My friend and I came in for piercings. I called earlier in the day to ensure they had availability to do so, and was greeted by a really friendly employee. He told me absolutely, and to just walk-in. When we arrived, he remembered me calling and gave us an approximate wait time since the artists were finishing tattoos. Greg pierced my nose years ago and I chose to return here this time because of the good experience I had. Greg was just as wonderful as the first time with his accommodation and attentiveness. My friend was pierced by someone else (unfortunately I forget his name) but he was also very friendly and efficient. I just got my first tattoo today and I had such a great experience. It all started with Tim at the front desk, who was super friendly and cool, and ended with Joe, who did my tattoo. He was very nice and informative (which is great because I got a wrist tattoo and he warned me beforehand that wrist tattoos shift a little when you turn your wrist because of the bones in the arm). While he was going, he would stop to check on me and ask if I was doing okay, which was great (but I have a high pain tolerance so I was good the entire time lol). Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place, and if you can swing in on a Friday or Saturday to get Joe, then yay for you. Went there and actually just left there. I wanted to ask a couple questions about getting something repeirced.. I had my son with me as well. I walked in, and there was noone at the front.. Waited for about 15 mins. Still noone came out to the front..There were about 3 other customers inside waiting also.. A guy finally came out to take a payment from a customer, then helped another customer who I believe was buying a tounge ring.. Then looks at me and tells me very rudely " No kids under 12 were allowed at the shop. Idk if anyone told you''.. Been getting piercings here since 05, tattoos since 09 and needless to say it's one of those places you can trust to be clean and do good work (especially if your into the traditional tattooing style). Highly recommend Greg as he's my personal favorite artist but honestly they all do really good work. Had a weird experience with Dave Fox.Consultation, he called my cover up I had "wrong." And when I gave him my ideas, he said "nah well do it my way because that way is wrong." Dude. It's my tattoo... Tip=goneDuring the session he free handed on my arm. Wasn't feeling the lower sleeve. Suggested him knocking out a different part of my arm instead, to which he replied "nah if we're not doing that (the markered part) we're done."Okay bye. I'm leaving with my $1000.Never had an artist act like that.By the way, he's $200 an hour, the most you will pay any artist around besides famous ones. His work is pretty good if you're into that stuff like I am, but his customer service sucks. Just seemed like an angry dude or maybe he wanted to be in control. I got my latest body modification done in this fine establishment, and it was a wonderful experience. Or as wonderful an experience can be when having spikes driven through your flesh. My best friend and I went to Studio One on a Friday night with no appointment. Thankfully we were made to feel very welcome and were taken right back before I could bitch out. Alyssa was my piercer and she did her best to put me at ease. Her piercing was very quick and efficient which I appreciated. After the piercing when it looked like I might hit the floor, Alyssa gave me water and helped me regain my composure. Studio One is super clean and the staff is very competent and do phenomenal work. I stopped in on a Friday night without an appointment to get a tattoo. There were a bunch of people there already, mostly for piercings, but I was greeted pretty quickly and the whole process from entry to exit probably only took 40-50 minutes.Ben was my artist and he did a great job. He also was kind enough to chat with me and ease some of my nervousness. He suggested I name the two elephants I got on my wrist, which I have now done (Ellie and Elmer Elephant). Very welcoming staff, neat and clean lobby and flash wall. I have had two tattoos done here now. One on my back and one on my ribs as well as a touch up on a previous tattoo. Greg did one and Ben did the other. Greg isn't the most talkative person but he does very clean work. He did beautifully sharp characters on on back. I loved my experience with Ben. He did a wonderful orchid on my ribcage. As I was walking in for my appointment the other artists there told me how much he had been practicing for my tattoo. Which just made me all the more confident in his work. As a person with a low pain tolerance the ribs aren't a nice place to get done. But he worked quickly and let me take breaks.I'd recommend setting up an appointment if you have a larger or more complex piece to ensure the best work possible, to get the artist you want, and to have next to no wait time. They do have a walk-in day but you might be waiting a while to be seen. Studio One is and has been one of my favorite tattoo shops. The staff are highly qualified and unlike some other establishments in the area they care about the tradition of tattooing and apprenticeship. The owner Paul is a really great guy and has built an awesome business. I have tattoos from almost every person who works here. The place is super clean and there's tons of flash on the walls and books to look through for each artist. Appointments are easy to make and there's a convenient lot for parking next door.  I have also had several piercings done here and the staff is professional and knowledgeable. This place is great.  I got two tats here, they were both so well done I will tell them in chronological order.Tattoo #1: Flaming Smoking Skull for my Father: I got my first tattoo here for my father that passed away a few years back, it was the first time I had anything put on my body and I'm in my mid-thirties and work for a Forbes 500 company on the professional ladder, so body art still is really "accepted" in my field of work, but I needed a way to express my emotions and wanted it to be lasting but classy.  After looking at several sites and reading several reviews I decided on Studio One tattoo in Norwood, PA.  The shop is very welcoming and basically looks like any other tat shop, but it is not the décor that is important to me, it is the customer service, professionalism and attitude.  For my first tat the owner (Paul Palladino - which is a very straight, cool, normal dude just looking to help you out) introduced me to the idea of tattooing and how a design "flows" on your body.  For my design I brought in a PowerPoint slide and after a week I came back and the artist that took my design "Jimmy" made his own with the advice of Paul Palladino, it turned out WAY BETTER than I have ever imaged.  During the process they were cool normal people, no attitude, I could have been buying a painting from them, they just approached me like a normal customer and had me consider different things etc.  They look like any other tat shop but the right attitude is there, which is a big plus for me.Since I had such a great experience the first time I was thinking over the next four years of getting another one and thought maybe I should try someone else.  So I looked at reviews from Philly to Wilmington, and Studio One was one of the top three in the region.  So I entered a few placed and they all had the "we are cooler than you" attitude or made me wait a half hour before anyone would even ask, "what can I help you with".  Studio One is immediate, Alyssa comes out and sees you, very cool, like you are there to get your hair cut or something, no facade, very genuine, that is the trust I need to feel when I'm getting something that will stay on my body forever.  Since I had a good experience the first time I decided to go back to where I KNOW I will get good service, Studio One tat in Norwood.Tattoo #2: Koi Dragon: I wanted something that could describe my life and my personality, I tried with Kenji and other Chinese characters but decided not to mess around with a language that I did not understand myself.  When I first showed up they said "speak with Kevin, he knows that sort of Asian stuff", so I returned and met Kevin Riley who also by the way is a professional himself, builds his own tat guns and has a separate site with blog full library and does these sorts of super complicated designs.  The best thing about working with Kevin was how easy it was to share ideas.  Unlike a lot of shops, Kevin communicated by e-mail for all my designs, which were sent as ppt, or pdf files from online sources.  He usees an iPad to schedule everyone and everything is at his fingertips, very nice!  I just got it done and it is just beautiful.  The shop is cool, we talked about politics and history hanging in the shop for 4 hours while he did the tat, everyone was very professional actually, cool laid back people but nothing weird, like they were all sort of some family under Paul, I really like that business atmosphere.  On top of that Kevin did my huge tat all in one sitting without rushing.  Originally, he quoted me for about 6 hours, two sessions each, in the end it came out to 4 hours and he charged me for such, he could have made me come back and made 30% more salary, but he didn't, he was extremely fair, so I tipped him good, people like actually deserve good tips. Users reviews really matter, unlike 15 years ago, today I will not purchase something online or go to a business unless the reviews are all great, one bad review can really kill your business, it is really unfortunate.  Do not judge the place by its online site (which just needs an update and should be done since this is the "face" of your business), look at the individual artist pages, just stop in or read all the great reviews here, I see others have had similar experiences.  Well I have to say, I have had two tats done here, they were both amazing, I am very happy with the service there and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone who wishes to get a tat there, your first or twentieth, Studio One tattoo is worth the trip.  I guess lastly I would like to admit that this is the FIRST time I have EVER written an online review about any product ever.  I usually read a ton but never contribute, this time I felt compelled because of the quality of the work and people, it was worth the effort of dropping a word about what I think.  These guys (and girl) are awesome.Cheers,Matthew S Read Less

I have had one tattoo done here and my boyfriend has had all six of his done here. My boyfriend's were all done by Kevin and mine was done by another artist.I got mine for my 20th birthday. I got a Neuron tattoo on my ribs. I wanted colored dendrites but the artist respectfully told me for such detailed areas, black would be less likely to fade. I took his advice. I am glad they are honest here and do what is best for quality of the tattoo. I'm sure other places would just do anything for the customer without thinking about quality over the long term.I was very satisfied with my tattoo. My boyfriend's tattoos have held up very well and still look great. His first one done is about 6 years old now. Mine is 3 years old and the lines are still very crisp. I think the prices here can be a bit high - but I am willing to pay that price for something I know will be high quality. Read Less

I went to Studio One to get a small, uncomplicated tattoo on the recommendation of a friend. The artist who actually did the tattoo was friendly and it came out just how I wanted, but I found the owner of the shop to be arrogant, unhelpful and generally unfriendly. Legendary Tattoo Shop, great prices and very talented artists. After visiting a lot of other shops up and down the East Coast, it has been the only place I go to for 20 years. Young guns and old heads so their skills/styles are up to date and first rate. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment during the week. Ladies and gentlemen, if you are very interested in getting some body art i would highly recommend heading to these pros. One, they treat you very well as you step into the doors very welcoming, not like other shops where they seem somewhat intimidating. Two, the shop is very clean and organized.
