I got my cartilage pierced at Blue Byrd and had the best experience. The thing that has stood out though has been the healing process. I’ve gotten my cartilage pierced 3 other times (not from here) and they’ve all ended up getting problems however I’ve had no issues with this one. Will be back! Read Less

I wanted an industrial piercing and just walked into the Wayne Avenue shop. Elizabeth greeted me kindly and had me fill out the paperwork while she got everything ready. She took me to a back room and carefully prepared everything and talked to me about the piercing and I learned I have a small ear. Of course, an industrial ear piercing hurts, but I had my nose pierced somewhere else and it honestly was more painful longer than the industrial was. I bled a lot unexpectedly, but Elizabeth took great care to clean my ear and skin up and waited to make sure I wasn't going to bleed too much and made sure I wasn't feeling faint. She was so kind, gentle and respectful and gave me great information. She told me she's normally in the Miamisburg shop but to come in if I have any concerns about my ear rejecting it or anything else. The shop doesn't give off a necessarily "sunshine and flowers" vibe but I was treated so well and looks are definitely deceiving. I'd send everyone I know to Elizabeth. Price wise, it was $75 for an industrial piercing; I found that extremely reasonable based on how professional and clean it was and how it took about 30 minutes for everything to be done. Had miscommunication with artist about work, on my end, and made public review about lack of ability to receive deposit refund. Went in tonight with detailed drawing and got things squared away with artist. He was really cool about it, talked through design with me, and accepted my apology. This place was recommended to me to get my daughter's ears pierced. As I had my ears pierced years ago (and at some mall place), I called ahead to figure out if I needed earrings, etc. The gal who answered the phone told me they had all the equipment. When we showed up, the gentleman who was up front told me I needed to have proof of ID for her--which how they meet an Ohio law for ensuring random folks aren't taking your kids in to get their ears pierced. Additionally, turned out we could bring in our own quality earrings to be sterilized and used so the holes would be the right size for earrings vice body piercing jewelry. The gentleman was very helpful and provided all the info I needed, but I wish I'd gotten all that info the first time when I had made the effort to call and check. Came in as a walk-in a couple years ago for a random time intensive tattoo. Even though it was like 6-7 pm they still took care of me, had everything drawn up & ready to go. I can't even say how amazingly talented, professional, and accommodating their artists are. Needless to say, after having work done here my standards are set pretty high. I wasn't going to write this review because of how badly I did not want to create a Yelp account, but thinking of this experience pissed me off all over again. My roommate and I came into Blue Byrd on February 27th or 28th in hopes to get a spontaneous piercing. While we were standing at the counter speaking to the piercer (who was incredibly friendly), a tattoo artist in the middle room repeatedly and unnecessarily jammed himself into our conversation. He made rude remarks and found a way to contradict everything that we could possibly say, whether an opinion was present or not. He was yelling from across the room (into a conversation he was not a part of) in the middle of giving a tattoo to a woman. I'm not sure if I feel worse for the woman receiving the tattoo by this douchebag (with the handle bar mustache and tattooed arms) or for the piercer who was clearly over compensating for the mans behavior. Just stopped in to Blue Byrd to get a tattoo in memory of my grandma who passed. The guys there were awesome, my mom and I walked in without an appointment but they were super nice about it and could take us right away. I explained what we wanted to get and they made a design for us. Cody did my tattoo and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. I'm a bit of a wuss but Cody talked to me and helped me keep my mind off of it. All the guys made us feel welcome and the shop was very clean. My siblings and I all wanted different tattoos but with a common factor. Not only did they help us incorporate it together, they made it so that we could all see them getting done. I don't usually write any reviews, and certainly not bad ones, but this is a different situation entirely. I would like to say that my experience with the punctuality of artists at the Middletown location was wonderful and they were flexible with timing. Now, that being said, my tattoo could have been done better by a one armed monkey. The design was INCREDIBLY simple, as I wouldn't have brought anything intricate to anyone I didn't already have work from. The tattoo cost around $200, so price wasn't bad at all considering the fact that it's about 3x5 or so. I initially thought thought when it was finished that it looked fine, mostly because I'm a bleeder and I couldn't tell. About a week later, I noticed lines off like mad and fading like hell when I took care of it as I usually did with positive results before. So, I had the same dude who did it the first time touch it up, a bit of a mulligan. BUT NOPE, it looked worse the second time and I cover the fucking thing up all the time now, I'm probably going to have another artist I trust just redo the whole thing. I was so hopeful about this location for a new approach and seeing David's work, such a disappointment. Read Less

I've been stretching my ears with a home taper kit, and has just gone up to 6g. The next day I wake up to my right lobe red, painful, and swollen twice as big as the right one. Fearing I really caused some permanent damage, I put in smaller plugs and went over to Blue Byrd after work. I walked in and was seen right away. William was very nice and knowledgeable and eased my mind that it was just a minor tear. Following his instructions, it healed very quickly. I will definitely be returning for any future piercings! Fantastic experience. A friend of mine recommended me to Blue Byrd and as usual she did not lead me a stray. This was my first tattoo and my fiancé and I have found our tattoo artist for all our future work. Matt was amazing and really talked me through everything to expect and was quick when it came to actually doing the tattoo. The price was really reasonable too. The other guys were fun and once others in the shop new it was my first they were all right there to make sure I didn't need anything. I'm so pleased with my tat and look forward to my next piece. On a whim, I decided to get my third tattoo. I was in Dayton at the time and stopped Glen Scott first: guy there was really rude and said that I was not being realistic about getting a tattoo as it was Friday and it was 7 pm; basically treated me like I was a bother. I ended up visiting Blue Byrd on Wayne Ave that same night and got the quote tattoo I've been wanting for a great price and it took less than an hour. The final product is beautiful and my new favorite piece. My artist, Craig, was extremely down to earth and great to talk too. He made me feel so at ease and like I was not a problem. I have lots of ink, from lots of different artists, in lots of different cities and the most complimented and asked about ink on my body is the work done by David Klaiber over 10 yrs ago at Blue Byrd Tattoo (this of course was done at the Brown St. Location which I recently learned is no longer there since they've expanded..... ) He free handed large wings on my back, as well is tribal like design of initials that connects the wings together. The work is unique, extremely detailed and flawless. If you're looking for a playing in Dayton or Miamisburg to inked, you should even think twice before making this the obvious choice. If you're lucky enough to meet David you'll see by his personality and utmost professionalism as to why this place is above and beyond the rest. ** I currently live in Chicago but would even consider taking a road trip back to Blue Byrd just to get inked again at Blue Byrd.
