Terrible service. I arrived at the tattoo place and was informed that I would not be waiting long and that there was only two people ahead of me getting matching sister tattoos. An hour and a half passes before their tattoos are done, and come to find out there was another person in front of me that I was not told about. The people at the front desk need to learn how to gage how long it's going to be. I was on federal hill I would have left and came back. Instead I sat for an absurd amount of time, leaving annoyed and without tattoo. This was my second time getting a tattoo there and both time the people were slow as molasses. Will never be going back.

This place was a nose piercing NIGHTMARE TO SAY THE L E A S T. PLEASE READ. I walked in to get a simple nose stud piercing. The woman at the counter showed me several sizes of studs to choose from. Then she told me I'd choose my stud in the piercing room with my piercer, Jess. When I entered the room, Jess did not say a single word to me. She immediately turned her back and started doing god knows what with the nose stud. She did NOT introduce her self or ask my name or anything at all. I then asked her when I could pick my stud, she said "theyre all the same." This statement was EXTREMELY confusing to me considering the woman at the counter showed me several options of studs and then told me I could choose my stud with Jess. When I explained to Jess that I was told I thought I was going to be able to pick a stud she copped a major attitude. She was absolutely bothered by what I was asking her and talked to me as if i was stupid. I then said I wasn't so sure about the piercing anymore because of how rude and uninformative Jess was being. Then, myself, my mother (I'm 17), and Jess walked to the front counter where I explained to her what I was shown upon arrival. This is when the front desk woman's attitude did a complete 180 and she joined in on talking to me as if I was an idiot. She then took the six trays of nose studs out of her glass case and began to show me which could actually be used for a nose ring, WHICH WAS NOT STATED WHEN I WALKED IN. After the disrespect from not only Jess, but the woman at the front desk, I told them I would not be getting the piercing. After telling them that, I got an eye roll from the one and only Jess, and they both looked at each other and laughed!! Unbelievable. I would absolutely never go to Jess if you have the option and PLEASE believe the bad reviews about her because they are true. She needs to be fired and learn how to respect other people, especially those who are getting a piercing for the first time.

I got my first tattoo done here by Frankie and I LOVE it!! I called about an hour before I got there (it was about 9 or 10 on a Tuesday night) and spoke to someone on the phone just letting them know I was coming and what I was interested in. They told me that I would be able to come in and get my tattoo done right then and there. Once I got there, I showed the man at the front some pictures that I had found online that I liked. He was very helpful, even printing out pictures and showing me how they'd look to size. He was very helpful in showing me how big it would have to be so they lines wouldn't eventually blend together and look like a messy blob. I was very glad he did this because he could have easily overcharged me for something without telling me that it could all blend together in a year and I would have to keep getting it redone (Although the price wasn't too bad, $80 for a 3-4 inch line tattoo w/o color). Finally after the quick impromptu consultation, they got me in the room with Frankie. He took a couple minutes to draw it by hand and even redrew it to better fit what I would like. Once we got it perfect, he disinfected his hands and put on gloves, disinfected the location of my tattoo, and disinfected his work surface and got out new clean needles. Everything was super clean!! Frankie was amazing, the tattoo came out perfect. He was very helpful knowing that it was my first tattoo, he even let me pick out the music that was playing while I got it done! The tattoo didn't hurt like I was expecting at all! It has been about 3 weeks now and my tattoo didn't even peel thanks to his perfect technique (acquired from 17+ years of experience) and their clear aftercare instructions. I followed the instructions they give you to a tee, however I did swap out Dial soap for Dove hypoallergenic sensitive skin body wash. I definitely recommend East Coast Tattoo

Super unprofessional piercing experience. The guy at the front desk was really nice and helpful but the actual piercing it self was super unprofessional, and extremely CROOKED. I literally made a yelp to write this review because of how botched this piercing is. Paid like $60 (before the piercing) for a completely sideways medusa piercing. Luckily i have had an oral piercing before so i knew how to clean it because there was no instructions or even mention of after care. The piercing it self is extremely crooked and i cant even downsize it to a smaller bar because it sits completely sideways. 3 other (trustworthy) piercers have told me to take it out because of how poorly the piercing itself(not the physical placement the actual needle through skin part) is done, and i may not be able to have the piercing redone due to how the tissue may heal. Very angry about my entire experience here, dont go here for any serious piercings, and i wouldnt support this businesses or give them any money.

I have gotten 3 piercings here. A helix on my upper ear, a daith, and most recently my nose. Jess has done a wonderful job each time and have no problems with any of the piercings. She is incredibly talented and very fast. She explained what to expect, especially with my nose. She was very calm, professional and answered all my questions. I have had my share of good and bad piercers and I have experienced the least amount of pain with the three that Jess has done. I feel confident and comfortable in the shop. The woman at the front desk is very nice and is able to answer lots of questions too! I would highly recommend this shop. There is also some inexpensive meter parking or non-paying street parking close by if you go onto a side road.

DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. I came in with a friend to get nipple piercings done. First off, the body piercer made inappropriate comments that left both of us uncomfortable, which made for a terrible experience. After 9 months of it not healing, I went to see another body piercer who told me that my piercing had been done COMPLETELY wrong and I was actually given an areola piercing, and that it would never be able to fully heal so it had to be removed immediately. Once he took the jewelry out he noticed that the bars were not polished and had been scratched so that every time the bar moved it was cutting me. I called East Coast to see if I could get my money back, explaining that I did not get what I paid for and went elsewhere because I did not feel comfortable going in and seeing that guy again. STILL they said that I had "no proof" of it being done wrong (even though I had the botched scars and unfit jewelry) and refused to give me the money back. Will never go here again and recommend you don't either.

DO NOT get your navel pierced here. I got mine pierced and after cleaning it out 2 times a day, it still hadn’t healed and caused me pain anytime it was moved even after 8 months so I went back to ask them to look at it and the lady who was at the front wouldn’t even look at it and said it was fine and that it would take longer. And then I went to an actual piercing place and they told me for sure that it was infected and not only that but that the jewelry that was used was a kind no legitimate piercing place uses anymore as it has ridges that cause pain when you try to take it out. They helped take it out as painlessly as possible and told me how to heal the infection. After looking at the jewelry it was obvious the metal had degraded which helped cause the infection and left a big dark scar on my stomach. NOT a good experience with their piercing. Very disappointed especially since I had gotten my nose pierced here the year before and it was perfectly fine and one of the guy piercers was very helpful at the time.

Nose and tongue. I had my tongue previously pierced so I ask for it to be in the same placement. Simple task right ...... no! I called back and asked for a refund and I was told no refunds. I am going to post the picture of my tongue. I circled exactly where the old piercing was. As a professional she should have noticed she made a mistake!!! Needless to say I took the jewelry and put it through the old hole myself. Guess I should have just done that from the beginning. Nose piercing was perfect.

Pros: Every single other place I looked into charged at least double for the $35 tragus piercing I got at East Coast! The pricing is excellent and affordable- with the supplies, jewelry, and establishment upkeep and hygiene being just as quality as anywhere else!
Very comfortable, personal feel in the shop, with large murals featuring local-themed art, multiple pool tables, television with movie and video game options, poker table, etc. Lots of tattoo option and jewelry displays as well.
There is an extremely cute trash can in the bathroom.
Professional and friendly artists.
Con: I showed up about 30 minutes after the shop opened and still waited about 40 minutes before the piercer (whose name I didn't catch, sorry!) even showed up. (After calling to make an appointment and being told that it was walk in only, I feel like setting up an appointment may have avoided this issue.) However, I had nothing to do on that day, so it wasn't a problem for me. In fact, I enjoyed browsing the art and the personal touches in the shop! Thought this information would be helpful for the review, though. :)

I've been coming here for all of my piercing needs since I moved to Northern Rhode Island. I believe I have had a total of 5 piercings done here. It's a funky-fresh vibe when you walk in. The gentleman who seems to always be there when I come is very funny and entertaining (Ask him for a joke, you wont be let down). My latest was a nostril piercings with Jessica last month. Jess is great. My nostril is almost fully healed and perfectly placed. I have always and will always recommend East Coast to those in need of body piercings.

The man at the front desk told an extremely inappropriate joke and made my friend and I very uncomfortable. After he had rung us up and we were waiting to be pierced, he asked if he could tell a joke that involved pointing at us (so as not to be "rude"). We said yes, and he said, "What did one tampon say to the other tampon?" while pointing to both our private parts during "one tampon" and "the other tampon." We exchanged glances and reluctantly played along, and he replies "It doesn't matter because they're both stuck up bitches!" We would have left after that if we hadn't just paid. He became rude and defensive, calling us a "very special type of people" for not loving his joke. The rest of the experience was very uncomfortable because of it. Totally unprofessional.I literally made a yelp account just to write this review

I told her but as soon as he came out she changed her demeanor, being complacent as Nate told me that because but I was told that because it looks normal when I stand that it doesn't matter. I mentioned that if I lose weight i...t would be clearly an inch above my belly button, they said "oh you don't need to lose weight" and that it wasn't able to he determined how it would look even if I did lose weight although it was clearly above my belly button. I felt patronized by the piercer. Just because it kind of looks okay doesn't mean anything. They were no helpful at all and offered no solutions. I paid for a piercing that I didn't get. I felt violated by the experience and cried because I thought I would have another great experience there, but never again See more

Just had gotten my taxes back and wanted to go get a new tattoo, the shop I usually went to had been booked for the next several weeks so I was glad to find out this shop accepted walk ins! Was immediately pleased with how welcoming the owner was, and the pricing for what I was getting was decent. Not only was the owner very welcoming but very informative on aftercare, and some of the reasons why my other tattoos had scabbed. Jack was the one who tatted me and did an amazing job, asked a lot of questions and was very friendly. Definitely a comfortable environment to go get something done, just don't be too lazy to walk up to the second floor!

My daughter had the worst experience there. She went in for a belly piercing and left with a surface piercing instead! I don't know if Nate, the one who did the piercing was vision impaired but he totally missed her belly button! When she complained about it, Nate and the receptionist act like my daughter was being overly dramatic and didn't understand why she was upset. They did not offer any refund, discount or an apology. She left there in tears. I definitely would not recommend you go get a piercing from this place. Horrible customer service. I would give them no stars if I could!

So with that in mind my daughter and her friend wanted to get some piercing this weekend so we made the drive, it's 40 mins from home. With in mind we would have an amazing expierence like I had before. The lady there had such a bitch face was not friendly at all and the worse part was she was the person that was going to do the piercing. She even scaredy daughters friend not to get her piercing. Please evaluate your staff.. and bring back the guy with the amazing personality 😩

Was having issues with my nose piercing and another piercer down the street refused to help me out twice saying it was impossible to fix, while Nate helped me out without hesitation! great prices as well. 10/10 recommend him to anyone in the area.

I love it here, I've been in a few different times for piercings and have always had a good experience. Patient piercer (won't get fed up with nervous clients) and good work. The one star off is because the jewelry quality is questionable, my belly piercing has looked great but migrated a lot with healing so idk if that was just from irritation or the jewelry. I had my earlobes done here also and switched the jewelry soon after (though I know you're not generally supposed to) because the metal was giving me problems.

I was expecting my nose piercing to hurt, but I and my friends (knowing how much of a baby I am) were shocked at how I handled it. I swear...it felt like a little pinch! Smooth, fast, easy breezy. And it looks beautiful :) I highly recommend East Coast Tattoo :) Great customer service, great prices, and beautiful and clean environment.

Josh is the BEST ! I went into two other places and they were stuffy as hell and wanted to take complete creative control of the tattoo. I was very displeased. When I walked into East Coast Josh was approachable, friendly and immediately praised my tattoo idea. I got a Nintendo game controller piece and he was so excited to draw something up. I really wanted to get the tattoo done right away and he was ready for it. Josh provided a very chill, rock and roll tattoo experience. We laughed, talked and listened to some sweet metal the whole way through. Not only is he artfully skilled, but he is a cool motherflucka.I am incredibly happy with my piece. It's playful and highly detailed and it's EXACTLY what I wanted.

While this place originally seemed like a great choice and I was happy with how my 2 tattoos turned out (I got 2 small ones in one sitting), once they healed it became apparent they weren't done well. Please note that this is not due to improper care as I already had 2 tattoos done elsewhere and know how to properly manage aftercare. The ink legit came off as if scabbed, so the color is now inconsistent; the lines are uneven; and they both look faded, even though I've only had them for about 3 months (my other 2 I've had for 8+ years and they look darker/less faded than these do). East Coast might seem like a great choice, but it's not. You get what you pay for, I suppose. I'll need to go somewhere else and have mine touched up now. Lesson learned...

I have never had an infection or been dissatisfied with any of the work they've done. And most of their piercing prices are cheaper than most competitors of the same quality. I recommend them highly for piercing however I have never gotten any large scale tattoo pieces from any artists there so I cannot comment to that.

Just got a tattoo here and am beyond pleased. The staff was so warm and friendly. They were patient with me as I figured out my design and helpful through the process. Pedro was my artist and he is so skilled and talented. It turned out better than I had imagined. He really seemed to appreciate attentiveness to detail and getting it right. He let me take my time and was very thoughtful through it all. He was pleasant to sit with - not too chatty but not at all cold/distant, which was perfect for me. The shop itself is clean and a great space. Windows and great lighting. The price was fair. Would definitely recommend the shop and Pedro!!

The whole experience was amazing. The artwork came out beautifully and I can't wait to work with him in the future.Josh was funny and chatted with my friends. He jokes with us and made me feel comfortable which was important as I was there a while.I recommend seeing josh and getting a tattoo from him. Definitely he best artist I worked with!

I took two friends here to get dermal piercings and will never set foot in the place again. The man that did the piercing was so rude and inconsiderate that I cannot believe he is there. Unfortunately I did not get his name but if his boss keeps him there then there is something wrong. Naturally not all piercing go perfectly, especially dermals, but when it does go wrong you need to show consideration and not make the customer more nervous by giving them an attitude and make a nervous person even more upset. We went to Rockstar down the street and had a much better experience!

This began too irritate my stomach and create a lot if discomfort. Iwent to another tattoo place and they were disgusted by what east coast had done. When they took out the surface piercing you could clearly see the marks where the pliers were placed and bent the bar. I will not be going back there!

There seemed to be several ink designs in their gallery and (by the decor) they seemed to have been an established time piece of Federal Hill. The two gentlemen working that night were quite pleasant.Not so pleasing: the level of cleanliness. There was a solid layer of grime on the floor (previously dropped jewelry, dust bunnies, dirt, mud, ink splatter). I'm all for rustic, but this place just isn't fit for SANITARY body puncturing of any sort (NOT SAFE!!).

If the tattoo you are interested in is not up to his standards, then he will treat you like a nothing. I would be prepared to be treated like a second class individual if you are not heavily tatted, or propose something that will allow him to truly work his creativity. In other words, if you don't look like you stepped off of LA Ink, or want Van Gogh on your chest, then you aren't worth his precious time.There are many other tattoo places in Providence, including 3 within walking distance. I would advise that you check all of those places out for a consultation before going here. You will be made to feel like a customer, rather than just someone that has skin that Chris can draw on.

Chris Defiant is the greatest. I have been tattooed by several people and he is my favorite by far. Polite, knowledgeable and of course talented. Unlike some tattoo artists, he actually listens to what you want and respects the fact that you are the one who has to live with the piece so he gives you what you want. I am always pleased with the results. I brought my mom there and she loved hers too, but she doesn't Yelp. The woman at the front desk is super sweet, sorry but I don't remember her name.I am also happily surprised by the low prices for such good work.

Terrible service. I arrived at the tattoo place and was informed that I would not be waiting long and that there was only two people ahead of me getting matching sister tattoos. An hour and a half passes before their tattoos are done, and come to find out there was another person in front of me that I was not told about. The people at the front desk need to learn how to gage how long it's going to be. I was on federal hill I would have left and came back. Instead I sat for an absurd amount of time, leaving annoyed and without tattoo. This was my second time getting a tattoo there and both time the people were slow as molasses. Will never be going back.

This place was a nose piercing NIGHTMARE TO SAY THE L E A S T. PLEASE READ. I walked in to get a simple nose stud piercing. The woman at the counter showed me several sizes of studs to choose from. Then she told me I'd choose my stud in the piercing room with my piercer, Jess. When I entered the room, Jess did not say a single word to me. She immediately turned her back and started doing god knows what with the nose stud. She did NOT introduce her self or ask my name or anything at all. I then asked her when I could pick my stud, she said "theyre all the same." This statement was EXTREMELY confusing to me considering the woman at the counter showed me several options of studs and then told me I could choose my stud with Jess. When I explained to Jess that I was told I thought I was going to be able to pick a stud she copped a major attitude. She was absolutely bothered by what I was asking her and talked to me as if i was stupid. I then said I wasn't so sure about the piercing anymore because of how rude and uninformative Jess was being. Then, myself, my mother (I'm 17), and Jess walked to the front counter where I explained to her what I was shown upon arrival. This is when the front desk woman's attitude did a complete 180 and she joined in on talking to me as if I was an idiot. She then took the six trays of nose studs out of her glass case and began to show me which could actually be used for a nose ring, WHICH WAS NOT STATED WHEN I WALKED IN. After the disrespect from not only Jess, but the woman at the front desk, I told them I would not be getting the piercing. After telling them that, I got an eye roll from the one and only Jess, and they both looked at each other and laughed!! Unbelievable. I would absolutely never go to Jess if you have the option and PLEASE believe the bad reviews about her because they are true. She needs to be fired and learn how to respect other people, especially those who are getting a piercing for the first time.

I got my first tattoo done here by Frankie and I LOVE it!! I called about an hour before I got there (it was about 9 or 10 on a Tuesday night) and spoke to someone on the phone just letting them know I was coming and what I was interested in. They told me that I would be able to come in and get my tattoo done right then and there. Once I got there, I showed the man at the front some pictures that I had found online that I liked. He was very helpful, even printing out pictures and showing me how they'd look to size. He was very helpful in showing me how big it would have to be so they lines wouldn't eventually blend together and look like a messy blob. I was very glad he did this because he could have easily overcharged me for something without telling me that it could all blend together in a year and I would have to keep getting it redone (Although the price wasn't too bad, $80 for a 3-4 inch line tattoo w/o color). Finally after the quick impromptu consultation, they got me in the room with Frankie. He took a couple minutes to draw it by hand and even redrew it to better fit what I would like. Once we got it perfect, he disinfected his hands and put on gloves, disinfected the location of my tattoo, and disinfected his work surface and got out new clean needles. Everything was super clean!! Frankie was amazing, the tattoo came out perfect. He was very helpful knowing that it was my first tattoo, he even let me pick out the music that was playing while I got it done! The tattoo didn't hurt like I was expecting at all! It has been about 3 weeks now and my tattoo didn't even peel thanks to his perfect technique (acquired from 17+ years of experience) and their clear aftercare instructions. I followed the instructions they give you to a tee, however I did swap out Dial soap for Dove hypoallergenic sensitive skin body wash. I definitely recommend East Coast Tattoo

Super unprofessional piercing experience. The guy at the front desk was really nice and helpful but the actual piercing it self was super unprofessional, and extremely CROOKED. I literally made a yelp to write this review because of how botched this piercing is. Paid like $60 (before the piercing) for a completely sideways medusa piercing. Luckily i have had an oral piercing before so i knew how to clean it because there was no instructions or even mention of after care. The piercing it self is extremely crooked and i cant even downsize it to a smaller bar because it sits completely sideways. 3 other (trustworthy) piercers have told me to take it out because of how poorly the piercing itself(not the physical placement the actual needle through skin part) is done, and i may not be able to have the piercing redone due to how the tissue may heal. Very angry about my entire experience here, dont go here for any serious piercings, and i wouldnt support this businesses or give them any money.

I have gotten 3 piercings here. A helix on my upper ear, a daith, and most recently my nose. Jess has done a wonderful job each time and have no problems with any of the piercings. She is incredibly talented and very fast. She explained what to expect, especially with my nose. She was very calm, professional and answered all my questions. I have had my share of good and bad piercers and I have experienced the least amount of pain with the three that Jess has done. I feel confident and comfortable in the shop. The woman at the front desk is very nice and is able to answer lots of questions too! I would highly recommend this shop. There is also some inexpensive meter parking or non-paying street parking close by if you go onto a side road.

DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. I came in with a friend to get nipple piercings done. First off, the body piercer made inappropriate comments that left both of us uncomfortable, which made for a terrible experience. After 9 months of it not healing, I went to see another body piercer who told me that my piercing had been done COMPLETELY wrong and I was actually given an areola piercing, and that it would never be able to fully heal so it had to be removed immediately. Once he took the jewelry out he noticed that the bars were not polished and had been scratched so that every time the bar moved it was cutting me. I called East Coast to see if I could get my money back, explaining that I did not get what I paid for and went elsewhere because I did not feel comfortable going in and seeing that guy again. STILL they said that I had "no proof" of it being done wrong (even though I had the botched scars and unfit jewelry) and refused to give me the money back. Will never go here again and recommend you don't either.

I love the way my piercings came out and would definitely recommend this shop to someone looking for a professional, clean, place! Will definitely be using them for all my future piercings needs. Also the gentlemen at the front when I walked in was very nice as well, and professional/informative!

DO NOT get your navel pierced here. I got mine pierced and after cleaning it out 2 times a day, it still hadn’t healed and caused me pain anytime it was moved even after 8 months so I went back to ask them to look at it and the lady who was at the front wouldn’t even look at it and said it was fine and that it would take longer. And then I went to an actual piercing place and they told me for sure that it was infected and not only that but that the jewelry that was used was a kind no legitimate piercing place uses anymore as it has ridges that cause pain when you try to take it out. They helped take it out as painlessly as possible and told me how to heal the infection. After looking at the jewelry it was obvious the metal had degraded which helped cause the infection and left a big dark scar on my stomach. NOT a good experience with their piercing. Very disappointed especially since I had gotten my nose pierced here the year before and it was perfectly fine and one of the guy piercers was very helpful at the time.

Nose and tongue. I had my tongue previously pierced so I ask for it to be in the same placement. Simple task right ...... no! I called back and asked for a refund and I was told no refunds. I am going to post the picture of my tongue. I circled exactly where the old piercing was. As a professional she should have noticed she made a mistake!!! Needless to say I took the jewelry and put it through the old hole myself. Guess I should have just done that from the beginning. Nose piercing was perfect.

Pros: Every single other place I looked into charged at least double for the $35 tragus piercing I got at East Coast! The pricing is excellent and affordable- with the supplies, jewelry, and establishment upkeep and hygiene being just as quality as anywhere else!
Very comfortable, personal feel in the shop, with large murals featuring local-themed art, multiple pool tables, television with movie and video game options, poker table, etc. Lots of tattoo option and jewelry displays as well.
There is an extremely cute trash can in the bathroom.
Professional and friendly artists.
Con: I showed up about 30 minutes after the shop opened and still waited about 40 minutes before the piercer (whose name I didn't catch, sorry!) even showed up. (After calling to make an appointment and being told that it was walk in only, I feel like setting up an appointment may have avoided this issue.) However, I had nothing to do on that day, so it wasn't a problem for me. In fact, I enjoyed browsing the art and the personal touches in the shop! Thought this information would be helpful for the review, though. :)

I've been coming here for all of my piercing needs since I moved to Northern Rhode Island. I believe I have had a total of 5 piercings done here. It's a funky-fresh vibe when you walk in. The gentleman who seems to always be there when I come is very funny and entertaining (Ask him for a joke, you wont be let down). My latest was a nostril piercings with Jessica last month. Jess is great. My nostril is almost fully healed and perfectly placed. I have always and will always recommend East Coast to those in need of body piercings.

After he had rung us up and we were waiting to be pierced, he asked if he could tell a joke that involved pointing at us (so as not to be "rude"). We said yes, and he said, "What did one tampon say to the other tampon?" while pointing to both our private parts during "one tampon" and "the other tampon." We exchanged glances and reluctantly played along, and he replies "It doesn't matter because they're both stuck up bitches!" We would have left after that if we hadn't just paid. He became rude and defensive, calling us a "very special type of people" for not loving his joke. The rest of the experience was very uncomfortable because of it. I told her but as soon as he came out she changed her demeanor, being complacent as Nate told me that because but I was told that because it looks normal when I stand that it doesn't matter. I mentioned that if I lose weight i...t would be clearly an inch above my belly button, they said "oh you don't need to lose weight" and that it wasn't able to he determined how it would look even if I did lose weight although it was clearly above my belly button. I felt patronized by the piercer. Just because it kind of looks okay doesn't mean anything. They were no helpful at all and offered no solutions. I paid for a piercing that I didn't get. Just had gotten my taxes back and wanted to go get a new tattoo, the shop I usually went to had been booked for the next several weeks so I was glad to find out this shop accepted walk ins! Was immediately pleased with how welcoming the owner was, and the pricing for what I was getting was decent. Not only was the owner very welcoming but very informative on aftercare, and some of the reasons why my other tattoos had scabbed. Jack was the one who tatted me and did an amazing job, asked a lot of questions and was very friendly. Definitely a comfortable environment to go get something done, just don't be too lazy to walk up to the second floor!

My daughter had the worst experience there. She went in for a belly piercing and left with a surface piercing instead! I don't know if Nate, the one who did the piercing was vision impaired but he totally missed her belly button! When she complained about it, Nate and the receptionist act like my daughter was being overly dramatic and didn't understand why she was upset. They did not offer any refund, discount or an apology. She left there in tears. I definitely would not recommend you go get a piercing from this place. Horrible customer service. I would give them no stars if I could!

So with that in mind my daughter and her friend wanted to get some piercing this weekend so we made the drive, it's 40 mins from home. With in mind we would have an amazing expierence like I had before. The lady there had such a bitch face was not friendly at all and the worse part was she was the person that was going to do the piercing. She even scaredy daughters friend not to get her piercing. The one star off is because the jewelry quality is questionable, my belly piercing has looked great but migrated a lot with healing so idk if that was just from irritation or the jewelry. I had my earlobes done here also and switched the jewelry soon after (though I know you're not generally supposed to) because the metal was giving me problems.

I was expecting my nose piercing to hurt, but I and my friends (knowing how much of a baby I am) were shocked at how I handled it. I swear...it felt like a little pinch! Smooth, fast, easy breezy. Josh is the BEST ! I went into two other places and they were stuffy as hell and wanted to take complete creative control of the tattoo. I was very displeased. When I walked into East Coast Josh was approachable, friendly and immediately praised my tattoo idea. I got a Nintendo game controller piece and he was so excited to draw something up. I really wanted to get the tattoo done right away and he was ready for it. Josh provided a very chill, rock and roll tattoo experience. We laughed, talked and listened to some sweet metal the whole way through. Not only is he artfully skilled, but he is a cool motherflucka.I am incredibly happy with my piece. It's playful and highly detailed and it's EXACTLY what I wanted.

While this place originally seemed like a great choice and I was happy with how my 2 tattoos turned out (I got 2 small ones in one sitting), once they healed it became apparent they weren't done well. Please note that this is not due to improper care as I already had 2 tattoos done elsewhere and know how to properly manage aftercare. The ink legit came off as if scabbed, so the color is now inconsistent; the lines are uneven; and they both look faded, even though I've only had them for about 3 months (my other 2 I've had for 8+ years and they look darker/less faded than these do). East Coast might seem like a great choice, but it's not. You get what you pay for, I suppose. I'll need to go somewhere else and have mine touched up now. Lesson learned...

I've gotten over 10 piercings here and 2 walk in tattoos. They have always been courteous, affordable, and professional. I have never had an infection or been dissatisfied with any of the work they've done. And most of their piercing prices are cheaper than most competitors of the same quality. I recommend them highly for piercing however I have never gotten any large scale tattoo pieces from any artists there so I cannot comment to that.

Just got a tattoo here and am beyond pleased. The staff was so warm and friendly. They were patient with me as I figured out my design and helpful through the process. Pedro was my artist and he is so skilled and talented. It turned out better than I had imagined. He really seemed to appreciate attentiveness to detail and getting it right. He let me take my time and was very thoughtful through it all. He was pleasant to sit with - not too chatty but not at all cold/distant, which was perfect for me. The shop itself is clean and a great space. Windows and great lighting. The price was fair. Would definitely recommend the shop and Pedro!!

Though I got a larger back piece this time and worked with an artist named Josh.He created something original based of a picture I showed him and worked with me to make it unique. The whole experience was amazing. The artwork came out beautifully and I can't wait to work with him in the future.Josh was funny and chatted with my friends. He jokes with us and made me feel comfortable which was important as I was there a while.I recommend seeing josh and getting a tattoo from him. Definitely he best artist I worked with!

I took two friends here to get dermal piercings and will never set foot in the place again. The man that did the piercing was so rude and inconsiderate that I cannot believe he is there. Unfortunately I did not get his name but if his boss keeps him there then there is something wrong. Naturally not all piercing go perfectly, especially dermals, but when it does go wrong you need to show consideration and not make the customer more nervous by giving them an attitude and make a nervous person even more upset. We went to Rockstar down the street and had a much better experience!

This began too irritate my stomach and create a lot if discomfort. Iwent to another tattoo place and they were disgusted by what east coast had done. When they took out the surface piercing you could clearly see the marks where the pliers were placed and bent the bar. I will not be going back there!

There seemed to be several ink designs in their gallery and (by the decor) they seemed to have been an established time piece of Federal Hill. The two gentlemen working that night were quite pleasant.Not so pleasing: the level of cleanliness. There was a solid layer of grime on the floor (previously dropped jewelry, dust bunnies, dirt, mud, ink splatter). I'm all for rustic, but this place just isn't fit for SANITARY body puncturing of any sort (NOT SAFE!!).

If the tattoo you are interested in is not up to his standards, then he will treat you like a nothing. I would be prepared to be treated like a second class individual if you are not heavily tatted, or propose something that will allow him to truly work his creativity. In other words, if you don't look like you stepped off of LA Ink, or want Van Gogh on your chest, then you aren't worth his precious time.There are many other tattoo places in Providence, including 3 within walking distance. I would advise that you check all of those places out for a consultation before going here. You will be made to feel like a customer, rather than just someone that has skin that Chris can draw on.

Unlike some tattoo artists, he actually listens to what you want and respects the fact that you are the one who has to live with the piece so he gives you what you want. I am always pleased with the results. I brought my mom there and she loved hers too, but she doesn't Yelp. The woman at the front desk is super sweet, sorry but I don't remember her name.I am also happily surprised by the low prices for such good work.
