambe is black, catch me outside, how bow dah".... totally cracked us up. We are obviously easily amused.We had a few people check on us so our order was put in fairly quickly so A+ on customer service.All walks of life go to this place...there were old people like hubby and myself and even older than us, plus you had the hipsters and families and so forth. Really cool, laid back vibe.Can't wait to come back and try their food as it looked really good as it walked by.The only negative thing about this joint is their parking issue. Do not, I repeat, do NOT park in the lot directly to the right of Tattooed Moose or you WILL be towed. They have street parking and a parking lot across the 4-lane road. Tattooed Moose is definitely a divey, low-key, casually hip, hole-in-the-wall bar. However, they do have a full kitchen and a good sized menu of food and I've always been satisfied with my meal (wings, burger, sandwiches). My most recent visit was mainly to grab a couple beers with friends but we couldn't resist sharing some duck fat fries. They're stringy, hand cut, crispy and thin fries served with a garlic aioli. The aioli is tasty but also very rich so I typically end up using more ketchup, but I'm pretty sure the fries would be delicious no matter what you dipped them in. You have two size options, which the waitress explained were basically one potato with the side and two potatoes in the basket. Four of us split the basket and there were definitely more than enough fries for us to all get our fill and fair share. They have a really good variety of beers in bottles/cans, but they only have maybe 5-6 taps offered. Maybe we just tried to order the more popular of the drafts, but two of their options were empty kegs when we ordered so I felt like there was a lot of back and forth with the decision making and they never actually crossed off the tapped out kegs from the chalkboard list. After checking out a few local breweries we came across the Tattooed Moose and I am sure glad we did - we hit up this place at just the right time: Happy Hour! They have awesome happy hour specials for drinks and food!We were are the restaurant around 4pm on a Monday afternoon (vacation!) so the place was busy but not too crowded so we grabbed a table and a couple of beers. The place is COVERED in signatures, quotes, and "Bryan wuz here" 's so it was definitely entertaining to read these. Now I could't leave this review without talking about their wings...because they are some of the best wings I have ever had! They fry them in duck fat and they were amazing - it also helped that they were on the happy hour special so they were .75cents a wing and they were big! For a dive bar, this place has really good food and service and is really one of a kind. At the beginning of their night, they started playing 80's music (e.g. Micheal Jackson's Just Beat it) and then they switched to throw back feel good 2000's music which I really liked and couldn't help but sing along to. The restaurant is dimly light and they have random signs, moose/deer heads on the walls, and random posters on the wall as decor. They have two arcade games on the left side of the restaurant, a pinball machine and a deer hunting simulator. Their restrooms are labeled with unicorns and have lots of graffiti which is fitting for the dive bar kinda environment.I'm considering coming here for Thanksgiving this year because of how good their Thanksgiving Sammy tastes! It comes complete with turkey, cranberry sauce, cornbread stuffing, and even gravy on the side. Their duck fat fries are also very AMAZING and they came out as a huge serving portion and were very crispy and flavorful. For drinks, we got lemon drop shots and vodka cranberries which were all good.I have no complaints about their service. I went with my friends for a late dinner on a Sunday night and they were a little busy. We got seated pretty quick and got good service when it came to our food and drinks.Overall, this place is a really cool and hip place that's fun for a chill night with friends. I lived in South Carolina for almost a year and somehow never got around to visiting the Tattooed Moose. I was recently back in Charleston for work, and made sure to stop in. I stopped by for a late night dinner on my way to the hotel from the airport- the notorious duck club with duck fat fries. It was delightful. I got so excited about the fries, I didn't save enough room to finish the entire club. This place looks a little grungy compared to most restaurants/bars in Charleston. Once you get settled in, this place becomes kind of cozy. I had planned on grabbing some food and moving along to get some work done before the next day; I instead spent several hours here and made a few new friends at the bar. Service was okay. The Duck Club is where it's at. We came here for the famous sammy after eating a pizza and got one club to split between the four of us. They cut it up into four pieces, which I thought was a nice touch.The Tattooed Moose is a hip place with a great playlist. We enjoyed sitting here and enjoying the good music they had playing; it felt like there was a DJ here. Loved their music selection.The duck club features duck confit, smoked bacon (so crispy and good), & garlic aioli with hickory smoked cheddar and the basics: lettuce, tomato, red onion (and a pickle!). The bread it comes with is heavenly as well. Each (small bite) we had was delightful and I'd definitely recommend anyone try this sandwich if they are passing through the area.
