This was my first time at unicorn ink and what a great experience! Walking into the shop the front desk is so friendly & crazy enough it is super kid/family friendly! I was there to get my 9 weeks old daughters ears pierced and had my 10 year old son with us. My 10 year old loves the video arcade and chips & candy! Mikey did the piercing and OMG he was so patient! My daughter was so cranky but he took his time and marked her ears and kept setting back giving me all the time needed to calm her down! I even breastfed while Miley did her ears. I really would not recommend this shop for a piercing. The woman at the counter was very nice and friendly, and the studio has a very cool, unique vibe. However, the piercer provided my friend and I with very little information about the process and the cost, so we had to ask him a bunch of questions because he offered up so little on his own. I didn't feel particularly welcomed or comfortable, which is ideally something I'm looking for considering I'm usually already a little nervous about getting poked. The worst part of my experience here was probably the low quality jewelry. The placing of my helix piercing was fine and the process itself was fairly quick and easy, but the jewelry was no good. The first red flag is that he used jewelry with a butterfly back, so we already know it isn't a high quality metal such as titanium or gold, which typically have threaded or threadless posts. I'm not sure exactly what kind of metal it was, but my piercing stayed sore and irritated for a long time. I ended up having to go to Visions in Medway to have the jewelry changed out to a threadless titanium piece because it wasn't healing, and it was incredibly painful to have removed because the scab was attached to the butterfly back at that point. Now it's doing much better and actually starting to heal, but it also developed a keloid.Please don't ever get pierced with low quality metal jewelry or anything with a butterfly back! Your ear/other body part will thank you. Good quality jewelry is absolutely worth the money, as it's more comfortable, makes the healing process easier, and won't cause allergic reactions. We had a blast today at the shop. Greg booked us for next week but had an opening that worked better for his schedule today, so we came in on the fly. My body doesn't love tattoos, but Greg was super chill and patient with me when I needed a break and some water/sugar/air. He took the time to be sure we both loved the location of our ink, and was awesome to sit and chat with during both our sessions. Got my first and second tattoo here from Giulia (who no longer works there). Overall they made these sometimes painful experiences so easy and comfortable. Which I believe is very important considering the permanent art. The rest of the artists work is beautiful and I would still continue to go there if my artist was still there. Highly recommend. This is the worse shop ever for tattoos, I wish I could upload a picture of the messed up tattoo my best friend got from the boy they have working there.  I emailed the owner regarding it, I even send a picture! he saw nothing wrong with the tattoo? He had a nasty attitude regarding our complaint.. I was dumb founded I couldn't believe his attitude.. as a business owner it's best to know how to be humble...  I felt so bad for my friend because I took her there.. worse mistake I've made.. so think twice do not get suckerd in by cheap prices or what ever sale they advertise.. This was a disappointing experience.These guys lacked professionalism from the start, there was no one at the front desk when I arrived, and the artist that was supposed to do my tattoo was no where to be found. After waiting for a far while another artist finally approached me and then had to go find the artist I was meeting with after a good 7-10 minutes. After waiting the artist assumed where I would want my tattoo, based on a phone conversation I had a few days prior. Which, was completely off from what I requested over the phone. When we began conversing about the actual piece he said it was too much text for the location. This much I completely understand, and I was fine with it. However, my issue is after agreeing that this wouldn't work I was told my deposit is non-refundable. $25 is nothing, I really don't care about the money but the whole experience was very off putting. The artist should've/could've reached out via email when I sent the text I wanted to at least get an understanding of what I wanted. Also we could've avoided me wasting the time and money of driving there all together.I've had a lot of work done at many different shops across the country, this was easily my worst experience. All my life, I never thought I would even consider tattoo. I wanted to do one after my dogs passing.My artist is Giulia, a tiny girl. Although we had to reschedule once but it's worth it. She is able to capture exactly how my dog was and easily understood what I was looking for. I was still hesitating on the day of tattoo but I really love it. It's pretty much painless, as a matter of fact I almost fell asleep.I always thought tattoo salon is like biker place lol but it's very comfortable, not intimidating.I would definitely recommend anyone to unicorn.I will be back! I've never felt compelled to write a Yelp review before, but that changed after recently going to Unicorn Ink with a friend to get Friday the 13th tattoos. As many tattoo enthusiasts probably know, going into a tattoo shop on any Friday the 13th can be a nightmare, with long waits, chaos, and subpar flash options. While myself and many others did encounter a very long wait for tattoos (which is pretty much unavoidable given the circumstances), the flash and the people at Unicorn Ink made it more palatable. The shop even went out of its way and provided waiting customers with donuts and pizza. I want to give a particular shout out to Greg (who I think is one of the shop's owners) for his great work on my tattoo as well as his kindness; it ensured that my friend and I left the shop tired but happy. I've been fortunate enough to be tattooed by my dear friend Giulia twice at this shop; anyone would be lucky to do the same! The vibe in the whole place is very cool, there's a ton to look at in the common area and all you have to do is look at the posts on this page to see the great work every artist here is putting out. Giulia in particular is SO meticulous about her craft and puts a pretty remarkable amount of detail into small spaces. Today I just got my first tattoo and honestly it was a really great experience. The people at unicorn ink we're very welcoming and kind. Everyone there were quite reassuring and made me feel okay and comfortable with getting a tattoo. Obviously I was quite concerned about the pain aspect of it but Courtney reassured me and she was very sweet and funny. The entire time she was tattooing me she just kept reminding me about quirky things or making jokes with me. It made me feel really great. Getting a tattoo at unicorn ink was one of the best experience I've ever had! I took my nephew to get his first tattoo for his birthday and he loved it. Courtney did a wonderful job! She was patient and very detailed oriented.  We both came in very nervous but after talking to her for 30 mins Courtney made us feel very comfortable.  We trusted her so much.  My nephew got a palm tree and he got exactly what he wanted.  I got two tattoos that I love so much! Love love love this shop. Ive been here twice for piercings (tragus & nose) and both times the staff has been welcoming and ready to answer all my (annoying) questions. Was just there an hour or two ago to get my lip re-pierced, to adjust iffy placement from the first time it was pierced. Wanted it over and down a tiny bit and instead he went over and up, AND the jewelry wasn't autoclaved so the reaction started on my way home. I went into Unicorn Ink one day after seeing good reviews online. The staff was very nice, the location was clean, and they were able to do my tattoo right away. It was also fairly inexpensive, I think it was about $60 for a tattoo that took an hour. But unfortunately I was ultimately very disappointed by the final product of my tattoo. In fairness, it was my first tattoo, which I mentioned at the time, and in retrospect, I wonder if I was not specific enough. But the tattoo I got was pretty simple, it was a lotus flower. The sketch that the artist did was good, I liked how it had been drawn. But what he drew on paper ended up being different than what is on my ankle. First the lines of the tattoo are pretty thick. I understand that a tattoo line is going to be thicker than the line of a pencil but I have seen so many tattoos with much thinner lines. Again, in retrospect I wonder if I should have clarified that I wanted the lines to be thinner/more delicate but based on the sketch, I did not realize I needed to do that. Second, it is pretty unsymmetrical. Mainly, a couple of the petals are rounded when they were supposed to be pointy and some of the petals are slightly different sizes/widths. Finally, the petals were drawn longer than they were supposed to be wider. So the effect is that it looks more like the outline of a pot leaf than a lotus flower. In fairness, the tattoo is not awful or like really badly botched, it is just not what I was expecting and is not all that much like the sketch. I really do not like criticizing other people's art, but every time I look at my tattoo I am really disappointed. I would not go back and I would not recommend going here. I do not remember the name of the artist but when you walk in, his room/chair was on the far left (this was 6/15). I mean everybody has bad days and people have different vision; I totally recognize that. I do not want to bad mouth Unicorn Ink, I have seen other nice tattoos on their website and yelp and Facebook, but I guess just be cautious. Read Less

Angelo is a talented artist and great guy. He did a piece on my arm over two sessions. I had an existing black line manga tattoo and some black and white comic frames to add. He gave them awesome color and depth with minimal input from me. Just let him go with his ideas and you'll end up with a great tattoo, guaranteed better than what you have pictured in your head. I am super happy with the finished product. Plus, he's got an interesting space with plenty of classic comic and movie memorabilia to look at while you're in the chair. My friends and I all had Greg for our piercings and he was very knowledgable and was willing to answer any and all questions we had. Very nice place, with lots of complimentary snacks and drinks. I really wanted a watercolor tattoo and was so happy to have found Greg at Unicorn Ink. He was a pleasure to work with and was able to take my ideas and jumbled words and make the exact tattoo I wanted. What can I even begin to say, my mother and I got  tattoos from Greg today and they are even beyond words. They are absolutely gorgeous! Called in for a quick appointment and got booked with John. Went into the shop the next day to meet and discussed the tattoo that I wanted and he was very nice and professional. Asked if he could touch up the tattoo a little bit and I was perfectly okay with that. Come time for the appointment, John was ready and had turned my idea of a tattoo into something beautiful that I loved. The placement and sizing was perfect for me and the design was what I was looking for. The tattoo was almost painless, quick, and done very beautifully!! I didn't get any color in the tattoo but the line work and shading was amazing and well worth the price of the tattoo! John was very friendly throughout receiving the tattoo and went over the aftercare with me once the tattoo was finished. Not only was the tattoo experience great, but the shop is very cool and well decorated. There is an awesome waiting area if you need to bring your kids along; they probably won't want to leave because of that awesome arcade video game machine they have. Today, John tattooed me and it was my best experience with a tattooer and a tattoo parlor. I have two other tattoos from different parlors and I felt the artists treated me more like a slab of skin than a person. Not the case at Unicorn Ink.  The shop is so clean and well decorated.  Every person I met was kind, professional, and friendly. John is so talented and the piece he did on me is detailed and beautiful. He was patient and really valued how the final product came out. I couldn't be happier. Came in last second for a walk-in tattoo. I felt kinda bad about it, but it was like one of those last second "lets do it" kind of thing. I believe the guy who ended helping us out (even though it was super busy) was Greg. It was 8:30Pm and they were closing in a half an hour but he was super sweet and he squeezed me in. Let me first start by saying that any business that loves Yelp and isn't afraid to show it gets an A in my book. I will elaborate later... I had been thinking about getting a cartilage piercing in my inner ear (it's called a 'rook piercing') and decided to pull the trigger. I was out with a friend and decided to check my Yelp app for local tattoo/piercing  shops. Unicorn Ink got great reviews and I'd remembered seeing them featured on the #ROTD a few weeks back. To my dismay, they were close to shutting down shop for the night, but I called anyway, and they were more than happy to stay open for me. Amazing!   When I arrived at the shop, all the paperwork was ready for me and the gentlemen were quite welcoming and friendly. It's a neat little place with graffiti decor and many private rooms for tats and piercings. I have to mention, there was Yelp insignia all over the joint, encouraging customers to leave reviews and to read about them on the site.      George took me past a *lovely* hall of framed mirrors into his piercing room. (Seriously though, that hallway inspired me to do the same in my home) He explained the procedure and the necessity for a longer barbell during the initial healing process (6-8 weeks). After that, I would be free to change up the jewelry as I see fit. I laid down, and before I knew it, I had a nifty lil barbell in my ear. I've had multiple piercings before, but it's always worth mentioning when you have an effortless event that had the potential of being painful.    I received my aftercare sheet, and got to check out my ear in that fabulous wall of mirrors before making my way to the front desk. He showed me the jewelry that they carry in this specific gauge, and it was totally reasonable. I snagged a blingy bejeweled black barbell priced at $10, and was ready to cash out. But wait - there's more! If you check in with Yelp, you receive $10 off a piercing! SCORE! I basically got my jewelry for free!    All in all, super clean, thorough, friendly, and priced right. You can't ask for anything more when you're trusting people with your body. Read Less

Just got my tattoo done two days ago and it was a very nice experience. The place is very comfortable and the staff was very engaging and friendly. I enjoyed talking about art and design with Dave. Greg did my tattoo and it was almost painless! He was very precise and professional while still being personable. He made sure to show me he was using a new needle which I appreciated. All the areas are very clean and there is a nice area to hang while waiting (for others getting tattoos, etc.) where you can play video games while relaxing on comfy couches and also a pool table (free to use) to help pass the time. They have a Keurig coffee maker free for customers to help themselves with. The overall experience was very enjoyable and I highly recommend going here for a high quality tattoo and I will be back for more!Thanks guys for such a great experience!
