The best artists around. Waiting list is longer than most, but you get better work. Price is better than most and you get more done in less time. Amazing artists at Blackstar. I've gotten work done by 2 of the 4 artists that work there. As with any artist they each have styles that they excel in but can each do just about anything. One of the guys Alt, is always booked up. He fills his entire year in a matter of a few days when he opens the next year's schedule book. The other 3, you can get in with in a few weeks to a month. I first heard of black star tattoo when I won a gift certificate at a charity event. I've been itching for a new tattoo so I was very eager to check it out! I called to schedule my appointment, zack was the receptionist and assured me that there was someone who would specializes in traditional style tattoos which is what I was looking for. I was able to promptly schedule my appointment.Upon arrival I was greeted by zack and he had me sit in the lounge where my artist Doug met me. It took almost an hour to draw up my piece, he was really cool and understanding. My tattoo session lasted 3 hours. I asked Doug if we could talk the to pass time and we did, he was really personable and made time fly by. My tattoo came out great I can't believe how much we achieved in a short amount of time. I heard this place was awesome so I made an appointment to get a cover up - waiting list 9 months. Wow, must be great with that wait list! I waited 9 months to find out that the artist, Jerrod, does the design and styles that HE wants and then he suggested that I go somewhere else. Rewinding ---> Zack gave me Jerrod's email months before to send my ideas to him so that I could get feedback and a drawing after he got back from Iceland. I never heard back. The fact is that I was lied to and could have been given a quick note to say it wouldn't work out. I wish I knew how things worked at Black Star and not wasted 9 months waiting for my cover up.
