I do not recommend anyone to go to gem City Tattoos in the Oregon district I asked for a rose on my neck he charge me over $300 plus my grandmother's name was spelled wrong after i write it down my neck is pretty scarred up and I also asked for half of the money back once I told him that I was not satisfied I told him that I wanted a realistic rose and jim put whatever he wanted to on me I told jim that was not the rose that I asked him for his excuse was that he could have did a better Rose I tip him a 100 $ before the work because I always tip artist i have over 36 tattoos and this is the worst one my mother also got ink and she wasn't satisfied her ink fell out which I didn't know was possible this is the worst tattoo I've ever gotten on my body and I don't even know if it can be fixed I don't think anyone should go to Gem City Tattoos I prefer bluebird now sharp and crispy lines and they give you exactly what you asked for and don't bust your head for it. If tattooing was a breakfast then Alex Cooper and Gem City would be the Bacon. The cleanliness, customer service, and overall vibe of Gem City Tattoo and Alex Cooper are second to NONE. Alex's patience and him being his worst critic creates a concoction of epic talents.  Alex should be carried to work on a golden throne and only be allowed to use a golden gun and needles when tattooing. His level of talent and art can only be compared to that of Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent Van Gogh.  Alex is the Gem in Gem City Tattooing.  If you are contemplating a tattoo go see Alex Cooper before he becomes a tattoo reality tv star on Spike TV because it is only a matter of time before his talents outgrow Dayton Ohio. I've been a client of Jim Collins' for 10 years now, and I know he's been tattooing for over 20 years! Excellent traditional tattoo work! I've had my entire back, along with my most of my left arm done by him and am constantly getting compliments on every one. Misty and Coffee have been best friends of Jim's for years and are very talented artists who have been in the industry for a long time. Misty does excellent watercolor tattoos, and Coffee is legit the best cartoonist I've ever seen. Alex Cooper moved here from Cincinnati, and has made his name for himself here in Dayton with the quality of his work! Very tight knit group who will for sure help you with any of your tattoo wishes! Jim has always been incredibly patient and kind. His work is amazing and so detailed it's insane. You can tell the man loves his work and I'm always so proud to show off the tattoos I have from him. All of my tats done by him still looks as fresh as the day I came home with it and I couldn't be happier. I know the other artists in the shop are amazing as well, but I'll never have any tattoos by anyone but the man himself. You will not be disappointed walking in or out. He takes his time to listen to you and really get the best understanding possible of what you want on your body for the rest of your life. Idk about the other artists but do not go to Misty.  She is very nice but she is just got a good artist.  I got a vampire tattooed on my leg and I had to go to a better artist to fix it.  The Tattoo she did was unproportional had no detail in the hands or body.  She gave me the bad Tattoo while she was still working at blue birds and the. She moved to gem city.Again Idk about the other artists they could be fine. Read Less

I got my first tattoo here in November of 2016 by Coffee (tattoo artist's name) and I had such a lovely experience. I walked in and paid the flat rate of $60 for a semi-colon on my wrist. everyone working there, and getting tattooed, were incredibly nice and accommodating for me getting my first tattoo. highly recommend :) Read Less
