I went in with my Husband to get a tattoo in honor of my grandpa, and my husband also got a tattoo to add to his collection. After talking with the owner Terry in length, he drew something up for me and nailed it. I don't have another tattoo on my body (i have 14 of them) That even compares to the quality of his work. He is an excellent tattoo artist. He has been tattooing for over 28 years, and has owned his own tattoo shop, in the same location for 27 years. He has 2 employees, whom one has been there 15+ years, the other 8+ years. The shop is clean and they are very professional. Terry himself is an amazing person. He volunteers his time to women who have survived breast cancer. He tattoos on new nipples for them after they have lost theirs due to breast cancer. He does not charge them. He also traveled to California to study under an expert tattoo make-up artist for months, to learn how to tattoo make-up. Terry also does a conceal and carry training class once a month. He is a very well rounded individual. Also, you will often find Terry's wife in the shop hanging out with the artists. I am a crazy over-protective mother. My daughter wanted her belly button pierced, but I told her she had to wait until she was 18. Well, when she was 19, we talked, and she asked if I was OK with it. I asked around to all of my friends in Alamance County and found that Backwoods Tattoo was the best place to go. She went with a friend and was treated great. They did ask her for her ID (which I appreciate - because she looks young for her age). Her piercing was flawless with no problems at all. Later, when she made her college dance team (before the 6 weeks that you can take out the ring), she went to Backwoods, and they helped her with the clear bb ring that she could wear for dance team.
