This tattoo shop comes highly recommended by many of my friends. So I bit the bullet and decided to get my 3rd tattoo here. I went during a consultation day and talked to Dustin about what I wanted. Set up the appointment and then just waited til the big day. It was my first tattoo in 10 years so I was a bit nervous. My last tattoo was done in a drunken stupor so I barely remembered what a tattoo felt like. Lol. But Dustin was friendly and after applying the stencil, making sure I was happy with the placement, he let me know that he was going to pull a line on the tattoo and to let him know how it felt. It hurt. Not gonna lie. But after a few mins I remembered it wasn't so bad after all. The place is super clean and the staff is extremely friendly. From the time you walk in to the time you leave, there's active conversation and engagement by the staff. Which is awesome. Some shops aren't like that at all. The artists are very talented and they can do an array of art pieces. I plan on getting some piercings in the summer and have heard rave reviews on how great the piercers are! Read Less

Went to see my favorite piercer today, Nathan. I got another cartridge piercing. He is great. I would never think of going to any one else. He always takes the time to explain what he is going to do and when he's finished he makes sure you know exactly how to care for your new piercing. I have been coming to FTT for years. I absolutely love the atmosphere. Every single person who works here is welcoming and super friendly. I've gotten a piercing by Jen. She tells you everything she is or will be doing and takes pride in her work. I've been tattooed by 3 of the artists, Dustin (3 times), Bret (1 time) and Linzi (many, many times :) ). You cannot go wrong with any of the artists here. Kelsea does spectacular work as well but I have not been tattooed by her. Linzi is working on a  1/2 sleeve for me and at each appointment she greets me like a family member. I adore her. So sorry this is late! On Tuesday I came in with my friend and her daughter. I was getting a Monroe piercing. This was my first time here, my friend had highly recommended the place. Before we even got to the door Jen had greeted us and seemed super nice. We were helped as soon as we stepped in. I explained why I was in and asked if there was availability. They were closed Sun and Mon so I couldn't make a reservation. The gentleman, Nathan I believe was his name, at the counter assisted me and asked if he could do my piercing since he was an apprentice. He seemed very confident and had lots of experience so why not. Jen and Nathan explained everything and examined my lip to make sure everything worked out. During the procedure he was calm and relaxing and talked me through everything. Jen was always right there to assist. I'm so thrilled with the piercing and my experience. If I ever need a piercing again I will be back here and ask for Nathan, I hope I got his name right.  My friend and daughter will be in the fall and hopefully he will be there for them. Ever had your skin so mutilated that it not only became infected but skewed the entire design?  This would be that moment. Having owned and worked in a tattoo shop for the majority of my twenties I KNOW how a shop should be run. The girl at the counter not only doesn't let you get a word in edgewise but the artist who did my tattoo looked at it and said "don't remember doing that" before he dismissed me and walked away. When something is PERMANENT you expect it to be perfect. When I wanted to get it fixed I had to make an appointment to be told I had to come back and when I came back was told to make yet another appointment. Nothing but crap service. Worst tattoo ever. If you value your skin DONT use Bret or better yet find another shop. But if you can't find another shop be patient and wait for one of the other artists and hope they get it right the first time because if it needs touch up? Good luck. Read Less

I stopped in to take a look at the jewelry selection to get a ballpark price for a piercing and see what available time they'd have coming up. To my surprise, they worked me in on the spot, since it was a pretty straightforward piercing. If you didn't figure it out from the picture, these people are happy and friendly! They made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in (actually, I had called a day earlier and the man I spoke with was incredibly friendly and super helpful). Everyone I spoke to was very knowledgeable and super easy to talk to. The shop is extremely clean. Great place. I arrived about 12: 30 (30 mins after they opened), and they were already getting booked up fast. I was greeted in a friendly manner, and waited with my husband until my time (only about 10-15 mins). But it was also after they opened. Piercings are first-come basis, I suggest earlier, they got busy fast.I was getting my ears re-pierced (standard), and a nose piercing. Filled out a form the same way you do for any "procedure", showed I.d.  Jen (the piercer), asked me about the services I wanted and thoroughly explained the types of jewelry offered and which types were best for aftercare, etc. I've been pierced before, but you always get a little nervous :-)She explained what she was doing through the whole process and stopped to get my feedback about placement... if I was feeling alright (not light-headed, etc.). She started with my ears--let me take a deep breath each time (only felt a little pinch), and she cleaned them, etc., all while explaining aftercare. Same with my nose piercing, I put my head back, she made sure I was doing, okay, and asked me to take a deep breath and the piercing was slightly more of a pinch than my ears (totally clean, relatively painless, and pretty swift).Jen was friendly and professional, made conversation the whole time while doing clean, sterile, and professional work, and totally explaining aftercare.The shop is clean and they use proper equipment (I'm not an expert, but I know what to look for and Family Tradition Tattoo more than meets standards).I paid, and also bought a cleaning  spray solution called, "H2Ocean" that they sell conveniently in shop. This is hands down the best tattoo shop you will come across in the Charlotte area. They artists the have are FANTASTIC- so helpful, creative, patient, and TALENTED. The piercer there is PHENOMENAL and takes such pride in her work. I've never had someone pierce me so perfectly and take such time! Their customer service is awesome and the whole experience, atmosphere, and service is more than you would "expect" from a tattoo shop. A lot of tattoo shops will treat you like an idiot for not knowing certain things, or make you feel unwelcome, or you wait around forever for some attention- NOT AT FAMILY TRADITION TATTOO.
