I came to Arcola Creek for my first tattoo. It was a really big deal for me and I feel I could not have made a better choice. It was clean, professional and actually relaxing. My whole experience exceeded my expectations. Skye helped me rework my design (numerous times) and was very patient with me. I felt in control of the whole process. She has a wonderful talent and I have recommended her to friends. My tattoo turned out beautifully, especially the healing part, which I attribute to the careful attention Skye gave me while actually inking the tattoo. Not only are both Skye and Ryan sweet and down-to-earth people, they give only positive vibes while doing tattoos. I had requested a lotus flower semicolon tattoo to Ryan and I had gotten nothing but the best and almost had me in tears by the time my piece was finished, as it meant so much to me. Skye's aesthetic is such that she frames each piece so that it is a stand on its own work of art. I've never seen pieces that looked so complete and autonomous before and yet could still be incorporated into full sleeves later on. Ryan was gracious enough to come in on Wednesday ( a day the shop is normally closed) to give my daughter and i matching tattoo's. She was home from college on break and our schedule was tight. So his coming in was a huge help. We were both very happy with our design and tattoos as Ryan drew up what we asked for and he nailed it first shot ! First I would like to say I was very excited to support this local shop in my town.  I had made the decision to get a tattoo in remembrance of my mother and decided to go to Great Lakes.  My husband and I went in on a Sunday and spoke with the owner who was very nice.  He told me about how much my tattoo would cost based on what I described to him.  He told me that I could make an appointment, but would need to put down $50 to hold the appointment and that would go towards my tattoo.  Great!!My husband went back to the shop on Monday to show the design that I was looking to do and make the appointment for me.  He spoke with the owners wife which he said wasn't nearly as nice and the owner.  In the mean time I was having a hard time deciding what exactly I wanted.  I wanted to make sure it was perfect since it was for my mother. The owners wife had said for me to come in to pick out colors that I would like to use, so I did.  I stopped up that evening.  I wanted to throw around some ideas that I had and get some suggestions.  Well I really didn't get any help at all.  She offered no suggestions at all and neither did the owner who we spoke with the day before.A few days have gone by and I still couldn't decided what I really wanted so I decided that I would cancel my appointment until I could figure out what I wanted.  I called and spoke with the owner and told him that I  had changed my mind and I wanted to know if I could come in to pick up my deposit......I got a very rude "NO"  I had explained that I was never told that it was a non-refundable deposit.  I would have completely understood if that was the case.  I asked why he was getting upset and he said "where have you ever been that you put a deposit down and when you change your mind you get it back"  I totally understand that, but I was never told that it was a non refundable deposit.  I got the response of "whatever, just come pick up your money we are open till 7"WELL......when my husband when to pick up the money, he was told by the owner that they are a local company wanting to serve local people and they don't do business like that and we were not welcome to come back.  If you are a small business in a small town you should be careful how you treat people.  Don't worry we won't be back to support your small business and I will make sure to tell people how you "do" business.
