Stacy is the best tattoo artist I have ever been to, and I've been to a few. Since discovering her I've entrusted her with two full sleeves and a back pieces, one sleeve was a partial cover up and refresh and she's absolutely incredible at both. The rest was original custom artwork that years later is still bright, vibrant and crisp. I've never healed so easily as after sessions with her. She puts her client first, listening to you and working with you to ensure what you want is feasible, will hold up over time and sized appropriately for where you want it. Incredibly clean studio, she's quick and precise and you are left with clear aftercare instructions, whether this is your first tattoo or the 15th hour down on a large piece. I haven't been tattooed at this shop before, but I'm a tattoo enthusiast and I have to say the quality of the work is way below what I would expect for an artist who claims to be one of the best Japanese style artists in the area. Her lines are good, but the shading is really poor and muddled. I'm also kind of put off by the fact that this shop works by appointment only, seems kind of snooty to me.I WAS however pierced here and the bulk of my negative review is based on that experience. I came in a few years ago to have my ear pierced. I tried to ask for a straight piece of jewelry because I knew that was better for healing (less movement). The piercer talked me into getting a fixed bead ring instead. I think she just didn't have any straight barbells out and didn't want to be bothered to get one. Anyway, she pierced me at 18g and said she wanted me to come back in a couple weeks and she would stretch it up to 16g. Why not just pierce me at 16g, I'll never know. Her putting in the fixed bead ring was extremely painful because of the nature of that jewelry, you have to do a lot of twisting and pulling to get it shut and that's awful for a fresh piercing. It was even worse when I came back and she put in the 16g jewelry. I guess she was nice enough but her technique was baffling and caused me so much unnecessary pain. I should have never come back and let her change the jewelry but I was pretty young and trusting of the professional. Read Less

Avoid at all costs.  I was purposefully scarred by the tattoo artist here in '99 and had to get a cover up (she had green or pink hair at the time and claimed she was one of the best tribal tattoo artists around). I clearly should've known better when she told me she hated college students but you put your trust in these people and hope for the best. I've had six other pieces done since then and before I had her damage covered up every tattoo artist I went to said that her acts were criminal.  Do yourself a favor and go to a professional studio, not one that employs a sociopath. Beautiful tattoos, friendly, professional staff, and the cleanest tattoo studio I have ever walked into. I've been going to Chrome Gardens for more then a decade, have had most of my tattoos and all of my piercings done there, and have always been treated with complete courtesy. Owner is renowned but other artists are amateur. After paying 200$, I got a jail house looking tattoo that I had to pay more money to get fixed. Rude staff, kept my deposit and never heard from them. Unless you pay the big bucks for the owner, avoid this place. Read Less

I have been to a handful of tattoo studios in 3 different states. I heard about Chrome Gardens through a friend and contacted Stacy via email with photos of my existing work and what I was looking for in new and cover up art. We sent emails, photos and tracings back and forth a few times, she took my thoughts and incorporated them into a beautiful piece of work that is a partial coverup piece as well as new work surrounding an existing tat I liked. I flew up from Houston, TX and am planning for another trip even now. I refuse to go anywhere else. This place rocks and cares for its clients by giving expert aftercare advice, thats important to me since I live so far away.Read Less
