Besides the gentleman who was working the front desk when we walked in, everyone else was very rude and not helpful. I’ve been to other shops before and they were much more engaging and accommodating. Thankfully, the tattoo itself was done nicely and wasn’t too expensive, which is the reason why I’m not giving this shop 1 star. However, when attempting to get my second tattoo a year later one of the employees was somewhat rude to me for what I wanted and the fact he was busy at the time despite me just asking questions and being patient. I ended up leaving and going to a new tattoo place which I still loyally go to. The work is great and the person who did it was wonderful but I cannot speak for other employees and the prices are somewhat high. Whether a seasoned vet or a newcomer, you can expect quality work done in professional surroundings. This is far from a "Scratch" shop, sanitary and well maintained, the staff are friendly & knowledgeable, Lively but relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking for a cheap, dive location who will fill up space on you for a "bargain" fee, this is NOT the place for you! But if you're looking for a shop that charges FAR BELOW cost in comparison to quality work given, then look no further! Advertises as "award winning custom ink", which is what I wanted. I went in with different elements that I wanted incorporated and some examples of the style I liked. The guy started browsing the internet, and said he'd draft something. An hour later he showed us what he printed off (no sketching involved) where he had literally copied the tattoos I had shown him into a really bad composition with the quote I wanted just thrown across the top with typewriter font. It was really, really, bad. Anyone could have thrown it together in 5 minutes if they knew how to work photoshop. When I told him that I didn't like it he got really irritated and let me know that he couldn't waste any more time than he already had on it. Mind you, I had contacted them before showing up about making an appointment, everything I wanted, and they insisted I just walk in. Terrible customer service. Terrible 'custom' designs (how can a design be custom when it's drag & drop into photoshop with no sketching involved). 0/10 would NOT recommend Read Less

I had my tattoo done by Ryan. Took two 2 hour sessions plus a final visit to do touch ups. It was a complex design, and so I was a little worried at first but it went really well. He was really chill, took my input and also gave me his experience, so by the end I had a gorgeous piece of art that's going to be something I treasure. Pain was minimal, getting your eyebrows threaded hurts more than a tattoo to be honest. The shop is very clean, they have their certificates up on the wall for you to see, and they don't pressure you at all. They really want you to get what you want. Read Less

I can't decide where to start, every aspect of my experience with Ryan today was absolutely on point. 1. I'm visiting from California so my sister stopped in and explained what herself, our mom, and I wanted to have done earlier this week. The staff was wonderful about accommodating my not extremely flexible schedule and after getting an idea of what we wanted they were totally cool with sketching our ideas up when we came in. 2. This was my moms first tattoo, she was nervous and jumpy and had millions of questions. Not only was Ryan helpful, but he was calming and full of knowledge in every possible area. My sister and I made her go first so she wouldn't chicken out and Ryan explained everything and started slow so she knew what to expect. 3. He was totally real with us. He told me if I did mine any smaller it wouldn't turn out right so we slightly altered his design and bingo, it was exactly how I pictured it. My mom had a general idea but wasn't sure what picture she wanted with our coordinates, what started with feet ended up being a heart, flower, and crown to represent her children and Ryan totally flowed with the changes and would throw in advice as we needed it. 4. The environment was clean and it was clear the tools were taken care of. We watched him set up and clean everything and our constant conversation never bothered him. We actually got to know a bit about him which made our experience even more personal and meaningful. 5. His work is impeccable. His attention to detail and killer skills (especially small line work) was like nothing I have ever seen before. I am beyond thrilled and excited over how perfectly all three of our tattoos came out. I can't wait to have him do a more detailed piece for me when I'm back for Christmas. This dude is a gem and anyone that is tattooed by him is extremely lucky to experience his style. Had my first tattoo here about 4 months ago. My best friend and I were walk-ins about an hour before they closed and I didn't get in the chair till about 25 minutes. They were very nice about it and they took me despite that fact! It didn't hurt at all- they did a great job on the design too. I've been getting tattooed for almost as long as I've been alive, I'm about 70% covered now, and Living Arts is the only shop I go to for my work. The owner, Brian, is extremely knowledgeable and very talented, though any of the resident artists will serve you well. Moreover, the tattooers aren't hesitant to shut down an idea that simply will not translate well onto the skin; making a buck off of the inexperienced is not a priority here. Don't be fooled by ignorant one star reviews regarding reception; the ART at Living Arts is exceptional. I came to Living Arts with my design in hand. After a consultation regarding the details and getting the necessary paperwork out of the way, I was promptly taken to the back to get stabbed.I was tattooed by Steve on a Saturday as a walk in. He was friendly, professional,  and did excellent work. It did not hurt at all and I was out of there promptly. The shop is very clean and not intimidating at all in regards to appearance or the clientèle. Most importantly, Steve took extra time to go over after-care procedures with me.I would recommend this place highly to anyone, especially if it is their first time. I swear by living arts. I currently have 8 tattoos on my arms 7 of them done by Ryan and Scott. This place is my home away from home and the artists are spectacular. They will help you the best the can given what you want. If they tell you no or it cant be done its for good reasons. I recently had my first tattoo done at Living Arts - it was a memorial to a loved one who had recently died so it was a very emotional experience for me, as well as being my first tattoo. I was incredibly nervous. Josh did my tattoo, and he was unbelievably patient and willing to work with me to get the placement of the tattoo just right and exactly the color of ink that I wanted. I brought my own drawing, and the tattoo I ended up with looks exactly like what I had drawn / pictured in my mind. The process itself hardly hurt at all - nowhere near as bad as I'd been expecting - and was done very quickly. I would definitely go back to Living Arts, and recommend them to anyone. Read Less

about a year ago, i went to this shop to buy my husband a tattoo but i didn't know anything about the tattoo or appointment process. i had about a thousand questions and needed someone to take time with me. i spoke to the girl at the front counter named stacy. she was covered in tattoos and an absolute sweetheart. she answered all my questions even though she was really busy. she explained the entire process from beginning to end with me and even explained aftercare so i knew i should wait til after our trip to the islands to give him his gift certificate. when we got back from vacation we met with stacy and brian for a consultation and set up our appointment. the following week my husband got his first tattoo. we could not be happier with the art and atmosphere. I made an appointment (after showing Brian my ideas) 3 weeks out. He called the DAY OF to say he ""didn't take my design seriously and needs more time"". Then he asked me to 'help' by finding additional images for him to use. I'm sorry, who's job is it to play artist? Fast forward another month and repeated calls and emails. No response to email and every phone call is ""I'm working on your's now, it'll be a couple of days"". Bullsh!t. I've had enough. There are plent of artists just as good who actually do the work they are paid to. After waiting 2 months and seeing NOTHING I called my CC company and disputed the deposit charge since I don't have faith that ANYONE will do the right thing to help what would have been a repeat customer w/ lots of referral leads. I went to this place recently to get a tattoo because I had read so many great things about it online. My experience was horrendous and caused me to walk out highly annoyed and angry at the girl in front without a tattoo. The girl working at the front was extremely short tempered with me because I had a few questions and she could not stop making rude faces at my tattoo. Now, my tattoo was very simple, just an outline of a small design, while she had nasty, classless tattoos all over her arms. All that means to me is that we have different tastes in tattoos...but to her it meant that it was okay to make faces at my tattoo as if it was the worst tattoo she had ever seen and drive me out of that place. She didn't want to answer any of my questions and continued to look at me like I was an alien when, in fact, she is the one who was quite obnoxious. I was not about to pay $100 for that kind of attitude when it was my first tattoo experience and i needed someone who was actually kind person to explain a few things about the tattoo. The other thing is that I wanted it on my foot and she gave me this whole speech on the fact that it will fade and that they do not do free touch ups for foot tattoos. I walked out of there annoyed and went to the Lion's Den across the street where Tony was so friendly and cool about the whole thing and also said that touch ups for foot tattoos are free. It was also only $80! I would never recommend this place to anyone I know unless you want to go somewhere where they treat you with the utmost rudeness and don't care about what happens to you. A tattoo is a serious art form in the sense that it permanent and you want to make sure that you have the right people involved who care about your tattoo and are willing and friendly to answer your questions. The fact that they do free touch ups on foot tattoos at the Lions Den and also are less expensive are just added bonuses! Read Less
