There are very few reviews I will take the time to write. Frankly I think it is better to talk with someone personally who has used that business’ services. That said, I started going to this shop on a walk in Saturday. It was to get matching tats with my sweetie. I fell in love! I have never felt so welcomed in a place. This was my first tattoo. It was in memory of our amazing daughter (20) who passed away after battling cancer for three years. I came in a few weeks ago and thumbed through all of the artists' portfolios. I honestly couldn't decide whose artwork was my favorite because all of it was beautiful and unique. I left the shop and asked a few friends about Holy City and they immediately recommended Dennis. I went back to speak with Dennis and he seemed enthusiastic about the tattoo idea, so we scheduled an appointment. I just left the shop about an hour ago and I am over the moon about how beautiful my cover up is. Not only did Dennis give me a piece of body art to cherish forever, he did so quickly and professionally. I appreciate how he gave his input as to what he thought, as the artist, would look best and how he helped a girl out when I was in a bit of pain. The shop is clean, the staff is friendly (and hilarious), and full of cool artwork all over the walls. The tattoo is 100x more lovely than I ever imagined it would be. ONLY ONE STAR BECAUSE A NEGATIVE STAR ISN'T AN OPTION! THIEVES!!!!!!!I meet with Brittany a few weeks ago and about a possible tattoo, left a $60 deposit so that I could come back to discuss it further. Upon my return (8/27) she said it wouldn't fit in the area originally chosen, I agreed. She said to think about it and come back in at a later time (did not give me a time deadline for return). So I did just that, I returned this afternoon (10/3) and showed her what I had decided upon, which wasn't what I had originally wanted. We then choose a date for the work to be completed and she asked for an additional $40 deposit. I thought she had probably forgotten about the $60 I had left her a few weeks ago, for the work that she didn't do. Nope, she so rudely informed me that, "NO, this was a different tattoo, that $60 didn't apply to it", and that "SHE HAD BILLS TO PAY!" We all have bills to pay, however I just paid one for her on work that she never provided to me! She also said it's company policy, if in-fact that is true, it should also be policy to let your customers know when they make a deposit that they are not aloud to change their minds on art that will be forever on their bodies. HERE'S THE KICKER.....I changed my mind from a detailed compass to the foot prints of my niece who passed away last November! She quoted the compass tattoo at $120 and Olivia's footprints at $80, I guess that's where the "bill paying" issue came into play, she wouldn't make enough money off that one.  Clearly, I will not be giving her any of my business and I can't believe a shop would take someone's money and give them nothing in return!  I e-mailed the address listed on the website, (person named Jason) and received no response!  Brittanie Turpin and Holy City Tattoo should be ashamed of themselves!! Brittanie was super awesome. she truly loves and is passionate about her job and tattoos she's almost fully covered herself. I got exactly what I wanted and she is drawing up a diabetic tat for my husband. She's very good at getting what you want drawn and open to changes. Also Me and my husband had our 2 sons with us ages 8 and 11 and she was totally cool with the kids being there(as long as thet are well behaved which i totally get) and our boys are, the waiting area although separated looks into work area so kids could see. It was cool to have my boys there and show them new things and experiences. Shop is very mom and pop-ish style building but clean and welcoming with the feeling of more intimate and hands on approach. Unlike a lot of other uptight and selfrighteous shops and artists around. Jason did a portrait on my thigh a few years ago, and it still remains one of my best tattoo experiences. During my four hour session, he was constantly making sure I was okay and asking if I needed a break. The portrait came out beautifully and has aged so well. My opinion is that I felt like I was a bit of a bother. I was recommended to holy city. I love the studio. My only and biggest complaint Is that during my consultation felt I was in the way. No real attention to what I was saying, just getting ready for another client. I feel that if I'm committing to a tattoo I want a TRUE consultation. Just 2 minutes on me please! I was in need of an experienced artist to do a tattoo coverup of my very first tattoo done about 12 years ago. After researching the Charleston area and speaking with a few artists from various tattoo shops, I am ecstatic that I chose Margo to do my coverup tattoo.I booked my appointment with her about a month out. She typically opens her books every few weeks about 1pm and then fills her appointments for the following month. She was outgoing and helpful from the beginning. And she is not afraid to be honest if she thinks your concept might work better another way, a quality I actually appreciated. Come tattoo day, she set the tone again with her outgoing and down to earth personality. The whole shop was actually this way, it was comforting in a sense. She set up her station and then hand drew my tattoo, a succulent, right onto my back. Being a coverup she insisted it's best to make sure that it's drawn exactly the way it needs to be to cover the existing tattoo. After she was finished drawing, I did have the opportunity to see it before we began. It was already amazing and I knew I was right to trust her. The tattoo itself sucked. And if you have tattoos then you know that isn't necessarily the tattoo artists fault. They just do. She herself was as gentle and efficient as possible. And after two hours of sitting under her tattoo gun we were finished and the end result was well worth it all. I loved everything about it, the color choices, the composition, the details... she knew exactly how to make it stand out. I almost forgot I had an existing tattoo underneath it! Professional,  personable atmosphere.   I'm 55, and not what some would consider the typical tattoo wearing person.  My existing 20+ year old artwork needed to be retouched and made vibrant again. I chose Holy City Tattoo, because it and the owner Jason Eisenberg  have an excellent reputation. Four stars only because I'm a newbie; as far as tattoos goes. Dennis was my artist and he was spectacular, easy to talk to , understanding and had good advice for my idea. Took my idea and quickly came up with a stencil and hooked me up. He's was swift and gentle, had me out sooner than I thought. I walked in and was out in less than two hours. There are no words for the talent in this custom shop. The majority of my work has been done by Margo and it is impeccable. I literally get stopped ALL the time for referrals. My husband's sleeves are always the topic of conversation and we can't make it through a meal without someone coming up to our table to ask where he gets his art. I have a small piece from Jason - it too is incredible. I would never, in a million years, consider going anywhere else. The prices are exactly what they should be for talent of their caliber.
