Im normally not one to write reviews but I just have to praise Erik. I got tattooed by him at the philly tattoo convention and he was incredible. I've never had a better experience getting tattooed, and I've met quite a few artists. Erik was so friendly and didn't make the time he spent tattooing me awkward at all. I left with an absoultely beautiful piece and I couldn't be happier. I live 3 and a half hours from this shop but I can guarantee that I'll make that drive a million times over to get tattooed by Erik. I normally don’t review but felt I should share my experience. I have only been tattooed by one artist prior to going to Jo. He was able to squeeze me in last minute which I was extremely grateful for. I got a traditional piece to add to a traditional leg sleeve. He quickly came up with a sketch and was able to get me back super quick. The tattoo itself came out wonderful and was beyond satisfied. The other thing I want to comment on is the great conversation we had. He didn’...t make me feel like just another quick buck. We actually discussed a unique business idea I came up with for tattoo artist supplies! The final part that really took me by surprise was the bandage. It was not a typical tape and bandage, he uses burn victim clear tape. It allows the tattoo to heal naturally and still be visible through the process. My 16 year old son has wanted a tattoo for a couple of years. So when we decided to pull the trigger on it, we let him do all the research. Living in New York, under 18 can’t get a tattoo even with parental consent, and we’re glad he can’t. This stupid law allowed him to find Alex Zahorsky and this studio. His work is beautiful and artistic and he is an interesting guy with a really likeable personality. He removed all apprehension for my son in the way he interacted with him. I was extremely nervous to get my other daughter's portrait tattooed on my inner left on, after all the good recommendations I decided to go for it! The staff was very helpful and as for Joe the tattoo artist Who did my daughters portrait was so professional but very social as well, sitting in the chair for 5 1/2 hours Joe makes you feel like you have know him for years and you're just sitting there talking to one of your good friends just bull shitting about the old days or whatever! I just got ink at another shop, because I came here a few years ago on the recommendation of a friend. They gave me an appointment for the following week, but the artist was sick. They never called me to reschedule. They gave me another artist who didn't get the writing straight on my curved leg. Very disappointed. Read Less

Yesterday, 3/7/17, was the second time I have gotten a tattoo done by Erik Gola at Art Rage! He's absolutely amazing! He kept me lauging and made me feel right at home! The shop is spotless, awesome prices, and most important.. the staff is extremely friendly and they all make you feel very comfortable. I had a blast getting the first half of the tattoo I've been dreaming about since I was 16!! I love that all the employees checked in on the progress of the piece and gave me words of encouragement about how good I was taking the pain & complimenting how nice it was coming along!! Had the best experience both times I've been to the studio. Today I got a fairly intricate piece of work done by Erik Gola- I cannot express the phenomenal job he did. All the guys in the shop were extremely personable, continuously checked in on how the work was going, and Erik himself was very receptive to what I was looking for.
