I came into Evolved looking to get a poorly done tattoo elsewhere redone. I got randomly assigned to Quil. To be honest, this isn't the way I typically handle tattooing. I'm the sort who researches, checks out their book online, etc. etc. but I had had work done at Evolved over the years and knew the shop's reputation for hiring great artists, so I went in and figured I'd see what they suggested, knowing I could always leave if it didn't feel right. I think it took 6 seconds of interacting with Quil before I was sure this was the exact right fit.Quil listened to my concerns about what currently existed, asked intentional questions to be sure to understand what I wanted, and then explained exactly what could be done to achieve the desired result. I then completed the mandatory paperwork (which had a space to list the name I wanted to be called--maaaajor applause for inclusivity!). Once paperwork was done, I witnessed the prep process, including sterilizing the area and getting new needles and such ready. By the time the process was done, I ended up not just thrilled with the final tattoo result, I was beyond grateful to have lucked into being tattooed by someone who not only had epic-level talent but who was a really cool person. Happy Birthday to me. This the 4th time I've received a ear piercing but the 2nd time I've gone to Evolved.  My first visit to Evolved was for my 40th birthday, 9 years ago. I received a Tragus. As it has been a while, I don't recall the artist but I do recall the pain and crunching sound through the cartilage. I decided I would wait a while to give it another try.As my 49th birthday approached, I decided to give it another try. I went in a little nervous, but there was no need to be. I met Sosa and fell in IMMEDIATE like!I introduced myself after he introduced himself. When he heard me say my name he asked if I spoke Spanish. After I said yes, we spoke Spanish for the remainder of the visit. Although, I'm fluent in both languages, I felt extremely relaxed speaking with him.I decided to get a Rook. His piercing technique made me decide to get another piercing! He was that good. There was no pain. In fact, I asked if he could put a new earring in the existing Helix piercing. I felt that him putting a new earring in the existing Helix hole was slightly more painful than when he pierced the Rook. I plan on returning for my 50th for another piercing but will only do it if Sosa is there.Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist/cashier. Although I was nervous she was patient with me. I'm not sure if she left for the day but when my piercing was done there was a new receptionist/cashier. As, I had passed her when I arrived, I new she hadn't been there long. She wasn't very cheery. In fact, she didn't seem to want to be there. However, despite the lack of cheeriness of the receptionist/cashier, I plan on returning for Sosa to do my next piercing on my 50th birthday! Great piercing experience! They have lots of good deals, including free piercing with purchase of jewelry on Tuesday, free piercing on your birthday with purchase of jewelry, and buy one, get one free piercings with purchase of jewelry on Thursdays. I opted to walk-in on a Thursday, so there was a little bit of a wait. Dave was really friendly and courteous and made me feel very comfortable. I cannot say enough good things about this place! Staff is ridiculously friendly & make you feel super comfortable. I went in today to do a spontaneous piercing for my birthday & got pierced by Dave! (PSA: they do free bday piercings!! not including the jewelry)Coming from someone who has tattoos and piercings, I am just not a fan of needles. so I was super anxious & extremely nervous but Dave kept me calm and very comfortable. I visited summit first and there was a 45 minute wait on Tuesday for piercings (you get a free piercing with purchase of jewelry) so I called the high st location and they didn't have a wait so I went straight there. The lady at the desk was super nice and informative and my piercer Dave was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough. Best body art place in Columbus!!I went here with my friend to watch her get her nose pierced, and ended up leaving with a conch piercing on my ear as well! I was visiting Columbus awhile ago and I went in to Evolved to get a piece of jewelry changed on my septum piercing I got less than a month prior (pierced somewhere else). The lady behind the counter acted really inconvenienced that I was even asking to be helped, but regardless I told them I wanted to get a retainer put in. She showed me one piece of jewelry (which I would've liked to see more and look around at their options but again, customer service wasn't her strong suit) and she told me I could do it myself because it's 'not that hard.'Now, I'm a bit of a germophobe when it comes to my piercings so I came into the shop specifically to get it changed just to make sure everything was done correctly, and I didn't want to irritate my new piercing because I can't even see it.. since it's inside my nose.. so I wanted to have them put it in for me. The lady was really  rude and would clearly have rather done anything but help me. She was like "it's busy so it's a really long wait. I GUESS you can stay." So of course at this point I'm like alright, I don't want to inconvenience her by making her do her job, I'll leave. I put in the piercing myself and it was fine, it really wasn't that hard. I've been going here since my senior year of high school when I decided to get my doubles pierced. Since then I've been back for 4 other piercings, including my nose ring which I had pierced elsewhere previously and it got really irritated so I took it out. I don't remember everyone that has pierced me, but I know Dave did my nose piercing and it turned out wonderfully. He was so calming and pleasant during the whole experience. I am absolutely terrified of needles, but when I went to get my doubles pierced, Holly made me feel so at ease, and it was over before I knew it. Evolved seems a little sketchy on the outside but once you go in it is beautiful and clean. There is always someone working the counter there to greet you, point you in the right direction and answer any questions you might have. I was stressed out about getting my first tattoo but they were all so friendly and understanding my nerves dissipated. Jake answered all of my questions (and the 500 my roommate asked) without getting annoyed. He made sure I was comfortable and knew not only what was happening but that if I needed a break I could easily take one. I received 4 piercings when I went into evolve. I was welcomed and walked through the jewelry I could select. It was shortly after opening on a week day so I had no wait and was one of the few customers in the store. Dave pierced my ears and did a great job walking me through cleaning practices. I have had a few piercings before so I wasn't too nervous, but for anyone that may be, he kept good light conversation which I'm sure could calm some nerves. I was in and out in less than an hour. Great service and atmosphere, located in downtown Columbus. You may need to find street parking, so bring some change. Abundant variety of jewelry and colors to choose from. I got my right tragus pierced while my friend got her nose pierced. We were quite nervous, but Dave + the staff made us feel very comfortable throughout the process. My tragus piercing just felt like getting a quick shot! According to my friend, her nose piercing felt like a hot needle, but it was a quick process too. Many of the artists are nice and very good at what they do. Though, it never fails that someone will speak down to you here. They act like you should know everything when you walk in, and sass you when you ask questions. Most people don't realize this isn't how other tattoo shops are run (most of them actually treat you like an equal). This shop has such high ratings because a lot of rookies come here to get their first tattoo/piercing, think it looks nice, give them 5 stars, and never go anywhere else to compare. I was in Columbus for a conference from NY and when I googled tattoo studios there were several that came up with 5 star reviews.. BUT... they were all 1-5 reviews total. Evolved had 139 five star reviews and that sold it for me! I walked in on a whim and wound up with an AMAZING tattoo. The price was great, and Giovani was incredible to work with. Bottom line: if you are looking for amazing ink, do not pass go, go straight to evolved and you WON'T be disappointed! My best friend and I went to Evolved to get our first two tattoos together. Giovanni worked on us and did such a wonderful job of making us feel comfortable and that we were in good hands. He made sure we saw that everything was cleaned properly and that he was using a new needle (for each of us). I went in for the first time yesterday. Everyone that I met and spoke with were exceptionally polite and friendly. My main reason for the visit was to get proper hoops for my ears. I am eventually going to start stretching but have to prep for it mentally one step at a time. Michael was an incredible person to work with and I got a lot of information for future piercings that I wish to have done. I will be back after the first of the month to start those. I am on a very... tight fixed income, so have to plan every step and there was no pressure from any one to "do it now." I am also saving up for the first of several tattoos that I wish to have done. I have just about convinced my Aunt to come in, She just want to have her ears re-pierced, normal piercing, but I am comfortable enough to bring her in. I always loved the high street location-- it's charming, clean, and welcoming-- and this weekend I went to the Summit location for the first time and it is just as lovely! I went to Evolved to get my second tattoo, and I could not be happier with my decision! I researched Evolved artists and decided that Jake Brentzel had the best style for what I wanted. He drew up the exact design that I wanted, and the tattoo turned out perfect. My husband and I wanted matching tattoos and decided Saturday at dinner that it was the night to follow through.  Our place of choice was closed for the day, as were the shops nearby.  I found Evolved on Yelp and it was open for several more hours.  I've heard many good things, so we drove over to see if there were open appts.  I went in and upstairs while my husband went to park.  I told the woman behind the glass case who greeted me what I was looking for.  She went away to check, then came back to tell me someone would be available in a half hour.  Beware, the black sofa is very uncomfortable; you feel the springs anywhere you sit.  We waited on the matching loveseat which was a little better.  The same woman made copies of our driver licenses and we completed the consent forms.Joe, the young hippie guy helped us with what we wanted, made an adjustment for us, then we all went in the room to get to work.  He is very nice, and professional.  He did a great job! However when we got there she needed to reschedule it due to the person behind us needing more time. We were leaving the next day so we weren't able to make a late appointment and she was nice enough to let us come in before the shop opened to get our tattoos done and she also gave us a discount. I honestly love the Summit St location, walked in by chance with a friend for their Thursday piercing deal and was beyond impressed. Four piercings and two tattoos later it's just about the only place I'll bother going to. Lacey absolutely killed the start of my thigh piece and she made the whole experience awesome. The shop was very clean and I felt very comfortable walking in here for my first tattoo. I wanted a simple one, black ink, about the size of a dime. It was $90 before taxes and a tip, which is insane to me. For a piece thats maybe a half inch by a half inch, I do not understand why I was charged $90. Not only that, the tattoo artist kept making "jokes" at my expense, which I did not find the least bit funny. I got my helix pierced by Ben and it was a great experience! Everything was sterile and the process was quick and easy. When I told Ben that I would be back in Florida when it was time to change the size of my bar, he took the time to go the extra mile and look up a tattoo shop in Gainesville that is APP certified where I could have my bar size changed. I highly recommend Evolve Body Art for your piercing needs! I'm sure the other piercers are great but I highly recommend Ben! If I'm back in Ohio sometime I will get my second helix piercing here.
