Tattoo Skate has been pretty legendary in the Durham community for many decades and it's because of their dope artists and quality work. Almost all of my childhoid friends have been inked here. I came this time and had the opportunity to work with Jonas for a small piece on my shoulder. He is so friendly and personable. I had a tattoo in mind for a while now and decided it was time to get it done. I called up to the shop to make an appointment. They told me they would have time at 7pm and I told the guy that was perfect. I have him my name and asked him to pencil me in. He no problem we will see you at 7. I was really excited and and left Raleigh a little early( I was driving to Durham because of all the awesome review I had seen and really wanted to get my work done here). I drove 30 minutes in the rain and arrived at 6:30. There were some people in there so I stood off to the side because I was early and wanted to let them finish. As they were talking I hear them saying that they are tight on time and one of the tattoo artists in the side room said I have time I’ll do them. The guy behind the counter said I thought you had someone coming in at 7 and the guy responds no I don’t think they’ll show. I’m worried at this point and walk up the front counter and and told him I had an appointment at 7 and I think he just gave it away. He went to find the guy who had answered the phone for me and when he came back all he said was” there was a miss communication, we can fit you in tomorrow if you want.” I will not be going back. Not only was it over an hour of my time wasted but the disappointment of listing to them give away your time spot. Horrible way to manage a business. Read Less

My wife and I just went here to get some more ink. We walked in and even though it was a somewhat busy night, they still managed to fit us in. Very courteous staff and professional artists. Danny did our work and did it well. He was open to our ideas and gave some helpful suggestions without taking anything away from our ideas and what we were going for. My husband and I read that they did walk in appointments, so we called them at noon to see what would be a good time to come in for two tattoos. Never had been there before we didn't know what to expect. Christina told us to come in around 3pm. We did. She helped us upon arrivibg. She took an hour to draw up what we wanted. My husband was in the chair at 4:00 out by 5:00, then it was my turn. I got done at 6pm. Christina was extremely focused on her work and we couldn't be more pleased with our new ink!! Went in and spoke to Danny about a tattoo I had designed and already sketched on myself and he was all for it and ready to get going on it. Told him I had to come back later and would be ready to go with it. Came back later and spoke to Christina, because Danny had another client and she literally told me the tattoo was impossible to do and shot down every idea I had. Sorry, I already had one tattoo screwed up years ago because they changed my design so if you can't do something simple, then you must not be very good. Not getting something I don't want ever again. My husband and I spent a ton of time looking for a great artist for our first tattoos and couldn't be happier! We had an awesome experience from the minute we walked in. Jonas was amazing at sketching what we both wanted and didn't rush us. He had tons of great advise to make sure our tattoos great. He was funny, laid back and truly an artist! I went here to get my first tattoo, my artist being Christina Weaver. Place looked nice and clean but the work was not worth my time or money. Lines are jagged, some places are extremely light. Would not recommend. Read Less

Gave these guys a call on a Saturday evening wondering about their walk in policy, the guy who I spoke to took my name and number and told me he would have an artist give me a call whenever they had an opening for me. To my surprise I got called back within an hour and was told I could come by that night and get something done!I showed up within the next hour and filled out all the paperwork. Though pretty tired from a busy day of tattooing, Bruce talked with me and collaborated to draw up my ideal tattoo and sizing and whatnot. The atmosphere is pretty casual but clean and comfortable, everyone there is really kind and cool, and Bruce did a fantastic job on me. I was in and out within an hour or so and I'm so happy with my second tattoo. I'll definitely be going back for my future tattoos as well :) Read Less
