He’s been going above and beyond my expectations with my full sleeve. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first tattoo. José did a great job and was SO kind during my ear piercing. I explained that I was a little nervous and don't like needles and he was very patient with me. He did a great job, it did not hurt at all. The only reason I am giving a 4 star instead of 5 is because I wish that there was more variety of studs for piercings. Also the pricing of North Star was very professional, I went to check out a few other tattoo and piercing locations and they were SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive and used the same type of jewelry, or some other shops were about the same price (or lower) but I would not have wanted to get a piercing at the other locations. North Star was very cleanly, and seemed to take all the necessary precautions to sterilize and prevent any piercing issues. 10/10 would recommend José for piercings! Read Less

I would give it zero stars but thats not an option. This is the ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE EVER to get a tattoo. I wanted to get my tattoo fixed that they did and I was told no that they didnt see a problem with. I went to another place to get their PROFESSIONAL opinion and they said it looked like crap and needs to be fixed. Done today by Michael! I was made feel right at home. I highly recommend this place. It was easy to find, parking was easy for a Thursday afternoon, and the building was inviting. The whole process was easy from start to finish and I never once felt uncomfortable. Everyone who greeted me was friendly and the environment was clean. Plus their prices were so reasonable! Another place I was thinking of going to not only had one less star rating than North Star Tattoo, but they were planning on charging me $50 more for the same four symbol tattoo but on a much smaller scale! In conclusion, North Star Tattoo has a friendly, clean environment with reasonable prices. I'm not exactly sure what else one might want from a business. I highly recommend. Read Less

The shop is clean and up to date but the artists is why I continue to go. They are cool af and very professional to day the least. Anything you want they'll make happen for you. Great with cover ups and exceptional with color tattoos. They do every piercings except for dermals unfortunately but the prices aren't gouging like most places. North Star was definitely great! Very clean and they are all obviously very skilled. I got 2 tattoos at the same time from Shane and was 100% pleased! The shop is very nice and you get a lot of privacy in the separate rooms (my first tattoo was in a shop that was all one room). The only reason I took off a star was because I wouldn't recommend them for your FIRST tattoo. I got no aftercare instructions which was fine because this wasn't my first time, but if it were I would definitely want a run through of how to care for them. Read Less

Very painful experience for all of us.   I came in for a nose ring after I was told I could get a hoop in my nose over email, but instead this man shoved a tube down my nose and his needle five times.   He kept trying to force the thickest ring into my nostril when it clearly wouldn't fit, and I was balling my eyes out begging him to stop.   My friend went into cardiac arrest because it was a traumatizing experience.  Finally we settled for a stud in my nose, after I was uncontrollably bleeding.  I asked him if he was messing my nose up but he said "nah", but my nose is definitely messed up.     I'd give him negative stars if I could. I got my first tattoo here and I have to say...it was all worth the wait. I was greeted when I first walked in the shop and was offered a drink. I got sat down and began to discuss my tattoo idea. The pricing was very reasonable and you can negotiate which is awesome. The artists are very understanding and social. While I was waiting for my tattoo to be drawn, they let me play GTA V. Once we got to the chair and began the tattooing, the artist kept me distracted by talking to me and putting on some awesome music. Went in today and got new tattoo for my grandma who I just lost and a touch up on my existing tattoo on my back. Shane killed it did a great job! Very professional and clean place. Price was very reasonable where most parlors charge by the tattoo and design, they charge by the hour. You could get 5 tattoos in an hour lol! But really this is a great hidden gem right near downtown and shaw university. I'll defiantly be back and will tell anyone looking for a tattoo to go here hands down. Read Less
