The work here is second rate. My wife and I spent $800 on a tattoo that was starting to fade inside a year. In talking to other ppl they told me that they were told to EXPECT this and they would HAVE to get it touched in the first six months and at least once every two years! I have seen 20 year old tattoos that look better the one year old tattoo from here. Lucky for me they didn't screw up the design of the tattoo but I know two ppl that they misspelled NAMES on theirs. STAY AWAY! Also to be noted when I posted this same review on Yelp I was notified that it was taken down "at the business's request" so they are actively banning bad reviews on social media. I was supposed to get a tattoo done and felt really relieved when I came in the shop after smelling that it was so clean. I have never had a tattoo before and had told them about my last bad experience with trying  to get one. The person I had was incredibly rude to me when I didn't EXACTLY know the dimensions I wanted. Then they made a rude comment on where I wanted it (upper thigh) and I became embarrassed. So I left with a scheduled appointment afterwards. Then I get a call that they do not want to do it and that they are cancelling on me. Thankfully I got my deposit back with a little aggravation. So about 4 weeks ago I got my tragus pierced by John before moving to NY. I can't stress how much I love this guy! SO clean and knowledgeable and professional;  sterilized everything at least two times in front of me, walked me through the process, answered my questions (scared of the pain and possible infections), and most of all he's honest. It was a breeze! Anyways, my earring had fallen out two days ago and I came in from NY for the weekend and John had taken care of me AGAIN with Amy's help and the two were awesome. Again, so clean and answered questions and didn't even charge me for having to come back and reinsert my earring! Johns the best! So knowledgeable- he's THE man to go to! Read Less

I drove 2 hours to get my first tattoo here. Let me tell you I am so happy and pleased I did. I personally am a person who gets easily intimidated going into the stereotypical tattoo parlor but they were friendly. They offered me some coffee and they had nice blue colors and a relaxing waiting area. My tattooist was Jason Thomas he walked me through the Aftercare for the tattoo and took his time and made sure all my questions were answered. He drew a stencil and showed it to me which I was astonished with it. I will definitely be coming back for my second tattoo :) Read Less

Ok I spent 4 hours here this past Saturday.  I had scheduled a Saturday appointment with Dani weeks ahead.  And sent a couple of poorly Photoshopped composites of what i was looking for.I arrived a few minutes late and I will checked in and Dani shared what she came up with.  Exactly what I was looking for.  I don't know how between my bad Photoshop skills and vague description she made something great.  I finished my paperwork and went in. Clean is an understatement..  I think Dani used a couple dozen gloves and everything was wrapped sterile and just overall a comfortable safe place.Yes tattoos hurt and it got long and tedious, but the time flew by as we chatted and she tattooed me.  She had pieces of flash up that were fantastic and she made sure I was comfortable and took breaks.  After it was all done I had an amazing piece on my arm, and was sore and happy.  I was given a good care and feeding of my artwork.  I paid and was on my way.  Overall an amazing experience and my tattoo is fantastic.  All of the staff are relaxed friendly and professional.  They love what they do and they do it extremely well. I've gotten 3 separate piercings here over the years and they did a wonderful job each time! (Septum, labret, daith) I've had different piercers and unfortunately I don't remember their names, however Marc's has my trust when it comes to piercing. Marc's is clean and professional however the work my wife got done is far from the best I have seen. She got an 800 dollar tattoo done and inside the first 6 months the outline of the tattoo started to "blow out" or "bleed" (whatever term you want to use).  Since it was her first tattoo and she was so happy to have it she didn't listen to me about it  when I pointed out the issue.  Now it's a 18 months later and we are saving up to get it touched up.It turns out that the tattoo artist is REALLY good at art but only ok at tattooing.  From what I can learn from the web and talking to other shops is that the ink was set too deep in her skin which allowed her immune system to access it too easily and that causes the ink "blow out".Also it turns out the size and location of the tattoo will lead to very uneven fading of the tattoo and will need to be touch up much more often than other tattoos.  While they don't have to tell you that my thought is if they are "professionals" they should to make sure you are happy with their work.  (Especially if it's your first tattoo and you don't know these things)Does all this mean that this an awful shop? No but it does mean they will not be getting our business EVER again and if a friend asked me where to get a tattoo i'd recommend someplace else. Read Less

I have had 2 tattoos completed at Marc's - about 10 years apart. I must say that these folks know what they are doing. The 10 year old tattoo still has clean lines and is pretty remarkable for an older color tattoo.I just got another chest/shoulder tattoo about 4 weeks ago by Liz. This tattoo has healed really quickly and nicely and the color set so beautifully. I get so many compliments on this tattoo. I'm planning my next tattoo already and I think Liz is the lady to do it! I've gotten 3 piercings done at Marc's, and I've never had a problem with any of them. They're very clean and sterile with the piercing process, and they explain everything they do before they do it! They're great with answering any questions and giving suggestions for post-piercing care. Pricing is average, but you know you're getting good jewelry for the price. Over the years, I've had my cartilage, rook and conch pierced for $40 each with titanium circular barbell/hoop. Sometimes you do have to wait quite a while in the waiting room if you don't make an appointment, but the staff is super friendly. Read Less

The staff here was super friendly and very informative. The vibe was great, the music was great, everyone was totally chill. The piercing artist was amazing, fast, and professional. 2 Stars :( 2016 - I made an appointment over two week in advance, paid my deposit and sent photos of exactly what I wanted and everything like I was supposed to and told the artist that was going to be doing my piece that I had old scars I was trying to get covered up. I show up on for my appointment and the artist (waring PJ pants, just hanging out on the couch) tells me that she can't do my tattoo because I didn't tell her I had scars on my leg and now I have to wait for them to heal more first, even though I sent her a picture of the scars with the drawing. The scars were over five years old and after she takes a look at them, she says that she can do it after all. And then she admits that she hasn't drawn the tattoo out yet and I have to come back in an hour....I am very annoyed at this point, and a little embarrassed about having to take off my pants to show her the scars, but I already put down my deposit so I agree to come back, giving her the benefit of the doubt. I return and I get my ink but the outline that I was told would take an hour, MAYBE an hour and a half, takes her a little over two hours to draw...she was also very heavy handed and almost two years later it is way more raised they is should be. She was rude, cold, and unprofessional (for being so slow to jack the price up).Even though the environment is very clean and sanitary, and she was able to copy my drawing well enough,  because of my negative experience, I didn't feel comfortable coming back andI had my color done somewhere else, which I know is super rude but that's how strongly I felt about it. I got my first tattoo here about two years ago. I was new to the area, so I just went there because it was the only place I had heard of and seemed to have a good reputation. When I walked in, it smelled like a doctor's office, so I at least knew it was clean. I gave the person working at the front desk my idea for the tattoo and when I came back to actually get it done, Andrew had drawn up something I couldn't have even imagined. It is so beautiful! I was really nervous getting it on my foot. I was a big baby about it, but Andrew and the artist at the next station over were extremely patient with me. I'm not sure if this place is still open.  Last time I was in town and drove past, I couldn't even see the sign.  Maybe I just forgot where to look.  :o/  Anyway, about nine years ago, I got my first tattoo done right at Marc's!  Everyone was really friendly and easy-going, while still professional.  I knew the piercer personally, and he was a sweetheart with a great sense of humor and amazing eye for piercing placement.  My tattoo is on my lower back.  After almost a decade, it's still clear and vibrant.  I will always cherish it and recommend people to Marc's.
