I went here to get my helix pierced for my 16th birthday. My piercer was Heather and she was AMAZING!! I was really nervous and she helped calmed me down. She talked me through the process and after I was pierced, she gave me her opinion about what ear piercings would look good with my new helix piercing and my ear shape. Be wary though, the people that work the front counter will try to upsell you on jewelry, so tell them your budget before they start showing you jewelry. Went in with an infected dermal on Saturday. Heather helped me and told me what to do. Today is Monday and the infection is gone. No more itching, pain, redness, or swelling. Heather rocks! I did my Yelp research before I went to "Good Life" and chose them because of their professionalism (not some shady tatt parlor with a room in the back), and because they carry high end jewelry.  It definitely was expensive, but I know it will last forever.  (My boyfriend paid, so that helped a little....)I dealt with Max in picking out my earring; he was lots of fun and very knowledgeable.  Heather did my piercing.  Even though it hurt like #$%& she did a great job.  They told me exactly how to take care of it so that it would heal properly, and it did.  They gave me info on medical procedures with gold body jewelry, and I used it when I had an MRI--and successfully kept that sucker in my ear while they did it!  Woohoo!I would recommend GL without hesitation, and if I should decide to get any more holes in my head I will go back to them, without question! As someone who has never gotten anything but her earlobes pierced I was apprehensive of what to expect when I went to Good Life with my sister. I was so pleasantly surprised when we walked into such a friendly and clean establishment. Max helped and inspired us with ideas and pieces of jewelry that we could get. This place came highly recommended to my friends and I by others who had been pierced here and was one of few places who "pierced with solid gold" (which my friends needed). So here's the good...Heather the piercer was awesome!!!! I would totally go back to her and she's the reason I gave 3 stars (if I could give her 5...). The rest of the staff was fun and nice! The shop is very clean and very nice! Here's where I caution, buyer beware....their jewelry is hand polished & some designed there. When you go in, of course, they show you the nicest, most expensive stuff. We picked out some things, my friends needed gold due to allergies. I specifically told the guy I didn't need gold and he pulled out a different set of jewelry. I picked out the cheapest pieces and asked twice if this was the cheapest they had and he said yes. $400 later! I bounced along all excited with my friends telling others about our fun piercing experience. We then found out most of our friends spent less than $100! Went back to the shop to find out what was going on. 1. I apparently bought white gold even though I specifically said I didn't want it & wanted cheaper! 2. I would not have picked the two pieces I did but only chose them beyond was told they were cheapest they had. Now I'm stuck with them (one for a freaking year). 3. Turns out my friends who were pierced with gold....yeah that gold ring slides into a steel tube setting! Not good if you are allergic to metal!!!!! The owner really didn't offer any options for making all of this right except throwing my white gold out & putting titanium in (not paying $400 for that), and my "white gold hoop" turns out is steel and the decor is white gold so totally not worth the $$$ . So I'd suggest this place for getting pierced, go see heather!!!! But be extremely aware and cautious about what you are buying in jewelry!!! This lil studio rocks. It's piercing ONLY (no ink) which means the people there really know their stuff and offer great advice. I needed to switch out a helix seamless ring because a piercing I recently got looked weird with it, and Max was SO patient and enthusiastic as I held up like 10 different pieces to my ear to see which one would work. Note that they have FINE jewelry, so this isn't your average cheap stainless steel stuff. They carry anatometal and BVLA and have a really beautiful selection that caters to lots of different styles. Warning: They really will throw a fit if you touch anything. I care about sterile jewelry but whats the difference between me touching my freshly cleaned ear and jewelry to show you something relevant to what I came in for, and touching the nasty doorknob on the way in. There is the standard of cleanliness that beats every other shop in town - and then there is germaphobia. Also, they didn't have /any/ basic steel jewelry for plugs or cartilage, and I can't wear acrylic while stretching. Was going to replace the carts instead since I lost the backs - The cheapest pair of metal earrings with stupid stones I could get was ~$100. I came for the customer service yet I left feeling dirty and poor. Got some sterile body jewelry online from a reputable source for a few dollars and changed my piercings myself. (Woe is me, I know.) Note: The crowd here are as hip and friendly as you could ask for. I'd absolutely still go here for a new piercing because they /are/ skilled professionals. Hopefully by then they'll have some affordable basic studs and bars, not everyone wants to wear stones/color. Read Less

I won't get pierced anywhere else after discovering Goodlife in Akron. I travel an hour each way to come here and it's well worth it. Jeremiah Currier piercer and owner is amazing at what he does and he's a really great guy in general. They want to help people express themselves and self expression is key to happiness. This is also most definitely the cleanest piercing shop I've ever been too. I arrived on time and saw Jeremiah sweeping the sidewalk in front of his store for 10 minutes. If someone spends that much time making sure the sidewalk is clean you know there shop is going to spotless. I've had some very advance piercings done here and I'm very happy with all of them. We took our daughter here last night to get her ears pierced for her sixth birthday. The entire staff was helpful, friendly, patient, and overall, very charming. We never felt like idiots for asking a million questions and the staff seemed happy to pull out different jewelry upon our request and show us things that caught our eye (We chatted mostly with Heather, Max, and another fabulous guy at the front counter whose name starts with K but escapes me at the moment (sorry!). ...They never acted put out or like they were too busy-even though they were very busy. Aaron did a fabulous job with our daughter. He was patient, quick, funny, and professional. We loved the experience so much that I had him pierce my conch while I was there. It was the most painless piercing I have ever had and it was my 10th. I got my conch pierced the other day and i'm more than impressed. when i first walked in, the guy at the front was very friendly, helped me pick out an earring that was within the price range I was looking for and was so helpful and knowledgable! I went in scared because I hate how much the healing process of a cartilage hurts, but the guy at front was really reassuring and helpful! As a local of Highland Square, I'm a huge supporter of the local businesses. Good Life being part of that family. We need a good piercing shop in town. Especially with the ones as knowledgeable as the people working there now. I myself have over 15 piercings. I gave two stars because of the pricing of the merchandise and procedures, but also because of poor customer service. The workers there have an extremely wealthy knowledge of the topic, but we're pretty rude when conveying their information. This would've happened over 6 months ago. I got yelled at for touching my own piercings. The one guy told me my anti eyebrow piercing wasn't real and whoever did it shouldn't be a piercing artist. Yet, I've had 10 of my 16 piercings don't through this same person. And they have all been good piercing. Never once had an issue. And who would pay over $50 for a simple piercing? I'm sure some would do it, but I surely wouldnt. I pay $25 a piercing. No matter what. And the same exact jewelry Good Life sells can be found all over the Internet for literally a fraction of the price. Overall, I love that Highland Square has a nice clean piercing shop to offer, but I wish the prices weren't outstanding and the customer service was alot more considerate of people and the piercings they got elsewhere. I have been to a number of tattoo and piercing shops over the years but I have never been 100% satisfied with my experience. So when I decided to get an a apadravya (penis piercing), I was more than a little hesitant when looking for shops. A friend of mine was coming with me to get a vaginal piercing so when she she said she had done extensive research and wanted to go to Jeremiah at Good Life I trusted her and went along with it. The actual experience was everything I hoped it would be. He made me feel comfortable and not at all awkward when handling and piercing me. He turned what could have been a horrific and much more painful experience into one that I feel good about. I was surprised with how much knowledge he had on my piercing and it's care. Since then I have had Heather also swap out my jewelry and it is a pleasure every time. This review is a bit late, as I got my nose pierced about 2 years ago, but this place is amazing and I'm sure has only improved since then. My nose was pierced by Heather, who was just an apprentice at the time, but she is fantastic and she learned from Jeremiah, who is absolutely the best. This team is very involved in their work, and they spend lots of time staying up-to-date and educated about their craft. You can see all of their certificates on the walls! After Heather pierced my nose, she gave me very detailed instructions on how to care for my piercing. And when I got lazy, and had some healing issues, she was there to tell me how to fix it. All I did was come in to get a septum clicker removed that I couldn't reach the hinge of. I had just gotten back from another shop where they ripped my piercing while attempting to take it out. I am dealing with agoraphobia so coming out of my house to let a stranger fiddle around in my nose was terrifying enough, getting injured in the process was not what I was anticipating. Embarrassingly enough I came into Good Life crying. Jeremiah was amazing, instantly made me feel safe, calm, and that I was in good hands, which I was. He got my clicker out of my nose quickly and painlessly. I had to take it out a few months later and let it heal, I got it re peirced by a guy at assassin tattoo. and now I know why its worth it to drive to highland square and see Jeremiah at Goodlife. the guy at Assassin  was horrible. made me bleed all over my shirt and had to pierce it twice because he didnt put the needle in right - Also didnt give me any after care products. I had been going to Good Life since they first opened (and they were under a different name) up until I moved out of state last year. I have gotten countless piercings there, including tragus, conch, and septum, among many others. Jeremiah is a true master at what he does. He takes piercing seriously and it's his shop, so the pride he takes in his work is immeasurable. He is kind and gentle, and I would trust him with any piercing you may have in mind, no matter how intricate or complicated it may be. He did all of my piercings there throughout the years except for when I got my double nostril piercings (Mike Burkley did those, and he was also amazing, but I don't think he even works there anymore), and he also did a vaginal piercing on a friend of mine who was very satisfied with his work. Also of interest, the jewelry that they use and sell there is top notch. No corners are cut in that department. Getting a piercing with cheap or inadequate jewelry is not worth your time or investment, so if the prices here are too rich for your blood remember that this is your BODY and its safety and health are invaluable -- wait until you can save up for it and go to Good Life where you know you'll be in good hands. This is literally the best piercing shop. I have been to several piercers and taken friends to different places, but Jeremiah is hands down the most skilled piercer I have ever come across. I have never had a single complication from any of the 8 piercings I have received from him. Last time I was there, I told him I wanted a triple ear piercing and let him pick the location and work his magic. He could not have picked a better location for the shape of my ear. I got a tattoo and got my ears pierced from Good Life probably a year ago and I have to say... They are the most legit tattoo/piercing business I've been to in a while. They take good care of you. I went to Good Life to get my tongue pierced, and I was really nervous when I first walked in. Once I had filled out all of the paperwork, Jeremiah helped me pick out the best rod for me and went through the following care beofre I had the procedure done. When we went back, I sat down and he was hillarious. He really helped me to relax and feel comfortable. Not to mention how knowledgeable he is. Everything was done so well and he even stayed half an hour after closing to let me recover a bit. I cannot say enough positive things about Good Life and Jeremiah.
