Liz and Shelby are the only 2 artists I'm directly familiar with. Liz has done 2 pieces for me already, and I'm planning my 3rd and 4th. She is AMAZING! The first piece was a tribute to my dad who has cancer and my family. I explained what I wanted and she created the most beautiful piece I've ever seen. The 2nd piece she did is what I call my Warrior piece. I was assaulted in Nov 2017 and she created a beautiful, very personal piece of art. Her personality is...there are no words. She is kind, caring, sweet, funny, and talented. I love her!
Shelby has done 3 pieces on my 18 yr old daughter that are stunning! From the day I met Liz, I have always said that nobody, and I mean NOBODY, else will ever ink me except for her. However, if there ever comes a day where Liz is unavailable to me, Shelby will be my go to girl.
Even though Liz and Shelby are the only artists that I have direct experience with, I have spoke with and seen the work of Johnny, Sonny and one other gentleman. They are all very knowledgeable and talented as well. I may have my favorites, but you will NOT not be disappointed with any of the artists at Smokin' Guns!

I’ve been tattooed by Johnny Awesome several times & he never disappoints. I go in with an idea and he always gives me his honest opinion on placement / what I want and how we could make it better. He free-hands most of his work so you are sure to have an original tattoo! I highly recommend him. However, anyone at this shop is great! Each artist has a different style and they are all super talented. Plus, you’ll be sure to laugh your ass off the entire time you are there because this shop environment is so fun due to all the awesome people that work there!
They do book up months in advance (sometimes) but that’s to be expected when you’re as good as them. They’re worth the wait, I promise.

I am only in town for a few days, heading back overseas next week. Three of us walked in with three very different tattoos and Johnny got us all done that same day! We we're all done within 5 hours. He does beautiful work and does it faster than any artist I've worked with, which is great for getting that painful foot tattoo. He even knocked some off the price since we didn't take as long as he said we would. Good stuff and this shop. I would def go back!

I couldn't have picked a better shop or a better artist for my first tattoo. Liz did an awesome job with a custom piece that captured the intent of the art perfectly. The shop was the perfect atmosphere for my first ink, everyone made me feel welcome and comfortable. The conversation, and more importantly Liz's singing along with ALL the songs, really put me at ease and made the four hours in the chair pass so quickly. Highly recommend Smokin' Guns!!

My friend showed up one day with some amazing work and the very next day I was in the chair with none other than Mr Johnny Awesome. If you're looking to a go to place with artists who are real with you and do AMAZING work(people ask me where I go constantly) then go here. NO better shop in not only the Fayetteville but anywhere even close.

Visiting my husband at Fort Bragg, we decided to get tattoos; best place we could have ever found. I did my research before we ventured out and have to say that Smokin' Guns was up to par with each review I read during my research. Johnny Awesome did a phenomenal job on my tattoo and Liz Gruesome did an excellent job on my husband's. The shop is super clean, organized, the people are very friendly and helpful, and they provide excellent work at even more excellent prices. We will be back again for more tattoos once we get settled in!

This shop has been in business over 20 years. 20 years! That alone speaks volumes about the quality and consistency that comes out of this shop. Clean, friendly staff, and even a great piercer!I was fortunate enough to get a tattoo from the immensely talented Liz Gruesome. And talented is an understatement. She is perfection. She is an award winning circuit artists and her portfolio speaks volumes of her work.Take the time to research your artist. If they have a wait list, it's for a reason.P.s. I had already did my research and looked and his portfolio online and loved his color work so i made up my mind before i walked in that he was the guy for the job. When i first walked in there were two cool tattooed chicks at the front desk who were super nice polite and helpful. It was a clean and chill environment cool artwork on the walls and in the hallway, overall a really nice place. Brent was really chill and professional, work station was clean, diddnt have that im the shit and your lucky to be tattooed by me attitude that ALOT of artists have lol. When the tat was finished i was amazed I had gotten some roses on my shoulder and it was fuckin awesome. Bright color, perfect lines great shading just an all around great tattoo with his personal touch. I'm absolutely in love with it! Don't second guess this place GET YOUR TAT HERE :)

I have had 2 of my tattoos done by the amazing Liz!!!!!! I will NEVER let anyone touch my skin and I am far from done with putting art on my body. I got a tattoo at a very well known local tattoo factory thinking from all the fuss it would be killer and I ended up having to have part of it covered up. Liz will take something simple and make it extraordinary! She is worth the wait to get work done by her, if it took my a year to get an appointment I would. She honestly in my opinion gives every other artist in this town a run for their money.

Once I got to Bragg, I was constantly searching for a shop outside of the Bragg area because of course you never get tatted that close to base. My friend showed up one day with some amazing work and the very next day I was in the chair with none other than Mr Johnny Awesome. If you're looking to a go to place with artists who are real with you and do AMAZING work(people ask me where I go constantly) then go here. NO better shop in not only the Fayetteville but anywhere even close.

Visiting my husband at Fort Bragg, we decided to get tattoos; best place we could have ever found. I did my research before we ventured out and have to say that Smokin' Guns was up to par with each review I read during my research. Johnny Awesome did a phenomenal job on my tattoo and Liz Gruesome did an excellent job on my husband's. The shop is super clean, organized, the people are very friendly and helpful, and they provide excellent work at even more excellent prices. We will be back again for more tattoos once we get settled in!

Other artists I talked to said they couldn't make my idea work, yet Liz was able to without a second thought.

This shop has been in business over 20 years. 20 years! That alone speaks volumes about the quality and consistency that comes out of this shop. Clean, friendly staff, and even a great piercer!I was fortunate enough to get a tattoo from the immensely talented Liz Gruesome. And talented is an understatement. She is perfection. She is an award winning circuit artists and her portfolio speaks volumes of her work.Take the time to research your artist. If they have a wait list, it's for a reason.P.s. I went in to smoking guns yesterday and I had an appointment with Brent. I had already did my research and looked and his portfolio online and loved his color work so i made up my mind before i walked in that he was the guy for the job. When i first walked in there were two cool tattooed chicks at the front desk who were super nice polite and helpful. It was a clean and chill environment cool artwork on the walls and in the hallway, overall a really nice place. Brent was really chill and professional, work station was clean, diddnt have that im the shit and your lucky to be tattooed by me attitude that ALOT of artists have lol. When the tat was finished i was amazed I had gotten some roses on my shoulder and it was fuckin awesome. Bright color, perfect lines great shading just an all around great tattoo with his personal touch. I'm absolutely in love with it! Don't second guess this place GET YOUR TAT HERE :)

I have had 2 of my tattoos done by the amazing Liz!!!!!! I will NEVER let anyone touch my skin and I am far from done with putting art on my body. I got a tattoo at a very well known local tattoo factory thinking from all the fuss it would be killer and I ended up having to have part of it covered up. Liz will take something simple and make it extraordinary! She is worth the wait to get work done by her, if it took my a year to get an appointment I would. She honestly in my opinion gives every other artist in this town a run for their money.
