UPDATE: We brought my daughter back today after seeing their reply. Jen and the front desk staff were totally amazing! My daughter got her ears redone with the titanium studs, an aftercare solution, and a follow up care sheet. We both couldn't be happier. I'm absolutely amazed at the level of professionalism and customer service Gypsy Rose has shown us. We are beyond impressed and thankful for everything! Highly recommend! I took my daughter here for her birthday to get her ears pierced for the first time. I told them I had severe genetic metal allergy, so they should use gold or titanium and they said they would use the metal they typically recommend to people with metal sensitivities. They were very gentle and kind and told her to just leave them alone, no twisting, no cleaning, rinsing thoroughly after showering and to come back if there were any problems. She followed the instructions and within two weeks came to me complaining that they hurt. She had pus oozing out of the holes around the earrings. We took her to her physician who removed her earrings, drained her ears, placed her on antibiotics, and recommended we wait 8 weeks until fully healed before we try to repierce. I called Gypsy Rose and explained this to the front desk staff, who informed me there was nothing they could do except sell me a cleaning solution next time (why not the first time?) and recommended titanium earrings (didn't they use titanium the first time when I told them she would likely have an issue?), then told me I could come back in and pay full price to get them pierced again. This is very disappointing customer service. Money wasted and literally nothing to show for it. My daughter is extremely disappointed. Read Less

I was a walk-in with a crazy idea to get 5 different tattoos done in all sorts of different areas, all in one visit. They were pretty simple and on the smaller side. Shop 1 told us what we wanted couldn’t be done. Shop 2 told us that they were done working for the night even though they were open for another 2 hours and 45 minutes. Finally called Gypsy Rose and when they were super pleasant when we called, we decided this was the spot. The atmosphere of the shop is cozy and fun, the staff is super nice, and they got us in and out so fast, did exactly what we wanted, and charged us a PHENOMENAL price. I would have paid twice as much for t...he experience alone because this is the first time in my 10 years of getting tattoos that I felt appreciated as a customer with no judgement because I wanted “basic” tattoos. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a tattoo shop. And didn't even have the chance to get inked. Lord knows how that would've ended up. Came in spoke with the owner first, letting him know what I wanted. Waited ten days heard nothing back. Called and left messages four times never heard back. Finally called and he was there. Acted as if he had never seen me. Well after refreshing his memory, I waited and waited once more to hear from him. Called three more times with no response. Hands down one of the best tattoo places I've ever been to. Angelo was awesome and everyone that was there was very polite and welcoming. The atmosphere as soon as you come through the doors makes you relax and want to stay awhile. You can tell they only employ the top people in their field and that everyone there enjoys what they do. I had my nose pierced (not here) about a month ago. My nose ring fell out and I called the original shop to have someone put it back in. The original piercer wasn't helpful and needless to say I thought I'd have to let my fresh piercing close. I called Gypsy and told them about my problem and they were SOOO nice and helpful. THE best place to get a tattoo! Not only are the artists exceptionally talented, everyone who works there is extremely nice AND it's clean! It's very hard to find that 3 out of 3 combination. I have recommended Gypsy Rose to many people and they have never been unhappy with the results. I have also met random people who have gone there and have some of the most amazing tattoos. They aren't afraid to say that another artist there will do a better job with the design or idea you have in mind due to their style/technique. Can't comment on their ability to do a tattoo because we couldn't even get that far. My daughter wanted to get her first tattoo so she called and was told by the girl at the desk they couldn't put her on the wait list over the phone... so we drove there to be put on the wait list. We were told it would be an hour or two. Which was fine. We came back an hour and a half later to be told they had no idea how long it would be if at all. My daughter was very upset so we left. They may do great work but they are the most unprofessional. If you want to spend all day waiting for the appointment that was double booked or wait while they try to do a 3 hour tattoo on someone else that they started 20 min before your appoinent then this is your place. They won't have your drawing ready if you come in before hand so at your appointment they can just start. Nope. So, I've been going to this tattoo shop since 2010, and after reading everyone's comments on here, I think there's some confusion. The owners name is Jamee,, not Charlie (close, but still inaccurate) you can even find that info on their official website. She is an amazing artist, so to the person who wished to give "negative" stars, and came on here just to write a bad review, sounds like you either had a bad experience because you were probably a difficult client, that or you were never a client at all, and you're just talking crap, might possibly be competition for you. There's a reason why she's always booked months out in advance, the girl is talented! And that's not all gypsy rose has to offer their whole staff is amazing artists as well, including David, and Bree, (I'm not too familiar with the other artists names, but if they are working at this shop, odds are they are extremely talented as well) all in all, this is the best tattoo shop here in jacksonville, and in my opinion (and the opinions of many others) the best tattoo shop here on the North Carolina coast. Have been getting inked for well over ten years now and have to say this was the best experience I had getting a tattoo. Charlie is extremely talented. She was able to design a beautiful half sleeve around a pre existing tattoo. Her customer service is awesome. Before I went to see her I took my mother in to gypsy rose to her her first tattoo. I had never been in before and had some reservations. Charlie squashed those reservations with kindness and her eagerness to help my mother find the perfect butterfly. Many artists would have rushed my mother along, I mean it was a simple butterfly. Charlie spent the extra time malling sure the selection was perfect. Based on this I immediately made an appointment to get my sleeve finished. I am so glad I did! It is beautiful! Best shop I've been too. I've been tatted before in California and Indiana and this shop far surpasses those. Besides the great customer service and the cleanliness and professionalism of the place, the work is superb. I got my piece done by a pretty cool chick named Charlie. Walked in with an idea, she sketched it up exactly how I wanted and when I had to reschedule they had no problems at the front desk.
