Before coming into this establishment I called and requested for an appointment. They stated they didn’t take appointments, just per-Walkins. After checking in and sitting there 45-50 minutes I was finally asked to come up and elaborate on what I was wanting to get, after seeing 4 other people being pulled into other rooms and getting what they had come after me to get finished before even seeing what I wanted. I have gotten several tattoos done here and have been more than satisfied when I leave. Ryan has done all of the work I have gotten done at Defiance and I have been a loyal customer of his work for almost 7 years. He has done 7 tattoos for me, the last one less than a week ago and I’m more than pleased with them. He is very friendly and super nice to talk to which makes for a better experience while being tattooed. I did not have a very good experience with the artist Mike. I went in for matching tattoos with my cousin but we each went to a different artist. We both got lettering done and hers looks beautiful and smooth, exactly like the drawing we were shown, while mine looks rushed and sloppy. I would not recommend Mike as he rushed through the whole process. A couple of the words have no spacing in between, the cursive lines are shaky and uneven, and there are lines that should not be there. It looks like he didn't even follow the stencil he placed. On top of that, this was my first tattoo and while telling me the care instructions he spoke extremely fast and to himself, didn't make sure I could hear or understand anything he was saying. I was with my 16 year-old when she got her ear cartilage pierced, after I'd stopped in prior to take a look around.  Everyone who worked there was so friendly and professional that I felt quite comfortable bringing her in.  Rob, who pierced her, was kind and patient and very professional.  The vibe was cool (as in jazz is cool) and experienced.  Would choose the same place if I had to do it over. Friend and I went in to get simple tattoo, they were pqretty rude almost as if they were annoyed of what we were getting , after tattoo was done it got irritated right away , I have over 15 tattoos in various places not once have I ever had an issue with a healing process I've treated this tattoo like I have every other one, they rushed & didn't shave the area before tattooing & now it's red and has some green to the scabbing along with some redness , Sad that I didn't have a better experience considering I was on vacation, my friends tattoo is reacting the same exact way. What a shame, also they complained non stop about the next tattoo they had to do and wanted to charge the next people more just because they didnt like that they had to do the tattoos. Read Less

I have gotten 1 tattoo and 2 piercings from Defiance. My tattoo itself healed fine, but the artist was not the most personable and neither was the rest of the staff. I have had around 20 piercing in my life between my ears, nose, and lip. All of them I have gotten at a studio before I moved to the area healed great and I never had a problem with them. Both the piercings I have gotten here have been a pain to heal and kept on getting irritated/infected months after getting the piercing. I take care of them just like all my other piercings I have received. If I plan on getting another tattoo or piercing in Kent, I will more than likely find a different place to go. Read Less

I had gotten several tattoos at this place because they boast cheap tattoos. Terrible service as well as bossy. They are clean is the only thing I can say. Do not fall into the cheap tattoo scheme they turn out terrible in the end. They are very rude here and not kind to their customers. Most of the time will say no to what you actually want. I wanted to get a tattoo that was a cover up incorporated into another tattoo. I went to other shops but didn't feel comfortable with what they had in mind. I walked in and talked to Ryan about what I wanted, and his vision was exactly what I had in mind. I did have to schedule almost a month out, but it was well worth the wait. He free handed a sketch around the one I had using a photo of what I wanted. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or outcome. Ryan was very personable and professional. Went in with a friend to get a tattoo. About 2 o'clock on a Wednesday, the lady off the bat said they can't do a walk in tattoo unless it was around a 2-3 in square. I explained what we were looking for she said she could do my friends for sure but couldn't do mine. So she did my friends in less than an hour. Nice work, but very simple tattoo. She wanted to reschedule for 2 weeks to get mine done. They were open til midnight and didn't see any name on the appt book. Really what kind of shop doesn't want to make money?!? My friend and I went in to get small heart tattoos and right away they were very rude. Steve was the artist and he acted as if we were children. The guy who did the estimate on our tattoo was very nice and told us $40 each and then when Steve cashed us out he asked how much and when we said $40 he rolled his eyes and said it should have been $50. If I go back I am definitely requesting that Steve not be my artist. Read Less

The staff are very friendly and helpful. You can walk in and ask them anything. They even checked to make sure the new jewelry I put in a piercing I got there months ago was screwed in well enough because I had trouble seeing it myself and decided to drop by. Hygiene is good--single packed sterile disposable needles, autoclaved jewelry, nice looking back room. I was given a waiver form with thorough questions and pages of aftercare instructions before I got pierced, when from my experience most places just look at your ID. Read Less

I've had 3 tattoos done since May 2016 at defiance by Chase! my daughter got her nose pierced very first piercing! Love this place! Great staff & atmosphere. Very clean & they were extremely helpful & they answer your questions. The last tat I had done was actually one that needed fixed & even though it's small it wasn't easy & it was pretty bad. The guys did such a great job took there time figuring out how I could keep the main focus of the tattoo but also making sure it was going to turn out well & Chase at the very end added this tiny little effect & it turned out fabulous! Do not go here. I got a simple tattoo on my ankle which they told me over time would fade but within a month it was completely faded and part of it was missing. I went in to show them and ask about a touch up only to be treated poorly. I don't know if it was because I am a young college female or simply because they have poor customer service, either way I don't think it is right for paying customers to be talked to that way. I do not appreciate someone trying to belittle me when I come in to their business to ask a question. Read Less

The guy who pierced me was anything but personable. I don't think he smiled once, and didn't thank me when I tipped him. He did an alright job, but I had to ask him questions about aftercare instead of him volunteering the information. The job got done but it sure wasn't pleasant. Read Less
