There is legitimately no where else I will go for a tattoo. The staff is incredibly talented and passionate. Getting a tattoo was actually never something I thought much about until I felt a strong desire to memorialize my daughter who recently passed away, unexpectedly. Getting a fresh zombie themed sleeve by Mike B. He took the concept to a whole new level and my idea was kind of crazy.... my Boston terrier as michonne from the walking dead, gallevanting through the post- apocalyptic world full of zombies. Among capturing my Boston's personality, he also had the challenge of covering a small tattoo in the piece and working around two existing pieces. I did tons of research on the shop and artists. Anywhere and everywhere there was something available I looked at it. Reviews, awards, various competitions , publications , competing shops / artists, consumer sites (BBB) and yes health department too. This shop and their artists have an impeccable reputation. So I drop in and talk with Krystal, give her some of my ideas, she recommends a few of their artists and I flip through the portfolios and go with Jay Blackburn as his style matches what I'm looking for. I have basic ideas but nothing firm. I schedule an appointment with Jay. During the appointment I'm pretty firm on the first tattoo but still unsure of a viable option for the second.  No pressure at all, Jay gives me some starting points and his contact info.  Over the next several days we exchange ideas via email until I'm comfortable with what I want for both tattoos . We set the appointment. On the day of the appointment I meet with Jay who has a few designs drawn out that are my ideas but 10 times better.  Needless to say, both tattoos came out far better then I had envisioned when I started out and Jay is an outstanding artist and lives up to his reputation including the "word on the street". The shop as a whole is a great place, clean modern equipment with great people who appear to all get along. I highly recommend this shop. After looking almost two months for the right shop I decided on Powerline. All of the artists there are amazing but I decided to go with Shane. He and I went to the same art school and I loved his style. It was a hard choice because everybody there was so good. The entire experience was great. Everybody was super friendly the movies/music that they played during the 20 or so hours my tattoo took was awesome. I have nothing but great things to sa...y about this place. However I would like to say that this is a custom shop where the artists have the hugest standards. So be prepared to wait to get an appointment and once you are there, you will have to wait for for your tattoo. The artists in general create a rough image of what you want during your consult but they may not creat your finished design until your first sitting. So you may have to spend a little time in the waiting room before your first sitting. It can be tough to do when your excited and want to get going but it is worth it. By far the best shop I've been in. I just got my first tattoo with Powerline, and was very pleasantly surprised. I scheduled a consultation, which only took 15 minutes because I wanted a small tattoo. Mike was my artist and he was fun, professional, and made me feel very comfortable with my decision and the tattoo in general. On the day of my appointment, he took his time explaining the process, even going so far as to stencil on the tattoo before actually inking it in so I could decide if I needed to make any changes. Since I was getting a Harry Potter themed tat, he let my boyfriend and I put on Goblet of Fire while he tatted me up. I barely felt a thing. Overall, I paid $50 for a down payment, then $10 for the rest and left a $15 tip. Evan is a superior artist, and currently has a 1 year waiting list. I would definitely recommend getting on the list to have him do your tattoo if you are looking for a high quality piece of art on your body.My experience was with Jay Blackburn and was not as good. I did not end up getting tattooed but my son did, with issues. I brought in 2 pieces that I wanted on my wrists to a scheduled consultation. Jay looked them over, said, "Yep, I can definitely do these" and I paid my 100.00 deposit and scheduled my tattoos. So excited! I showed up on my day, waited about 45 minutes before Jay came out and he said, "Yeah, these's no way I can do one of those tattoos on your wrist. We'll have to do something totally different, change it up, I can reschedule you for another time?". I had taken time out of work to be there, and really wanted to get my tats, and looked up some other designs, and basically what it came down to was that he hadn't looked in detail at my designs, or drawn them up, until the day I showed up to have them done. Feeling uncomfortable with how Jay handled the situation, I debated about seeing another artist, and eventually decided to wait on my tats. I would put my deposit toward my husbands piece, a full shoulder space piece that he had discussed with Evan, and gone over drawings with, looking to get on his waiting list for a cancellation. He and Evan had hit it off, and looked over pictures together, and Evan said he could do his tattoo if he got a cancellation because he was doing space themed pieces right now. Great! I firmed it all up with Kara & Krystal, who are both extremely nice, and we waited. I didn't hear anything, so I double checked. Yep, no problem, we can use your deposit on your husbands piece. OK. A month later and we are going on vacation, I check in to let them know we will be away if Evan gets a cancellation, and we are told your husband was never added to the list for a cancellation spot. Sigh.My son's tattoo was a poetry piece on his forearm. Very even, crisp, neat lines done by Jay, awesome placement, but he double spaced one of the letters in the phrase. So instead of "I'll ever" it says "I 'll ever". My son didn't catch it on the sketch, so bad on him. It was his first tattoo.All in all they have been very cordial and are refunding my deposit, so no harm done, but I do not have faith in the shop in general from the experience I had. Read Less

I go here for all of my tattoos. I've specifically gone to Mike.B for all of my tattoos that I've gotten done. However, while getting tattooed I've met all of the artists and they are great. The studio had a great vibe to it, with wonderful customer service and all of the artists are just in good moods.  I have no complaints about my artwork, and the artists are definitely into working with you. I love this tattoo shop. Everyone who works there is friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. The shop is like I've never seen before. There are separate rooms for each tattoo artist and piercer so people aren't constantly in the room and walking all around you. It's private and very peaceful. Evan is a genius. I gave him a lot of different ideas and he put them all together into an amazing piece of art. I can't wait to see what he's going to do to the finished product. While getting the tattoo done, Evan made me feel so comfortable allowed me to take a break whenever I needed one. The shop is set up very organized and I love that they actually have a waiting room where you can watch movies while you wait for them to set up. Ive had to reschedule a couple of times and they didn't make me feel like I was being a pain; they were so understanding.
