Me and my friend went it to get tattooed something small. We waited three hours after they told us to come in. My friends tattoo went well. It was her first. Mine on the other hand. He tattooed me too deep. And is not healing correctly. I have 2 tattoos before this one so I was taking care of it correctly. But like I said. He tattooed too deep. Also for what we got was $100 each for 5 minutes each of work. Low stars. Too expensive and now I'll have to wait to see how this heals, basically got get it redone. I had and appointment a while back to have a cover up done with Pete the owner. When I showed for my appointment the shop was closed I never received a phone call or anything about rescheduling and I paid a small deposit. I ended up going to another shop to get my work done which I'm very pleased with they did a fantastic job. I went here on my 40th. Birthday and paid 600.00 for a awful tattoo! Went back a few weeks later to have it fixed and touched up like i was told to do and was told the artist no longer worked there amd know one else there seemed to care to help me. Wanted latte-art tattoo in brown ink (as coffee is brown--not black) Gavin (? Refused--can't make coloured dots. I compromised, as the main idea was *dotted lines* However, this is more like flecked shading! (and badly done at that! where are the value changes?) At least if he would've used brown ink, black dots could've been added for definition and movement but now it's too dark to correct. Also, when i noticed it wasn't turning out, and asked for some clean dotted lines he threw my reference drawing in the corner & barked 'getting there! Gotta build up the values!' the heart shape is deformed, the design is backwards, and it might as well be solid black! So, go here if you want a quick 20 minute thick-black tattoo. If you want something more delicate, done with patience and craftsmanship, go someplace else. Read Less

My bestie and her daughter came in for tattoos for her daughter's birthday while I was up from TX for a quick weekend getaway and I ended up getting a tattoo the next day. Pete went out of his way to take pieces from several pictures and create a custom design that turned out sooo stunning!!! He is a perfectionist and is all about the fine details, but also is a great listener, open to suggestions, and quickly put me at ease with getting such a large piece done in one sitting (not my first tattoo but definitely the biggest). Update 10/4/17: I previously gave 5 stars because I loved how our tattoos turned out. 7 months later we called to tell Pete we'd like touch ups and he says to meet him at 2pm the next day. We showed up from Hillsboro, a 50 minute drive mind you, and there's no Pete. I explained the situation to another tattoo artist and all he said was, "That's something that has to be taken up with you and Pete." so suffice to say, he told us leave our number and didn't offer to call Pete either. We got no call from Pete. I don't know if he blew us off because touch ups are free but that's such crappy service. How do you expect to keep clientele if you blow them off? I was going to have this as my go to place but not if I can't get a freaking touch up on a tattoo that took half an hour to do. --------------—------------- My husband and I did a walk in to get our very first tattoos. Let me start by saying I've worked in a very reputable tattoo shop before and know the ins and outs of how things work and the appropriate prices on certain sized tattoos and specifics. With that being said, I am extremely disappointed with an experience my close friend had here. She came for a simple name tattoo on her collar bone and was over charged and basically molested by the artist. He insisted on her removing her top completely, even with her feeling uncomfortable with it as the shop had several other men in it at the time. She tried to pull her shirt up to cover herself and the artist kept pulling it back down even though he totally could have accessed the tattoo if she was wearing a tube top. After sitting in the open, chest exposed to the shop, he didn't bother to explain any aftercare to her either. I'm just completely furious that she was treated SO disrespectfully by a creep artist. Went and got my third tattoo here. Got there about twenty minutes before my appointment yet my tattoo didn't get started for two hours because the guy was late and just took smoke breaks. He talked to other walk ins as I was still waiting to get my tattoo. He took a phone call in the middle of doing my tattoo and come to see that my tattoo, after healing, looks like shit. Read Less

Very clean and friendly! The only thing is that they disappear during business hours and don't leave a return time. Last time I was by thwre was also no answer to my calls, which lead to me taking my friend to another artist.Otherwise the art is beautiful with solid color and line work. where do i start!! I had a poorly done tattoo from a few years ago that i needed covered, i had heard good things when i checked yelp and they definitely met my expectations. Justin turned a weirdly shaped leaf into a super cool black and white daisy. I had no idea how i wanted it covered at first but Justin took one look at it and knew exactly what to do. I trusted his direction and I'm so glad I did. I am very sensitive and nervous when it comes to tattoos he was stern enough to push me to not give up but gentle enough to help me feel at ease!! couldn't be happier! Read Less

I got a bad tattoo there by Ben. He spent all of 5 minutes on it since he was in a hurry to leave to pick up his car. He overcharged me for a crooked tattoo that looked horrible. I had it covered up at another shop a little over a month later. The cover-up is beautiful and the artist took their time. I would never go back to Mr. Tattoo. After my experience at Mr. Tattoo, I learned that I was not alone in my bad experience there. Read Less

My friend and I have never had a tattoo before and read on Yelp about Mr.Tattoo that it was highly rated. We walked in and didn't realize it was a cash only shop. When we asked where we could get cash the tattoo artist said, uh i don't know there's a place next door. He was not helpful what so ever. He said he was the only person working tonight and he already had someone to tattoo. He was not helpful with any information on when we could get in, how to schedule, or how long a wait it would be. Such poor customer service, I would never spend my money there to receive a tattoo. Being that I've never been tattooed before, I was nervous walking in and did not know what to expect. I also work in the customer service industry and to receive such a lack of accommodation is just a sign of the lack of others needs and wants. My sister and I came here when we decided we wanted tattoos one day on a whim. It was recommended by a friend. We went in, showed him (Jimmy) what we wanted and he drew something better  up in just a few minutes. The shop was super clean and Jimmy made my first tattooing experience awesome! Came in again just a few days ago and it was just as perfect. Jimmy has done a fantastic job on both of my tattoos, my sisters and my best friends. The guys in the shop are really easygoing and just all around nice. I love the cleanliness of the shop. It's bright and open so you don't feel like you're in a dungeon -like smokey biker bar being tattooed by your sister's boyfriend's half brother's cousin amongst a bunch of Sons of Anarchy look-a-likes. (Although I'm not sure any woman in their right mind would turn down the latter)All in all, I had an amazing experience both times, super happy with the work Jimmy did and will definitely be coming back! This is the only tattoo shop I will go to get any work done. I have been to a few tattoo shops in the Portland Metro area and I am happy to have found one I value. I have gone here for years now, and don't have a need to venture out and try my luck in the hopes of getting something I will like. Every piece of artwork I have received from Mr.Tattoo I am in love with. Sometimes I just come in knowing I want some new ink and Pete will just hook me up with something I fall in love with. I tell everyone I come in contact with to go with to go to Mr.Tattoo.       My favorite thing about Mr.Tattoo is that they charge you for the piece not by the hour. I never have to come in hoping my wallet doesn't get raped. Pete is humble as well as the other artists that reside at the shop. I do whole hearted believe that you get what you pay for but some artist's put themselves on a pedestal. I also really enjoy the other artists as well Jimmy, Ellen, and Joel are all really cool and nice to talk to before/during/after the tattoo process.      The environment is very chill, they have a pool table and wifi for you as you wait. And I love the food nearby incase previous appointments run late.      My grandma even came here to get work done for her 63rd birthday.    If your looking to get some work done at least come talk to Pete he's worth checking out and I promise you wont regret it.
