I had my ears pierced at Claire's when I was little but let them close up a couple weeks after and was too scared to do them again. Now I'm 21 and just got them done today and I had the most wonderful experience. I was so nervous because I had a bad experience the first time but everyone here made me feel so comfortable and calm. I just finished having Mike bring back some of my older faded tattoos's back to life.  He did not disappoint.  I lack the artistic skills and vision to draw a circle so it was really refreshing to work with an artist who was able to develop a plan just from having a conversation with me.  I also appreciated this business because whenever I was there the staff were always welcoming and happy to assist.  Being a 38 year old married father of two I was also super thankful to be somewhere that started their appointments on time if not early.  In the past when I have been at tattoo shops everything started late even if you had an appointment and I will never understand the randoms that seem to loiter there (weird AF).    Tattoo's are cash only (please tip your artist) but piercings can be charged.  I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a tattoo and/or piercing. Well I'm super disappointed in myself for not having Matthew do my piercing in the first place ‍ but I will absolutely be back to do any more with Matthew! Burr, the master of the house, is the reason I even came back today after being there yesterday, and hearing that there was an hour wait. Oh well heck, let me back track a bit. I walked up yesterday and when I opened the door, I almost whacked another woman in line. Because there were SO many people waiting!!! I thought surely I can just ask the wait time. But Burr was SO busy. Between phones, taking deposits, answering questions (albeit some very silly ones from someone there to book a tattoo appointment, and I would have sent the girl elsewhere but Burr was PATIENT as all get out and NEVER snapped at anyone.) Clearly they put the right person up to deal with clients because she is SUPER sweet and SUPER friendly. I waited about 15 minutes and when I heard the wait time I had to leave. But I said "I'll be back!" I'm sure she hears that all the time, but I was thinking damn she is SO nice and this place is SUPER clean and just really nice inside. Yup. Definitely getting my business. Today, I arrived AT noon. Y'all I was ON TIME to get right in. NOPE. I had 7 people in front of me still. I suppose most people would or could get annoyed but the fact the line was SO long for piercing, should tell you you're in the right place. Burr gave me the form to fill out and gave me the cost, $10 to put "outside" jewelry in. I was like yes. Quality work for that price, no problem. I waited about 40 minutes, and went back with Matthew. I immediately felt at ease and changing my ring out was SO fast and SO pain free. When I had it changed initially, the girl who did it pinched me and didn't really seem to have any F's to give as to how I felt. Matthew was like a ninja. Fast and pain free. We even did it twice since I had a smaller ring for my nose and put that one in instead. When I saw the list for the piercing prices online I was SUPER PISSED I hadn't gone there. The shop is so friendly, comfortable, plays good music and has a gorgeous selection of jewelry for LESS than I paid at the other place. Bah. Guess I should have been a better Yelper and checked out Black Hole before I went to a literal hell hole to get my second nose piercing. You live and learn. But hey y'all. I went here after a recommendation from a friend for a nostril piercing.The front desk girl (I can't remember her name) was super friendly, knowledgeable,and welcoming. This shop gave me the most gentle and clean piercing I've ever received. I have 3 different piercings in one ear and I have 4 in the other. What an amazing experience, I had my septum pierced by Matteo today and it was such a smooth and painless experience. I've had quite a few piercings and usually they hurt or there's some discomfort, but Matteo was so funny and knowledgeable. He put my nerves at ease, was thorough about the information I needed to know and was incredibly sanitary. My septum piercing did not hurt, he checked in with me before doing it and then it was this thing, I didn't notice my nose had been pierced until after I felt the ring in it. Brilliant experience, I will be going back for all of my piercings. Highly recommend it. Let me just start by saying that I absolutely LOVE Black Hole. I have been pierced here several times and up until now have not had a bad experience. I went in on Saturday, 7/21/18, to have a shorter stud installed in my tragus piercing (because it was uncomfortable to wear my stethoscope at work) and I was appalled at how rude the piercer was to me.I know part of your job is to educate clients and ensure they properly care for their piercings, and I truly do appreciate the information, but you did not need to lecture me. You did not need to raise your voice. And you had no right making assumptions about me. Yes, I wear a stethoscope at work... No, I'm not a nurse... No, I didn't learn about how to clean healing wounds in school. I'm a vet tech with a 2 year degree... Which you'd have known if you'd given me a chance to tell you before you went off on me. In my line of work I only ever deal with fresh, usually dirty wounds. I'd seen co-workers use dilute chlorhexidine to clean their piercings before so I thought it was ok. This is the best place I have ever been to regarding piercings and tattoos! The staff is so kind and are always happy to talk to you about anything. Most places I've been to where my friends got tattoos or I got a piercing, they are rude and make you feel like you don't fit in with them. At Black Hole that's not the case at all! They welcome you in and they make you feel comfortable and happy to be there. Recently I got my nose pierced in NYC and the ring came out! So I called Black Hole and they were so kind and helpful and they helped me get a better piece of jewelry in and made sure it was long enough so it would fit through the swelling. I went to another business to get my ears pierced and ended up leaving after waiting an hour and a half when they said it was going to be an hour and then told it was going to be at least another hour because there were two people ahead of me. Why didn't they tell me this in the first place? Jerks. Plus, they gave me a pamphlet about after care that was so condescending, I was already turned off. We left and I called Black Hole the next day and the receptionist, Ash, was a pure delight. I had questions, which she took her time to answer and she was so super helpful and friendly, that it put my mind at ease knowing that I may have found the right business. I showed up and to convince Darcey, the piercing specialist to give me five piercings at once, but there was no convincing her. Man, she's a tough lady! I can be pretty persuasive. She did agree to do three, so I got two in my lobe and one in my cartilage. She was amazing! She was super cool! She hurt me! But only because, yeah it's a piercing, but her coolness made it all okay and she thought I was brave, so there's that. Ash really took her time to help me pick out my jewelry, which was super important to me and we nailed it. I will be happy to wear my white gold earrings until I can change them out. And, I will continue to use the pieces as part of my everyday jewelry.FYI, I am a 55 year old woman and I am not too keen on needles or pain, so getting piercings isn't high on my things-I-enjoy-to-do list, so you can take my word that this was a good experience and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.Thank you, Darcey and Ash! I went here last year to get my dermal piercing changed and the piercer just went up and tried to remove the jewelry with her hands!! She obviously didn't get it off and when I went somewhere else they used a tool and it went great. I went in to get a second and third ear piercing above my left lobe and it's been nearly 5 months and they're still not healed.  They've both formed a scab that won't go away.  I called and explained my situation after 3 months as I was concerned it was infected and they mentioned I should come in. I've gone in now THREE times for them to take a look and each time they've said it's not infected but haven't given me any recommendations to what it may be.  I've been cleaning it regularly, but still hasn't improved.  The only thing they mentioned I should do is buy a different pair of earrings, which I did for $17 a piece, but still nothing.I couldn't be more disappointed in the service.  DEFINITELY don't recommend for piercing. WOW! This has to be one of the friendliest piercing/tattoo placed I've EVER been too. I went to a lesser quality piercer and i think i was allergic to the metal the use in their cheap studs. They replaced my piercing with no charge (just the cost of jewelry) they also gave me cleaning instructions and offered a lot of tips. I will def go back there for any further piercings or tattoos. Went in today because my Tragus piercing had fallen out and needed to be replaced. I called to make sure they would be able to do it (It was relatively late into the evening) and they were beyond friendly and helpful on the phone. I came in and was immediately greeted by two women, asked what I needed, given multiple options. I ended up leaving with new tragus and double nostril jewelry. I was quoted one price by phone, the same price in person. But, I looked at their online price sheet, and I was charged 80.00 over what it should have been. I'm calling tomorrow to get this fixed. My end price was 195.00 with a 5.00 tip for my nipples to be pierced. 200.00 total... I'm all for quality, but the website says it is way cheaper. With the cost of jewelry, it should have been 125.00 with the 5.00 tip making it 130.00. Maybe there was a new person that didn't know the prices??? Read Less

I've been here before to get my nose pierced a few years ago, then of course original location in Reno Nevada...but I just came back yesterday to get my nipple pierced... and THEY ALL MADE IT A GREAT EXPERIENCE.  I will be going back here soon to get the other nipple pierced. They were interested in why I was there (12yr marriage coming to an end and being able to finally do what I have always wanted) and they expressed true appreciation to be a part of it. I went in June to go get a double helix piercing on my left ear, I have been so happy with it. They were so nice and I felt comfortable because even though I didn't have experience they helped me choose what jewelry to wear and were very patient while I did. A bit pricey from what I've heard some friends pay ($100+) but I don't mind because the place is very clean, professional and they have a great selection of jewelry that is beautiful and unique for starters and of quality. I've had friends whose piercings get infected when they go to other cheaper places but mine have not and I truly believe it's because of their advice and knowledge with what is the proper jewelry to start with and how and when to clean. I got a moonstone and pink crystal earring to start with. It takes awhile to heal (especially if you accidentally yank on it while fixing your hair, like me). I am probably not the typical customer for this shop--a 26-year-old woman getting just her earlobes pierced. I had tried to pierce them many times as a kid and teen at Claire's and Piercing Pagoda and had constant infections, issues, and pain, so I gave up. But I'm getting married later this year and figured I would try one last time.I went to the store on a busy Sunday and felt pretty out of place off the bat with all the people getting their 10th piercing, getting tattoos, etc. But the staff was extremely welcoming and kind and thoroughly explained the process, the high-quality materials they used, and how their process worked. Rachael was my piercer and she was kind and extremely professional. She was so patient with me being a baby and having my fiancé hold my hand while I got my ears pierced. She used a needle, showed me where the holes would be and got my approval, and the whole thing was done in about 5 minutes. I waited to write this review because I had very low hopes that it would stick, but I am 7 weeks out and I have no pain, no signs of infection, nothing. Other than once when I nicked the earring in my sleep and had a bit of dried blood in the morning, I have had NO pus, blood, or even much pain, even at first. They are pretty much completely healed now and I am beyond grateful and so excited that I get to wear real earrings on my wedding day. I can't believe I could have had pierced ears this whole time!! I attempted to get a piercing a week ago and came right at Noon which is their opening time but after waiting outside for 20 minutes I left because they still had not opened. It was super bummed because I was so excited but finally on Sunday afternoon my friend and I came back and were able to get cartilage piercings. I got my nostril pierced here in 2011. It was an easy and mostly pleasant experience but it never felt like it completely healed. For that reason I never changed the jewelry on my own. I just left the corkscrew jewelry in even though it showed most of the time and looked like a silver booger.Fast forward to a week ago- I went to a shop in Salem to get a small hoop to replace my stud. The piercer took out the jewelry and it hurt...my six year old nose piercing hurt. Then he started putting in the hoop. The hoop didn't fit however and my eyes were tearing up at the pain. He had me lay down so he could get a better look. Turns out my nose was pierced at an angle (incorrectly) by Black Hole. The new piercer repierced my nose and gave me new jewelry all for free because of my trouble.Other than the piercing woes I got a small tattoo here in 2011 as well. My 4.5 year old has been begging to get her ears pierced since she was 3. We decided it was time. Even though their shop policy is usually a minimum of 5 years old, they told me to bring her in and see how she reacted to the environment. Definitely understandable since they can't be flailing around. Thankfully Matteo was there to pierce her ears. He was outstanding with my daughter. She's been going around telling people about the "funny guy" that pierced her ears. He cracked jokes with her and made her feel completely at ease. He was even a nanny at one point in his life. Everything was very clean and sterile and we have had no issues with the piercing. Of course, she cried a little but she was so brave and it definitely helped having a great piercer. I've been here several different times and can't recommend them enough. Went in today to have another set of holes put in my lobes and I'm so so happy with how it turned out. Matteo is amazing, super informed and really really nice. I get vertigo easily and he was so kind and patient with me when I got a dizzy spell after my piercings. Please don't go here just because you want a quick and easy walk in tattoo. Don't, just don't do it. My friend and I came here wanting to get impulsive tattoos that day, and the design I wanted is not what I got. Various details and sections were left off of it. I got left with an extremely uneven design that just looks off. The colors are already messed up and discolored and the lines appear smudged and I JUST GOT IT LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. I'm already looking for a cover up or some way to make it look better and sharper.  I've never had a worse tattoo experience. The guy tattooing us acted like we were annoying because we were the only customers there. I was planning on going and getting a free touch up soon but I don't want to add anymore of the low quality ink they use because it will just turn blurry in a month. My other tattoos I've had for a long time and they still look sharp and beautiful. Please just wait the extra week or pay the extra money to get a GOOD QUALITY tattoo. Read Less

Between my husband and myself we have gotten 3 tattoos here the past couple of months between Jazmyne and Brienne. Each experience has been great. The shop is very clean. The artists and staff are all very friendly and personable. They gave advice on what they felt would enhance the tattoo but were more than open to keep adjusting the design until it was exactly what was wanted. I pre-ordered a freckle jewelry piece back in April to put in my second nostril piercing because my job wouldn't allow me to have facial piercings, they told me that it should arrive about 4-6weeks. I went in two months later to see if it was in, it wasn't. A couple of weeks later I called to see if it would be in, it wasn't. The receptionist that I was talking to close to 4 months later told me that if I needed them, because he didn't know when the shipment would come in, th...at I should purchase them at Adorn down the road. Which I did. I really loved Black Hole so I came back to have two freckles installed, that I purchased at Adorn, at Black Hole. I still wanted the other freckle jewelry so I decided to wait but still never received a call whenever it was in and when I got the other freckles installed the shipment still never came in. Finally, last month I came in to see if I could have the transaction credited to me, since I didn't really want that freckle piece any more but I wanted to purchase some more expensive jewelry pieces and explaining my entire story, as well as not finding my pre-order form in the process, the receptionist told me she would look into it and to bring back the receipt on Tuesdays on which she worked. My job gets crazy over the holiday season so I wasn't able to come in for a while. Upon me returning, with my receipt and the same receptionist told me that I couldn't have my money credited to me because I had the installation of a second freckle and even though she stated that she found my pre-order form, not stating that I had picked up the jewelry but Black Hole just assumed that I got the jewelry because of the second installation. Not to mention that it is just a "$13 transaction". The fact that you can't trust even your own records or keep them updated is ridiculous. Matteo was absolutely excellent! Minutes ago I got my Tragus pierced and he was awesome. He was very personable and funny, he definitely made it a great experience. He made sure I was ready and there were no surprises. The gal at the front fest (unfortunately I didn't get her name) was also great. She helped me pick out some jewelry and was really personable. I came in to black hole for my medusa (philtrum) and glad I did! Mateo (i think that was his name) was who pierced me. First off, I was impressed at how much general knowledge he had!! He talked about things ok to eat, drink, ways to prevent scarring, things that would make you scar. Literally he had a list of foods (a long list) he clearly memorized of things People eat that create scarring, the dude really knows his stuff and takes pride in his craft. I really like that. I took my 14 yr old daughter in to get a cartilage piercing.  She had one done previously with a piercing gun, worst decision.  And also had allowed a friend to do a 3rd piercing in each lobe.  Matteo was really great and spoke to her directly.  No more allowing friends to do it.  No more cheap earrings.  No more swapping out before it is healed.  Do it right or you will risk consequences of infection.  I was thrilled with the way he spoke to her and occasionally checked with me.  She got a nice simple piece of jewelry and we will be back when it is healed enough to get a hoop.  Also appreciated how clean things were with a surgical type tray and he walked her through step by step what the procedure was and the at home follow up care.  Also they said if anything doesn't seem right, call or come in.  Don't go to other sources, come to us.  We will take care of you.  After we left, my daughter said to me...I learned more from Matteo in 20 minutes that I learned in science class in two months.  haha  Classic.  It is amazing what you can get through to a 14 year old when you speak her language.  Job well done.  We will be back and will recommend to our friends. Came in here on 8/5/15 to get my cartilage piercing changed. I had brought in my own earrings since I cant have certain metals. The dude took one look at me and asked me to show him the earrings i wanted. I showed him and took one out of the packaging. He then made me stick it in a small cup and he put cleaning solution on it. He then proceeded to ask me how long i had my cartilage pierced and i said a couple months. He gave me a weird look and said I couldn't change it yet. I asked why and he said I couldn't change it after a month or two. I cut him off and said its been more then that long. Wasn't a big tattoo but the details she put into my tattoo was perfect. Came out better then what I expected. She was very cool and accepted our weird sense of humor and my constant singing. I was very nervous  coming in to get my cartilage pierced but the staff was very friendly and Jay who pierced my ear was wonderful. He answered all my questions and made it a fun experience.  The piercing only pinched a little bit but after that it was pain free! The pain was about a 5 out of 10. Overall I love my new piercing! Overall, this shop was very clean and the service was perfect. The staff is well-trained and they have a gorgeous selection of jewelry for fair prices. I got my nostril pierced here and I was very impressed. They were professional and quick. I walked in without an appointment and left with a new piercing in only about 20 minutes. I've had many piercings at other shops and have had my nose pierced a few times before. This was the least painful experience and so far, my piercing is healing beautifully. First off, I'm an old guy who's had only 1 tattoo in my life. And that was to cover a scar on my leg.I chose Black Hole after speaking with Mark.I had recently lost my beloved dog and wanted a tattoo of him with his ashes in the tattoo.Mark was remarkable!This was one of a very few handful who would consider the ash thing.He worked from a photo and captured my dog perfectly!And added my dogs ashes in the eyes.Since then, I've had a tattoo done of my second dog, who also passed.Again, an excellent job!Highly recommend Black Hole and Mark for tattooing. As a full time student with a full time job, I really don't have much time to waste. I made an appointment at this establishment because of how many positive reviews they received, but apparently I caught them on a bad day. The lady that helped me gave me the wrong email address to my artist, so he never received my design ideas and had nothing drawn up when I arrived, though it was not his fault. The same lady also forgot to mark my appointment down - after I paid my deposit - and double booked the time slot. So, I waited for an hour in the lobby while my artist tried to have something drawn up and take care of 2 clients, but ultimatly was pushed out of my slot and got no tattoo that day. They were honest and when I went for my belly button they said it might be rejected because of the type of belly button I had. Its been 2 years and its still in and doing good! I trust this place for my piercings. Though I don't really care for the girls that work there because they are rude to me. But David, who have done most of my piercings, is so nice. He makes you feel comfortable when you're nervous and is very helpful. Now for those who gave a bad review for this place, I'm sure it's true because not everyone can have a good experience like everyone else. But for the girl who whined about not being able to get her nose pierce because of her different last name with her mom is ridiculous! in december i got my lip peirced. i went here, to the beaverton black hole, it came highly recomended. the man that did it did a very good job, healed quickly with almost no pain. so in march i decided to get ta snakebite done. i went to the same place to get it done. this time it was a lady who was a little heavyset with long dark hair and I had never seen her before, and i went there quite a bit for jewlery. I figured I probably shoudnt worry, i dont go in there 24/7. So i pay and everything seems to be going fine when my friend realized she put on latex gloves when i said im allergic to latex and she almost touched me with them. i started to get a little concerned. so she sticks the needle through my lip and i noticed it hurt a little bit more than i remember it. then something happend that for some reson i cant say it on here but there was something wrong. i told her thats she should check and she told me that it was normal, so i insisted. she sighed heavily like i was some inconvinence and took a closer look at my lip. she told me to hold on and she went to go get someone else. in walks the dude who peirced my lip last time and he was very nice and professional, he told me that she had burst an artery in my lip. great. he said he was sorry on her behalf and that i it didnt clear up in a week or so. so about 2 hours after i had a huge dark red bruise one inch in every dircetion from my piercing. attractive, right? and the guy was right, it went away in about a week. later my friend went there and got her nose peirced by the same lady and she cut a nerve and she couldnt feel her nose for over a month. it turns out that the lady was an aprentice and they never warned us before hand or asked if we would like to wait or schedule for another time with someone else. I have been to many tatto places and the Robin at black hole was the most friendly and helpful person, she has done 2 of my tattoos now and I have taken my mom to see her as well. Just excellent work, in a clean environment. I have had all my piercing there as well, by Robin's husband, he is an awesome piercer, everytime I come in he check my piercing and they are always really friendly and helpful... if your looking for that first tattoo or even to add to a collection GO HERE!!!! same for piercings!!! always get the best and this is IT! I went to get something added to my exsisting tattoo and Robin (the tatoo artist) was awesome!!! She was very friendly and detail oriented making my tattoo look more amazing than I had expected. She was down to earth, realisticly priced and very personable. The art-work she drew looked great and she was able to understand what I wanted and made it look even better than I thought it would. I FINALLY got my nose pierced after years of wondering should I or shouldn't I. David gave me thorough account of what to expect, talked me through the procedure, and then handled it easier and gentler than any medical professional on their best day! Having sensitive skin, I have had a problem healing. But I went back and he checked it out, gave me advice on being patient through the healing process (DON'T PICK AT IT!!!) and in less than two months, it looks like I've had it forever. I'm 17 and I went to black hole today with my mom to get my nose pierced again. I already had it pierced there earlier this summer, and I liked the place, but the hole closed. The woman was really rude and wouldn't pierce my nose because my mom and I have different last names. The first time I got pierced my mom just signed a statement saying we have different last names. So basically, you should go to Straight To The Point instead of Black Hole. The people are more helpful and they don't demand a birth certificate. Read Less

Hi Everyone - I was referred to Black Hole Body Piercing and boy, I'm glad I was! I got my first ""body piercing"" (in my nostril by the way - smile) today. I had been pondering doing this for months. I am a bit of a ""sterile""/clean freak and was immediately put to ease as I walked up the stairs to the front door. The curb appeal of the building was good - very clean. The inside is even better - very ""fresh"" and calming. The ""front gal"" was very friendly and incredibly helpful.
