I emailed the shop about making an appointment and Scott got back to me promptly saying for the small piece that I wanted, I could just come in early on a Saturday. I went right for 12 when they opened and they took me immediately. This was my first tattoo and even thought I knew I wanted it for years, I was of course still a bit nervous. My artist was Weylin and he was seriously great. Made me feel comfortable, but wasn't over the top and didn't make me feel like I should be any more nervous than I was. We chatted while he was doing my tattoo and he laughed at my nervous jokes and after just 10-15 minutes it was over and he welcomed me to the "other side." Not painless of course, but super easy :)The shop is really awesome. Clean, bright, great inspiration on the walls...which is good because I'm already scheming my next piece. He was getting his first tattoo, two letters in Japanese kanji. Two simple letters but it means so incredibly much to us and our story. We got there right on the dot at 12PM because we were extremely excited to get this tattoo done (and extremely nervous.) We wanted to be there right when it opened!Our tattoo artist was Marco - he was also the front desk when we walked in. The real six star reviews truly begin after the initial greeting though. My hubby has a fear of needles and I had no idea how severe that fear was. But he actually fainted during the first five minutes. It was TERRIFYING! I had no idea that would happen - neither of us expected it. But what happened next was absolute A++ professionalism. The owner Scott and another tattoo artist Justin were both there. And everyone all helped my husband sit down and come back from his blackout in just a minute or two. We didn't know but apparently it can happen often to people when they are super nervous and all their adrenaline just bunches up. It makes sense! It's terrifying but it does happen quite more often than people talk about.But the way they handled holding my husband upright and seating him down, the way they knew exactly what to do because of their years of experience in dealing with first timers anxiety was so so kind. I never felt from anyone there any judgement or bad feelings about the situation. They were just sweet and caring! And I loved how incredibly down to earth Scott seemed. He was calm and kind! I would absolutely come back to have my own first tattoo from him too just basing off how kind they were. Marco ran out to get some OJ and get some sugar in my hubby to help his blood sugar levels. Amazing! Went in to get an existing tattoo re-colored. The shop is bright, clean and the artists are friendly and professional. Marco gave me options for my existing tat, either to re-outline/color the entire thing or just re-color. I chose to re-do the entire piece and now it looks super fresh and even better than when I first got it done 8 years ago.For healing, they put an adhesive thing (not saran wrap) on your tat that you leave on for a few days. I was amazed that when I took it off, my tattoo was pretty much healed. It was way better than constantly applying lotion, etc. and worrying about keeping my tat clean during those first few crucial days.I'll definitely be back - these guys are legit. Read Less

They closed at 8 and I showed up at 7:30 and they still took me and put in effort even though I made them stay atleast an hour later than closing. Very professional. Highly recommend this tattoo shop and the owner/tattoo artist Scott. My friend and I walked into Eastern Pass to get small text tattoos, unsure if they could even take us or if we'd get ridiculed for our tattoo choice ("too legit to quit" ;)), but we met Scott right as we walked in and he immediately eased any concerns we had. First I want to say I never write reviews at all good or bad so this is my first ever review. Eastern Pass is a great place, all of the artists here are great down to earth people and I never felt uncomfortable anytime I was there. Everyone was very helpful answering all of my questions.  I did some research on Eastern Pass Tattoo and really liked the reviews I read and also looked up some of the artwork so I decided to stop in to talk to someone about getting a portrait of my dog who I had to put down about a month ago. I walked in and was greeted by Scott Bakoss who is a great person and great artist. I explained to him what I wanted to get done and showed him the picture of my dog I wanted to use for the tattoo and where I wanted it placed. We talked about it and then agreed on a date and time.  Fast forward three weeks later and my tattoo is AMAZING! Scott did an excellent job, I was blown away and I still can't believe how much the tattoo resembles the picture of my dog. Came in on a rainy cold day hoping to not have to wait too long- had an appointment at Massage Philly up the street. Walked up and was not greeting by the young man at the desk, instead he just stared at us as if we didn't belong. I gave an awkward "hello" and explained to him what I would like and asked to see script because I hadn't decided yet which I wanted. He started his response with "well no, what we do is...." contrary to what he may be used to - I get to determine what is put on my body for the rest of my life, not a stranger working the desk at a shop. Additionally the amount he quoted me..without knowing what the tattoo would even be completely.... an amount I wasn't satisfied with. I visited Eastern Pass Tattoo a few weeks ago, and even tho I was in their chair for only a few hours my experience will last a lifetime. From the moment you walk through the door, you've entered not only into a cool thrift shop nestled in a nice neighborhood, but you're only a few stairs away from walking into what feels like a gallery surrounded by working artists. I'm in the lifelong process of getting 50 tattoos from 50 different states on my two sleeves. I do as much research about the tattoo artists and shops in the area I'm visiting, to ensure that I'm getting the very best. I made many phone calls to the local shops in Philadelphia, and Scott was very helpful setting up a time that worked for our little vacation. He was the first one to welcome my two kids, girlfriend, and I into the shop. He would ultimately put a long awaited, long overdue tribute tattoo on my girlfriends shoulder that came out beautifully.I was so fortunate to have Weylin Traugott as my artist. He took ideas of mine that I had emailed into the shop and worked on them before we ever met. He worked diligently and committed to creating a very bad ass tattoo. From the get-go, Scott was professional and timely in his correspondence via email, and I was super appreciative of that. Scott was willing to set up a time to meet with me and discuss my idea, and when I went to his shop, I was totally impressed. It was beautiful, bright, open and clean with awesome artwork displayed, and books of tattoos done by Scott and his team at Eastern Pass Tattoo Co. It was a super comfortable, non-intimidating environment. Chris was the first to greet me, and he seemed super sweet and down-to-earth from the beginning, and then I met with Scott upon his arrival and he was the same. These guys are super cool and talented while remaining down-to-earth and friendly, which is HUGE when you're walking into a tattoo shop already nervous and wondering what the people who work there will be like and if you'll feel judged, which can totally happen in that kind of an environment. Scott was also super helpful in terms of designing the tattoo and being honest with me about what would work and what would be too much. Because I was so comfortable and at ease in the shop, I opted to have the tattoo done right then and there and I was super happy with the whole experience. Scott was conversational throughout and super sterile and responsible in his approach to the whole thing. Overall, it's a great spot on the Ave and I'm stoked these guys are there; they're pretty much the ideal artists in terms of who they are, how they come across and what they're capable of doing.
