Sam F. Totally killed it on a skeleton piece for me. Matched my pre-existing work but made it his own. Everyone in the shop is super chill and cool to talk to. They treat you like friends, not customers which is really a rarity and totally appreciated. I want to collect a piece from every artist because they are all so incredibly talented with their own unique styles. I was tattooed by David several years ago and I came to him with a vague idea for a Lacey foot tattoo. At the time I had no knowledge who owned the shop but I was happy to recognize him from Body Language and he had a vague recollection of me. He had to book me several days out, which was absolutely okay. The day I came he had prepared my sketch which he practically greeted me with the second I walked in the door for my appointment. I instantly fell in love with it. During the process, he asked me questions about my hobbies including tarantula keeping, and he worked very fast on my foot so it was great since that is such a sensitive area. I told him my mother was into coloring mandalas and Paisley designs which he asked if there was a way for him to have, and she gladly emailed them to him. My only regret is I didn't tip him, mostly because I'm an idiot and for whatever reason didn't realize was customary even though it's really common sense. My last tattoo came from another shop that I won't name on high Street whose owner was extremely hostile to me. Now I'm stuck with a tattoo I have a negative association with but I plan on one day returning to American crow to have it fixed, even if I have to book David months in advance. Read Less

In terms of quality of tattoo, good. However, hospitality and service at a 0, and that's being nice. Most of the tattoo artists are not very friendly (expect for the two female ones who are very cooperative). To add, last time I got a tattoo here, I could literally hear my artist, who was Sam, making comments and jokes about my tattoo with another fellow artist at American Crow. Which was when he was preparing his station for me. Which is very unprofessional, and could've at least had the common courtesy to talk about it after I had left. Despite whether you like what the actual tattoo is about, I'm giving you money to put permanent ink in my skin, and I would appreciate it if you could at least show me some respect for it, while I'm in there. Not to mention I was charged $150/hr for it. So unless you want to have your artist to laugh about what tattoo you're getting because they don't have the same ideas as you, I wouldn't advise going here. There are tons of other great shops in Columbus that are far more worth your time and money. Read Less

I have had tattoos here from David and Eric, they both did an amazing job. American Crow does tattoos better than anyone else and I will never go to another shop. Got my tat last spring by Sam, and absolutely am in love. I get compliments on it ALLLLL the time! And while the work is absolutely amazing (which is obviously the most important thing), the artists are so friendly and chill. They were great at keeping me company and making the experience all-around awesome. I hope to someday get David to do a piece for me. Regardless, I will never be getting another tattoo anywhere else! One of the best things about this shop, all the artists I've met here were super nice and down to earth. Had a friend get a great piece at this shop. I am new to the area and was pleased that I had found a shop to finish my sleeves.The hours are slim at Saturday and Sunday only and they will not call or email you back.  I guess they arent accepting new clients or money at this time. Read Less

I had an appointment this weekend with David Boggins at American Crow tattoo and I couldn't be more pleased with either the service or my tattoo. When I found David's stuff online, I was incredibly impressed with his work, especially the detail he manages to put into every piece. I live about three hours away from Columbus but I knew I would be willing to make a trip for the right artist. David was definitely the right artist!I sent him an email with a link to a Pinterest inspiration board I had made. The American Crow website encourages you to do this when you email them, which was a great idea! I explained to him what I was looking for, set up an appointment, gave them a down payment and settled in for an anxious wait! Possibly because my consultation was over email, I didn't see a sketch until the day of. Depending on how much control you need, you might have to ask David for progress pictures or for email updates. For me though, I was perfectly fine with being surprised! As for the shop itself, I immediately felt like I had walked into the right place. Animal skulls on the wall, antique furniture, rich colors and the Beatles playing on the radio. It was like I'd walked into my dream living room. The lady manning the front desk was very, very nice and I'm bummed I didn't catch her name. Because this was my first big tattoo and I had just spent three hours in a car thinking about what was to come, I was VERY frazzled! I mean, she asked me who my appointment was with and my mind just went blank! She was very patient with me and very kind.David showed me the sketch and asked my opinion on a few things and we were ready to go! He has a tv and a computer in his space for putting on movies which was a great distraction. We watched the Royal Tenenbaums after discovering a shared appreciation for Wes Anderson movies. Like the woman up front, David was very kind and patient with me. I was very interested in the process and spent a lot of time hovering over him and taking pictures. His "bedside manner", so to speak, was excellent. We chatted about this and that but I never felt either pressured to keep up conversation or like I was distracting him with my ramblings.
