I have 14 tattoos as of today. All but 3 have been done at evolution (2 down in Florida and my first one was done by a friend) The one I just got was by John the owner. The significance of this tattoo is beyond words and he worked with me to make sure it's exactly what a wanted ! Gave me input as well and although I stuck to what I wanted it (it reads towards me as opposed to others) his response was "No worries it's going on your body forever you have to love it!" And I absolutely do ! I've also been tattooed by Melissa who is literally an artistic genius !!!!!!!! She has made the crazy visions in my head a reality and Sara as well! Real down to earth chick. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. I got my cartilage pierced, and on the same day my cousin got her Tragus done. Both of us had very bad swelling and pain days after getting our piercings. I went in for jay (the piercer) to look at my swollen ear and was told to just ice it and take Ibuprofen. 2 days later, my ear was swollen even more and I had to leave work to go to the shop because the pain was unbearable. When I went back to get my piercing removed, they CHARGED ME $20. My cousin's swelling was so bad that her tragus swallowed the earring. Wanting nothing to do with evolution anymore, she went to a different studio to help her out. The equipment HAD TO be dirty if we both experienced similar problems. We were cleaning our piercings 6 times a day, like we were told, with the recommended spray from the studio. I have several other piercings and this was BY FAR my worst experience. Read Less

I'm sorry to say my lion tattoo was horrible. My first tattoo/rework previous by Melissa came out great. But I scheduled my second tattoo with her shortly after. After emailing my idea like evolution asked me to do and waiting , calling 3 times over a 3 week waiting period I never got a final drawing of my tattoo. On the 3rd call the day before my appointment I was told no images/drawing s can be given out before the work is done. I already paid for half the tattoo in my depo...sit. I tried not make an issue and figured it would be fine. Mellisa did a good job last time so I trusted her. Boy was I wrong. I am not an artist and it should have been given more attention. This tattoo was rushed and last minute with no planning as she copied and created the stencil right there basically not drawing her own original and copying the exact same drawing from another artist except squeezing it into too small of an area. I just went on her previous work on me and figured once it was done it would be fine with shading. The outline looked ok to me but I couldn't exactly see the side of my neck perfectly. I should have stopped her but I figured once it was shaded in it would be 100%. The outline was only part of this tattoo and all the details in the tattoo make it what it is. And also the top of the tattoo was kind of left blank. My neck was so red after and swollen that I didn't notice until the next morning. She offered to do more work on it but I passed after this situation I could not trust someone doing that on my neck again. I think this tattoo didn't fit well and I wasn't closed minded. I told her to give me any ideas or changes to make this tattoo look good and adjust it accordingly. Man.....that went bad. This is my final product. Please be honest with people when a tattoo DOES NOT WORK or it is not your best style to do . Simple honesty and answering the phone 3 times to stop my work didn't help either. I really feel like this was not 2 & half hours work.The second tattoo is the cover up. Skin Illustrations did the skull cover up. I trusted mellisa and of all places my neck turned out terrible. I think an artist should always give their advice and let you know if it doesn't work or it is sized too big. Here are the pictures attached. The lion was the one done at Evolution. Got my third tattoo done here a while ago, and I have to say that the only reason it's getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because the kid who greeted us was super nice. Aside from that, whomever our artist was, he didn't bother to give us a name, was rude. The tattoos are very far from what we expected quality wise and there are many spots in the lining that will have to be filled in(since the lining was done super thick and there are spots literally missing ink) my bestfriend(w...hom has about 20 tattoos and has never had an issue before this) ended up having an allergic reaction to whatever ink was used. It's unfortunate, we had high expectations for this place and were looking for a new tattoo guy, but we will definitely not be going back here again. I began coming here at the recommendation of a co-worker, whose whole family had been tattooed by Melissa.  I didn't ask for Melissa and instead, got my first (and second!) tattoo ever from Thom, who -- on both visits -- took a simple idea I had and made it look so much better than I had personally envisioned.   You know how people say that getting your first tattoo is like having your first kid?  Yeah, I totally experienced that feeling with the bee he tattooed for me.  And for my second tattoo, of the laughing Buddha and some text, he was very enthusiastic about my idea and convinced me to do it in color rather than the black and grey I had wanted.  I am so happy he did.  It's brilliant.I waited almost 10 years after knowing I wanted to get a tattoo to actually go and get my first one.  I was intimidated by the tattoo shop "scene" and worried that I'd feel out of place there.  So I can say that Evolution is a great place to go if you are concerned about feeling comfortable.  The artists talk to each other while working on you, and if you also get Thom to do your tattoo, he has one of those quiet rotary machines that don't aggravate you so much with the buzzing. I wasn't worried about the pain of tattooing so much before I experienced it, since I have a high tolerance, but I was uneasy from not knowing what to expect I'd feel for hours.  So I was jumpy.  The artists here are really good about that and will check in to see how you feel.On top of everything else:  it's super affordable.  When I decide what else I might want on my body permanently, this is the place I'll go!
