June 22, 2018 - Final update. The tattoo has been healed for months and you can barely tell there were any problems. There is still a little scarring in the middle, but it looks good. I am happy that my husband's tattoo looks as good as mine. Thank you to the team over there for their hard work and time! Special thanks to James and Bully for the great work they did on our tattoos.
Jan 5, 2018 - Update to the below original review. After my husband and I left our reviews, we were contacted by the owner of The American Tattoo Company. He was very apologetic and genuinely seemed to want to make things right. We went in last night to have Bully fix the areas on the tattoo that were scarred or missing ink. He spent the time to fill in what he could without going over the areas too many times. He fixed the lines that were wavy too. It was a very pleasant experience. James was also there and apologized as well. We very much appreciate the effort and concern that was put forth. The tattoo looked good coming out of there last night and good this morning as well. Bully asked for my husband to stop back in Feb so he can see how it has healed and take care of anything else that may need touch up on it at that time. Once the tattoo is healed, I will update my post again accordingly. If it looks as good as it does now, I would give the team there a 5 star and we will go there for all future work.
I pondered leaving this review for months as I have mixed feelings about the experience there. We went here to get matching tattoos after we got married. It was a big deal to us as we were together ten years prior to getting married. We were each getting three separate tattoos on our left arm. We had James and he was doing ours back to back. Mine took close to four hours to complete. We took a break and then came back for him to start on my husband's tattoos. Several times coworkers of his would come in and check on the progress. The comments and way they were said made it feel like he was moving too slow. The comments were so much, that they jokingly wrote down times they figured he actually finish. After our break and James finished setting up for my husband's tattoos, it felt like James was in a rush. He was moving faster and less carefully then he did with mine. He went over certain spots so many times of Jeff's main tattoo that it looked like he was tearing the skin up. We were concerned with his tattoos when the healing process was slower, more painful, and more discharge then mine or any of his previous tattoos. Fast forward 4-5 months, mine look great and healed nicely. Jeff's two smaller ones have a lot of ink bleeding. Not crisp lines. His main one is heartbreaking to look at. Lines that should be straight have wiggles in then. There are so many spots on the black ink that were not filled in and right at the center is terrible scarring. The scarring is so bad, that we wouldn't be able to get it fixed if we wanted to. I wish the outcome had been different there. It's something that is very symbolic to us that we were so excited to get and it has been spoiled.

This place is amazing. I had a custom tattoo drawn up by Steve (in an impressive amount of time) and came back the next day to get it done. I felt dizzy part way through, and was brought water, peanuts, gummy bears, and a wet paper towel by the staff there. Steve is super friendly and was talkative with me and my dad and it helped distract me. The tattoo looks AMAZING, better than I could've expected, and the healing process took no time at all. It didn't even hurt just a few hours later. Plus, the prices are very reasonable! I'm definitely coming back here for more tattoos.

Got a walk-in nose piercing with Devon. Soreness and redness completely disappeared after 3 days. She was also really funny and super accommodating to my needs. I faint really easily so she kept an eye on me and let me lay down for a while after the piercing. We also changed the position of the piercing a couple of times with no problems (I ended up going with her initial instinct). Overall, would recommend and come back for any future piercing.

I picked this place because of the wonderful reviews. I got my nipples pierced by Brittney. She was wonderful; professional, funny, and made the situation comfortable. My piercings look great with little to no soreness/drainage next day. I love them! If I want more tattoos/piercings while I'm in the area I will definitely be back.

I had his signature and Brittney added the Date of his death for me. I was very pleased and will definitely be returning for my next.

I came to the American Tattoo Company yesterday for the first time after being referred by a friend of mine. I saw that he (my friend) had beautiful work done on his arm and learned that his tattoo Aries was Bully. I made an appointment and went in to meet Bully for the first time during which time we discussed my tattoo design at great length. He worked with me for over an hour going back and forth design-wise to design the perfect tattoo which, in the end, fit my vision eve...n more than my original idea did. The collaborative effort and process was really enjoyable and, after asking if I wanted to get the tattoo started that day (which I did), he printed the template and went right it work. Bully is AWESOME and really like the atmosphere of the studio as wellβ¦ It's very fun! While he worked on my arm, we shared some great conversation and had some good laughs. I'm going back at the end of this month to get the color put in but, thus far, I couldn't be happier. My tattoo is exactly what I was looking for! Bully it's super nice, very detail-oriented, super efficient, and overall...does amazing work!!! I felt like what he did in about 2 1/2 hours on my arm would've taken much longer by someone else and the line work is spot on. I can't wait to go back and defiantly recommend him ππΌ! See More

Just wanted to throw a quick shoutout to Brittany Kopin for the fantastic work she did last weekend on my traditional arm piece. Talented and genuinely awesome, in general, you will most definitely not be disappointed in the work she does for you. If I lived in the region (I'm from Louisville, Kentucky), she would definitely be doing more work on me. I also want to show props to the rest of the artists and staff. Everyone was very friendly. The overall "vibe" in this place will show a newcomer how well the staff gels. All in all, a great experience. Thank you!

I have had two tattoos done here so far.my first one was from wayne,who made my first experience positive enough to come back.My most recent tattoo was from James,who hand drew my tattoo in about an hour or two,and just the stencil looked absolutely amazing.we finished the whole tattoo in one 2.5 hour session,and i absolutely adore.he listened to what i wanted in a tattoo and made a smooth lined,cartoonish,american traditional tattoo so vividly saturated with color,and im so proud to have it forever now! I came in as a walk in on the weekend with a good idea of what I wanted. Wayne was happy to help and offered some good suggestions. He drew up a more refined version and we got to work. He was quick, cool, and very good. The tattoo healed really fast and wasn't even red the day after which is surprising. I would highly recommend and will probably go back for another one sometime soon.

I went to The American Tattoo Company for my first tattoo. Beginning to end the entire experience was phenomenal. From the initial consultation, Bully was receptive to my ideas and was very helpful in suggesting ways to translate them into tattoo form. Day of the tattoo, he was very thorough and great to chat with without having to force conversation during the 2/2.5 hour session. The other artists' work looked great and Bully's B&W art was similar to what I was looking for in mine. Clean shop, clean rooms, great staff. All in all a fantastic first tattoo experience from beginning to end. Would highly recommend!

Went in to get a basic white sox logo on my arm awhile back. Before I complain I will say the place was clean and organized. Also this is based off of one experience and I cant blame the establishment as a whole... that being said... The artist said he couldent place the tattoo in the spot I asked him to ( I didnt ask for an opinion just put it on my skin dude) after he gave me a price of 75 dollars which was fair he decides to change the price to 150 after the work was done. Didnt even look me in the eyes when he said it. Very sheisty. I still tipped the poor lad because he clearly needed it. The tattoo isnt even filled in great. After I got the work done it seemed like a group of usuals were at the shop hanging out in the front giving me bad looks killing the vibe. Your not badxss's because your fifty and decided to stain your privilege with tattoos. I just gave you business an overpaid for a tattoo that I could of done myself, at least put on a smile. This is my first bad review. This place left a horrible impression. Step it up. Learn how to be friendly and stop taking advantage of kind people.

Prices are extremely reasonable, less than I expected for what I got this last time! I recently moved to Lakewood and think I'll call this place my tattoo shop for a while, I just can't say enough good about this place.

I was hesitant to come here because there were no reviews yet, but I wanted to give it a shot. My friend and I went there to get our noses pierced and I was impressed nonetheless. No ink for us, but looked at some of their portfolios, and they looked like solid artists. The place was clean, great atmosphere, good music. The artists were professional and friendly. Davy was the lucky guy to punch our holes. Highly recommend this place for ink and piercings.

I was reffered here by a friend, being a tattoo virgin I was a little unsure about how the experience would go. I wanted to do a tasteful tribute to my Dad who had just passed earlier in the month. I had his signature and Brittney added the Date of his death for me. I was very pleased and will definitely be returning for my next.
Also I was treated to a very colorful and entertaining conversation from the staff while I was waiting my turn.... a+++. Keep it up. Thanks for making my Dads memory stay alive!!! βοΈ

I have had several tattoos done here all were spur of the moment. They turned out amazing. As I write this review I'm contemplating going in for another spur of the moment one. π love you guys. Hope to see you soon!!

I came to the American Tattoo Company yesterday for the first time after being referred by a friend of mine. I saw that he (my friend) had beautiful work done on his arm and learned that his tattoo Aries was Bully. I made an appointment and went in to meet Bully for the first time during which time we discussed my tattoo design at great length. He worked with me for over an hour going back and forth design-wise to design the perfect tattoo which, in the end, fit my vision eve...n more than my original idea did. The collaborative effort and process was really enjoyable and, after asking if I wanted to get the tattoo started that day (which I did), he printed the template and went right it work. Bully is AWESOME and really like the atmosphere of the studio as wellβ¦ It's very fun! While he worked on my arm, we shared some great conversation and had some good laughs. I'm going back at the end of this month to get the color put in but, thus far, I couldn't be happier. My tattoo is exactly what I was looking for! Bully it's super nice, very detail-oriented, super efficient, and overall...does amazing work!!! I felt like what he did in about 2 1/2 hours on my arm would've taken much longer by someone else and the line work is spot on. I can't wait to go back and defiantly recommend him ππΌ! See More

Just wanted to throw a quick shoutout to Brittany Kopin for the fantastic work she did last weekend on my traditional arm piece. Talented and genuinely awesome, in general, you will most definitely not be disappointed in the work she does for you. If I lived in the region (I'm from Louisville, Kentucky), she would definitely be doing more work on me. I also want to show props to the rest of the artists and staff. Everyone was very friendly. The overall "vibe" in this place will show a newcomer how well the staff gels. All in all, a great experience. Thank you!

I have had two tattoos done here so far.my first one was from wayne,who made my first experience positive enough to come back.My most recent tattoo was from James,who hand drew my tattoo in about an hour or two,and just the stencil looked absolutely amazing.we finished the whole tattoo in one 2.5 hour session,and i absolutely adore.he listened to what i wanted in a tattoo and made a smooth lined,cartoonish,american traditional tattoo so vividly saturated with color,and im so proud to have it forever now! Out here in Cleveland visiting my mom and she mentioned this shop by her apartment. We planned on getting mom/daughter tattoos but she got sick. Mom is going to be ok. I came in as a walk in on the weekend with a good idea of what I wanted. Wayne was happy to help and offered some good suggestions. He drew up a more refined version and we got to work. He was quick, cool, and very good. The tattoo healed really fast and wasn't even red the day after which is surprising. I would highly recommend and will probably go back for another one sometime soon.

I went to The American Tattoo Company for my first tattoo. Beginning to end the entire experience was phenomenal. From the initial consultation, Bully was receptive to my ideas and was very helpful in suggesting ways to translate them into tattoo form. Day of the tattoo, he was very thorough and great to chat with without having to force conversation during the 2/2.5 hour session. The other artists' work looked great and Bully's B&W art was similar to what I was looking for in mine. Clean shop, clean rooms, great staff. All in all a fantastic first tattoo experience from beginning to end. Would highly recommend!

Went in to get a basic white sox logo on my arm awhile back. Before I complain I will say the place was clean and organized. Also this is based off of one experience and I cant blame the establishment as a whole... that being said... The artist said he couldent place the tattoo in the spot I asked him to ( I didnt ask for an opinion just put it on my skin dude) after he gave me a price of 75 dollars which was fair he decides to change the price to 150 after the work was done. Didnt even look me in the eyes when he said it. Very sheisty. I still tipped the poor lad because he clearly needed it. The tattoo isnt even filled in great. After I got the work done it seemed like a group of usuals were at the shop hanging out in the front giving me bad looks killing the vibe. Your not badxss's because your fifty and decided to stain your privilege with tattoos. I just gave you business an overpaid for a tattoo that I could of done myself, at least put on a smile. This is my first bad review. This place left a horrible impression. Step it up. Learn how to be friendly and stop taking advantage of kind people.

Prices are extremely reasonable, less than I expected for what I got this last time! I recently moved to Lakewood and think I'll call this place my tattoo shop for a while, I just can't say enough good about this place.

I was hesitant to come here because there were no reviews yet, but I wanted to give it a shot. My friend and I went there to get our noses pierced and I was impressed nonetheless. No ink for us, but looked at some of their portfolios, and they looked like solid artists. The place was clean, great atmosphere, good music. The artists were professional and friendly. Davy was the lucky guy to punch our holes. Highly recommend this place for ink and piercings.
