Very very unprofessional, rude . I went there soon as they opened . I mean waiting at the door while Mr A$$ unlocked the door. He unlocked then walked away didn’t push door open nerve said hello hi, I said you could have opened the door he said I’m not your door man. He was so rude. Oh I wonder do he treat everyone like that by the way I’m black. I cried when I got hone can’t believe he was that rude . It’s called common courtesy something you learn at home. My two best friends are white let’s see if he treat them bad. Don’t waste your money go somewhere that appreciate you and your $$$$

If I could give Ray at The Black Pearl 10 stars, I would!! Earlier today we took our 13 year old in for a nostril piercing. Ray answered all of our questions, and gave an explanation for each instead of just a yes or no. During the procedure, he made sure our daughter knew exactly what was going to happen, and gave her breathing instructions that she later said really helped. He kept her totally relaxed, she evened asked if it was already done, and yep, it was! He gave her very clear and simple after care instructions, and gave me a card in case we forget. My husband and I were super impressed with Ray’s professionalism. The piercing is very cute, and we have a very happy daughter!! Thank you, Black Pearl, for having Ray on staff!!

I bought my daughter here to have her ears pierced for her birthday. She had been asking for a couple years to get them done. Ray ( if my memory serves me correctly as I'm horrible remembering names) the piercer here was an absolute pleasure and absolutely amazing through the process. My daughter got scared right before it was time to have it done after a little calming and reassurance she was ready to have them pierced. This entire little episode Ray was so sweet with her. He kept letting her know if she changed her mind it was ok. He convinced her to let him put the little marker dots on her ears to see where they would be placed so she could imagine earrings there. Yup she was ready! He was great with her through it all. I'm extremely happy with the amazing person Ray was and and future piercings he's who I'll be going back to see!

I am 61 years old and never had a tattoo until about a month ago. Friends of mine recommended Black Pearl Tattoo in Clayton. I went in not knowing what to expect. I told them what I was wanting and was set up with an appointment with Derick. I originally came in for just two tattoos and that was all I had expected to get. The first two went so smoothly, that I decided to get two more while I was there. The only thing that I felt was the needle vibrating on my skin. Derick was so good that I now have eight tattoos that I designed and Derick put on for me.

The younger guy with the long hair who does mainly all the piercings is very rude! With a very bad sarcastic attitude. I have 4 tattoos and 9 piercings, I went there for a carteldge piercing and he was rough to the touch and it hurt worse than my nose even did!! Plus they are outrageously priced. 40$ for one piercing when I could have went to the one not even 10 miles away and go it done for 10-15$.

I had a really disappointing experience with another shop in Raleigh and I had been shopping around for a good, reliable artist ever since. Black Pearl only does custom work, takes the time to actually listen to your concerns and what you want and draws it up; so you don't have to worry about your artist printing off the first imagine they find on Google. Such a huge relief!! Derick was awesome, and the experience was probably the best I've ever had. And despite the size the the tattoo- for me this was the biggest one yet, and the amount of color that went into, it surprisingly didn't that that long. I was really pleased! I will definitely be coming back here the next time I want more ink.

I have had three tattoos from Rob Rutherford, owner of Black Pearl Tattoo. Rob is an amazing artist and person. He is so in tune with the subtle nuances that make his tattoos exceptional. His passion for what he does really makes him a cut above the rest. Not only is Rob a tattoo artist but he also builds the very machines that he and many other artists worldwide are proud to use. The shop is immaculate, his prices are extremely fair and his art is addicting. I highly recommend Rob and all of his artists at Black Pearl.
