I've told this story a million times. Jaybird did my first tatt on my 30th birthday which was on a Sunday. He opened his shop especially for me because this would be a memory for the rest of my life. I will never forget this and it will be 26 years ago next month. He is the nicest man. Went in there for a custom coverup tattoo quite a few years ago. Drawing looked great. Payed $400 bucks and got to work. 3 hours later jay bird said something came up and I'd have to come back in 2 weeks to finish it. I told him I'd be deployed overseas and won't be back for a year. He said as long as I had the receipt he will finish it whenever I get back. A year goes by. I go back to jay birds, stencil and receipt in hand. He doesn't remember the drawing. He asks for the receipt so he can match it with the cop[y in his files. It was my mistake apparently for letting him take my receipt. He went to the back and didn't come back. Instead, his daughter comes out asking if I need help. I said I was waiting on Jay bird and she said he wasn't in today. I'm sure you can imagine how I felt. I now had no receipt, no drawing, no proof aside from my witness who was with me both visits. Horrible establishment, no wonder he was never able to keep good artists around.I had to have his trash work reworked by another artist who was not surprised at all to hear this story about Jay Birds shop.
