First impression seemed ok. They told us it wouldn't be a long wait, maybe an hour for an artist to do a tattoo. So we waited and after a hour and half or more, we decided to make an appointment. But, it is a non-refundable deposit of $100 for an appointment(that goes toward a tattoo, so You better get one). Wasn't impressed with being told it wouldn't take long when people were coming in with appoinments while we were waiting. Gabe did my first tattoo ever. He made me feel so relaxed and kept me talking about other things to keep my mind off the pain. It wasn't as painful as expected but the whole shop made me feel welcomed. I absolutely love my tattoo and when I return to Moore county plan on going back and having gabe tattoo me more. I highly recommend this shop to everyone, gabe will always be my go to artist. I wanted to get some fresh work and asked a few friends whom I trust where to go. Valhalla was the unanimous recommendation. The scheduling process was doctors-office style professional and efficient. Craig was great to work with, friendly, and as another review mentions he has some good stories-which is nice when someone is sticking needles in your arm 1000 times a minute.  His work looks like he took the design provided, made it bigger, and applied it to the site. Craig also talked about the work with another artist before we got started-literally spent a few minutes comparing notes together and making sure we were on the same page, it was reminiscent of what I've seen builders do, and the result is outstanding. The tattoo is Complete robot-quality workmanship.  You can expect excellent conversation, good humor, and a great shop environment. The place is super super clean and rather upscale - almost like a spa but with tattoo artwork and dudes with beards giving people tattoos. I have never been to another tattoo place like it, I found it to be atypical for my tattoo experiences - in a great way. They absolutely hold to the southern pines style of service and hospitality, without the requisite arrogance or air of exclusivity that commonly flows down Broad street. Craig's military background appears to be responsible for producing a very repeatable, customer focused, PROFESSIONAL, and enjoyable experience. If I get another tattoo, it will be at Valhalla. Great shop, not your typical tattoo shop where heavy metal music is blaring and the tattoo artist are not scary looking like some tattoo shops I've been too. I had Matt take me as a walk-in and he was very professional and nice. Did a great job. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone. Read Less

My sister and I recently went the Valhalla for the first time and both our artists were amazing! This place is awesome! Specifically Alice, who completed a beautiful half sleeve for me that I love so much I've decided to have her take it all the way down my arm and I can't wait! Her work is amazing, she talks and plans with you before tattooing and gives you thorough instructions on how to heal it properly. After care is just as important, if not more, as the tattoo itself. I sat through 4 sessions with her and healed quickly each time with no issues. I have quite a few tattoos from different states and this was by far one of my best experiences. The rest of the artists and staff are super cool too, in fact Craig did some work on an old tattoo for my husband and it looks fantastic! I have been to many different tattoo shops and tonight being my first tattoo with Valhalla I have to say that I am very impressed! Gabe did an absolute amazing job fixing some previous work done by other artists (not at this establishment) and freehanded some awesome biomech. These guys know what they are doing and have it together. Everything is clean, elegant, streamlined and you feel really welcomed to be there. I won't be going anywhere else from now on for tattoos! I spent a couple months looking around the Raleigh area for an excellent tattoo shop/artist that could really execute the tattoo that I had in my head. I work in Southern Pines, so when I heard about Valhalla I decided to look into them. I compared portfolios of several artists and read through hours worth of reviews on Yelp, Google and Facebook. I finally decided to go and talk to Craig at Valhalla because his style seemed to best suit what I was going for (Traditional/Americana). Getting in contact with them was easy, even over the holidays, and I was able to set up a consultation to go over what I wanted and what I had spinning around in my head. Two weeks later I had my appointment with Craig. We spent some time going over his design and the colors that we would use. He was very open and was excellent at communicating his ideas and understanding mine. He did the most amazing tattoo on me that I have ever received and I will absolutely be going back again and will recommend him to everyone that I know. Such a great place with great people. If you want a quality, custom tattoo then you have to check out Valhalla Tattoo & Gallery in Southern Pines!Additionally, Craig is retired from the US Air Force and is a veteran of many tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was an awesome guy to talk to and had some really amazing stories to tell.
