The energy was really nice when I first got there but as soon as it came down to actually getting pierced the service turned sour. Upset I don't remember the name of who pierced me cause I wasn't spoken to by the piercer at all except to be told what to do. I went in to stretch my ears (brand new to the entire process mind you) and was just given a size and it was shoved into my ear, they weren't cleaned or oiled at all. I really liked this place at first and the staff but I'm giving 2 stars because of the pricing and the fact that one of my ears got infected. I only went here because at the time I was going to college in Eugene and I was super anxious to get my thirds done. They claim that they use "only the best jewelry". Honestly, I got 2 cartilage done by someone else after going here and it costed 1/3 of their price and it never got infected and the jewelry seems just as nice. $112 for TWO piercings for the lobe. It was honestly so ridiculous AND one of the ears got infected even though I cleaned it 3-4 times a day just like they instructed me to. I now go to a piercer at home that is very reputable and I honestly regret going here. i loathe having to come here but they have a monopoly on the piercing business in Eugene. rude customer service, exorbitant pricing, and the staff literally made me wait for my appointment because my piercer was "outside enjoying the sunshine". overall everyone who works there has a bad attitude and they also act superior and better-than-you. it cost me nearly $70 to only get ONE of my ears re-pierced and for buying ONE earring (and it was the cheapest one). beyond this, they messed up my piercing and pierced it WAY too high. i have to go and get it fixed, but i will NOT be going back to high priestess, and now i'm out $70 and with out a refund. next time i need a piercing i'm going to go somewhere else unfortunately Read Less

I went with my friend and had my navel and cartilage pierced here. They were super quick, kind, and helpful. It was a new lady that did our piercings and she was very professional and made the experience quick and relatively painless. My navel swelled more than expected so I came back a few days later, as the top ball was sinking and it was painful. They changed out the jewelry for no cost and were super understanding about it. I got three piercings here at once, my rook, forward helix and a mid-cartilage. My rook and my mid have healed up nicely and look amazing! However, my forward wasn't pierced far enough in and even though the earring was thin, you can literally see it through my skin. Jim was super helpful in calming my nerves and making sure I was okay with everything both before and after the piercing. It is a super clean place and I would definitely go back if I lived in the area. I am just super disappointed about my forward piercing and am sad that I have to pay to get it redone in the future. I've had two great experiences with piercers here. Jim did my second ear cartilage piercing and was professional, clean, funny and super patient with me being picky about placement (I've been rushed into crooked earring placements before and insisted on sticking my hoop over the dot he drew to see how it would look with my existing jewelry). The piercing itself was about as quick and painless as a cartilage piercing can be, and has been healing more cleanly than any piercing I've ever had (I have 12)--no irritation or infection whatsoever. I was also pretty impressed with their jewelry selection (I chose a 14k gold hoop, and might get a rose gold one in the future), and went back the next week to see what options they had for swapping out my old tongue ring to something nicer and less clunky. Josh helped me out and was absolutely fantastic. He gave me a ton of advice about post gauges and ball sizing, and even let me try a few until we found the most comfortable sizes--many piercing shops won't let you test jewelry since they then have to put the discards through an extreme sanitizing process, so I really appreciated Josh's patience and commitment to helping me find the right pieces. He ended up sending me home with a different, smaller sized ball on each end of a shorter post and told me to swap them after a few days to figure out what's most comfortable before special ordering the new gold version I want. I've had this tongue ring for 15 years and was considering giving it up completely, but thanks to Josh I've found a solution I'm confident I'll be happy with long term. Read Less

I went in to get a piercing on a whim, and I'm so glad I came here! I was greeted immediately by a beautiful and friendly young woman with blue hair (I forgot your name, I'm so sorry Hun!!!!). Then Zach introduced himself and took me back to the room. Both employees were so easy-going and professional. They both had a warm demeanor about them, which is something I'm not used to since people in this industry tend to be a little more reserved and standoffish in southern California. The piercing was quick and relatively painless. Zach kept the conversation flowing through the whole thing to ease any potential discomfort or nerves. He was very easy to talk to. Yesterday I went into High Priestess to get my first tattoo. I made an appointment with Rest and texted him a raw draft of a drawing of what I wanted the night before. When I arrived (early, I might add,) I was helped quickly, given tips on what to expect and how to make the process as stress-free as possible and contrary to some of these negative reviews, made to feel very welcome in the shop. The staff were patient, knowledgable and positive and the place was so clean, it felt hospital-sterile, from the stations down to the floor tiles. The mood was relaxed and the tunes were perfect.  Rest had everything set up and a polished, refined version of the raw draft I had sent him before I hit the table, which truly set my mind at ease. The whole process took maybe 45 minutes, was surprisingly relaxing, relatively painless and the finished product is a perfect reflection of my vision. Rest was thorough, calming and professional and I would recommend him to anyone. I was given excellent instructions for aftercare, wasn't rushed at all and the energy of the shop provided for a perfect first-tattoo-experience. I'm already thinking of what to get next.5 stars! Extreamly disrespectful. A man with long hair who was working the counter didn't greet or welcome people in. Was pretty slow in the shop, not busy at all. As soon as I got to the counter he told me to not touch my earrings. First thing he said to me when I walked in. He failed to explain why to not touch my earrings. He just flat out told me it was a rule. He was unable to educate me why that was a rule. So I decided to go to the one on 6th street. They were super nice. Very respectful. I got my very first tattoo yesterday with Jay. The service was excellent, and everyone was very friendly. Jay even bought me a bottle of water while we waited for the email of my photo to come through to him, and his work was excellent, careful, AND quick! Friendly and professional looking, that being said this was the most disappointing tattoo experience I have ever had for probably the simplest tatt in my life tattooer was very distant, tat is crooked meaning he followed his 1st stencil, not the 2nd placement lines are not crisp add to that he was super heavy with the needle argued with my wife over her 1st touch up on a design he did a few months ago. With all the other shops in Eugene, I would think artist would refuse to put permanent subpar work out there but sadly there are artists and there are ppl that have a job giving tats, my tattooer seemed more of the latter. Let me start off by saying that I never write Yelp reviews - but I cannot stop thinking about the amazing experience I just had. I walked into High Priestess knowing that I wanted a double forward helix with studs in my left ear. The "shop mom" is super sweet and took her time showing and describing my jewelry options to me.  I'm not usually one for small talk, but she and I briefly exchanged piercing stories and bonded for a bit.  Eventually I decided on a small, solid yellow gold disc and another solid gold stud with a clear gem. When I initially heard the price of the jewelry, I winced (Solid gold disk was $90, the gold post with gem $60); however, Rhea (shop mom) explained to me that they only sell jewelry that meets the industry's highest standards, and the pieces are designed and made to stay in my body forever (if I so choose to do that).  Realizing that I would probably never want to change it, I decided that $150 for high quality jewelry that would stick with me for a lifetime was one hell of a deal. After completing my paperwork, Jim took me back to his piercing station and was immediately an extremely pleasant person with an equally calming presence. I laid back on a black cushioned chair while we chatted about our dogs and the upcoming heat wave. The piercings hurt just as much as any piercing should, but no more and only for a quick split second. It was a very comfortable experience that was over in less than a few minutes.  Jim thoroughly explained exactly how to clean the piercings, which are in a rather tricky location on the ear, so I was grateful for the detailed tips. He shook my hand, and I grazed towards the front desk to pay. The piercing fee of $30 covered both piercings, and I opted to use the $5 coupon that you get when checking into the business on Yelp (net $25). In addition to the aforementioned jewelry, the total amount paid (before tip) was $175. They provided high quality salt (to make cleaning solution) and a detailed aftercare info packet. Refills of salt are free if I need it in the future, and they told me to stop in in 3-4 weeks for a checkup to make sure they're healing okay. I know that many reviews complain of this place being way too expensive, but let me say - I have been to many tattoo/piercing shops in my life, and I truly do believe that you get what you pay for. I have always given high priestess all my business, however I am re thinking that one. They really made me angry this time. My daughter who just turned 18 and has been there before to get her nose pierced when she was 17. The nose piercing fell out so she wanted to have it re-done. We walked in, waited our turn, then the young girl working behind the counter asked how she could help us. My daughter said I'd like to get my nose re pierced. She asked my daughter how old sh...e was. My daughter said I'm 18. She asked for my daughter's ID which she does not have one. I said but I'm her mom I'll OK her to get it done. That's when the girl replied, uhmm since she is 18 she is considered an adult and has to have an ID. I said but I'm her mom and I came with her last time and ok'd it to get it done the first time. She said, sorry we can't do it without her ID. She's an adult and can give her own approval. OK so I'm not into rocket science but does this make sense to anyone else? I can ok my Young child to get a piercing under 18 but when they question whether she is even 18 at all I can't give my approval and my ID. There's only 2 options. She's either 18+ or she's still a minor. No other options than that last time I checked. Plus they should still have her on record since she went there the first time she had it done. As far as the tattoo world goes, I am definitely a newbie so the environment here was so open and friendly and honestly perfect for getting my second tattoo. I was able to get a consultation and an appointment all within one week. The ladies working the reception area were AWESOME! They were so sweet and on a super busy Saturday they handled the pressure so well and with a big smile. My tattoo was done by Rest and I was so happy with my experience. He is a very nice guy and gave me the professional advice I was looking for. I got a tattoo of lyrics on my rib cage which I was fairly nervous for because it is definitely a sensitive spot. I can't explain how welcome I felt! I went here yesterday around 9:30 pm ( they close at 10 pm ). Everyone I had talked to about getting a piercing told me to go here and I am happy I did!The lady at the front desk was very nice and super friendly! The shop was VERY clean which is a big factor for me. Even though they had been busy all day it was spotless.Seejay did my piercing and I felt so comfortable around him I would recommend going if this is your first piercing or even your 100th! He was very thorough and knows what he is doing, you can tell he has been doing this awhile. He made me laugh and did my piercing very quick! On Tuesday (12/20/16) night, 3 California Girls and 1 from Eugene were heading directly to this joint after being given high praises from Ritual Art in Portland. After braving the 2 hour drive we arrive and we're most unwelcome! The girl behind the counter was super annoyed anyone walked in an hour before closing. All of there staff at both Eugene locations are knowledgeable about the piercing and after care and are open and honest about what to expect during the healing. I came here back in May during their $10 piercing sale (price of jewelry not included) to get my tragus pierced. Having only had lobe piercings done before with a piercing gun, I was really nervous about getting a piercing done with a needle. Jim was very lighthearted and easygoing about the whole process. I was afraid that the needle was going to hurt a ton, especially since prior to coming here I did a lot of online research on tragus piercings and read that they can be extremely painful and prone to infection. But here my experience went well! Jim got the needle and the earring itself into my ear in a very short amount of time; it couldn't have been more than a few minutes, tops. I felt a sharp poke, but overall I think the healing process hurt more than the actual piercing process. At the end, the woman at the cash register gave me a bag of sea salt to soak my new piercing in. I used a Japanese rice bowl to put the warm salt water in, because it's the perfect size to fit up to my ear. My piercing was sore for about a week, but after that it got better. Four months later, my piercing looks healthy and I haven't had any signs of infection! I don't plan on removing the earring any time soon, but know that if I want to eventually switch the jewelry out for something different, I can come back here and they'll do it for me.FYI: If you come during their sale, be prepared to wait for at least an hour, or more. However, given the fact that the money made during this promotional sale goes towards sending their employees to APP conventions (Association of Professional Piercers), I trust this place more than I would any other place in town. I also love the fact that around Thanksgiving time, they usually do a $10 piercing sale to benefit homeless animals, such as the Northwest Dog Project in Eugene. I love this place and have gotten all three of my tattoos from artists here. First in 2015 I got an oxytocin molecule on my right arm by Anthony. That's my favorite one and I think the best work. The lines are extremely clean and precise, fading hasn't really happened (and it's been over a year) and I just think it turned out really really well. I'd recommend his work for anyone looking for fine line detailed black ink tattoos.My second tattoo was in 2015 with Reed. It's an owl in a tree on my left shoulder. I really love the design and Reed worked with me on altering the size to fit my idea of placement. He was very personable and friendly and did a really good job! This one has faded the most and I should probably get it touched up, but I don't think that's the artist's fault - more my placement choice.My third tattoo was in 2016 with Anthony again. It's the tree of life on my right shoulder. It's again really good quality work and probably my most complimented piece. Unfortunately it didn't heal very well in one spot and there was some raised scar tissue near the bottom of my tattoo for several months that is just now beginning to fade. I don't think this was the artist's fault and I don't know why it didn't heal perfectly as I took care of it the same as my other tattoos. It is not very noticeable and has only created minor fading in one small area of the design.Overall my experiences at High Priestess have been really good and I love the work that has been done for me. It's really scary and nerve-wracking getting a tattoo but the artists and staff have always been very professional. If I wasn't moving away I would definitely get more tattoos from High Priestess. I first went to the one in downtown Eugene but they only had consultations but luckily someone at the campus one was available for a walk in. When I got to the shop it seemed like any other tattoo place but just a little to hot for comfort. The service was quick and easy and very comfortable with privacy while getting the tattoo. I've been meaning to write a review for the High Priestess on 13th for a while now, but today I definitely knew I had to go home and do it. Now for any sort of body modifications or permanent body art obviously your first priorities are that the people know what they're doing and are professional (If those aren't your priorities then they should be). HP is just that. I've had a piercing done there, I've had jewelry switched out, I've been there to make sure things that are healing aren't going to fall off, and I've been there just to gawk at the beautiful jewelry. My boyfriend also had his tattoo done there. No matter what the instance, the people at HP go above and beyond just being professional and knowledgable. They are also so compassionate and friendly and understanding. They are everything you want someone who's a part of something as intimate as body modification or art to be. Just genuinely some of the greatest people I've ever met. There are so many experiences I could share with you about how awesome this place is, but you should really go in and check it out for yourself. Got the back of my arms inked before summer by the lovely and talented Rest. I wanted two large traditional style roses done and he took the time to sketch and sketch until they looked perfect. His laid back attitude and excellent music choice made my first tattoo experience quick and pleasant. He even allowed my boyfriend to come in during the 2 hour session... By the end I swear they were best friends. Both roses healed beautifully for being so large and still look rich and colorful.
