Go here for your ink. I've had a great experience-- from when I started with an email to the shop about a small tattoo that needed repair to the end with the fix quickly done. Michael is a professional, not just a good tattoo artist. The shop is clean, private (if you need that) and his tattoo chair-side manner is friendly and warm. He will put you at ease whether you're a one time tattoo nerd like me or if you're covered to the knuckles already. I normally plan things last minute, it’s either now or never type deal. I was referred to Mike by several people of whom had several pieces of work done by him. So, I shot him a text to see if he could get me in and I had an appointment a few days later. He was very responsive and attentive to replying to my messages. I met Mike when I was going to school out in CA, he did my first 2 pieces, a cross and Jesus with the crown, his work is amazing, the detail is fantastic and he is such a down to Earth cool guy, funny as hell too. UA makes you feel comfortable from the moment you set foot in the shop and even after you leave. Phil was my artist and he worked with me as much as he possibly could. I came to get an angel wing forearm tattoo from Mike. He drew it free hand and it came out absolutely beautiful. I changed my mind a few times, and he had no problem with making sure that I was in love with the final result. Once the tattoo was done, he provided thorough instructions on the healing process and care of the tattoo. The shop atmosphere was super chill and everyone was pleasant and nice. Finally a place with friendly AND talented artists. Strangely enough it's hard to find both. Other than being a bit difficult to find, this is one of the best studios I've been to so far. I'm always nervous before getting a new tattoo, and it really helps when the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Even though I wasn't technically a walk in, I made my appointment on the same day that I went. I only gave my artist two hours prepare, and by the time I got there he had my tattoo all sketched out for me. My artist was Steve and he did an excellent job. He only charged me $80 for a piece that in my opinion was worth far more. My tattoo hasn't completely healed, so I'm not sure what the finished product will look like, but I have confidence that it'll come out great. I really appreciate the work that Steve did, and the genuine kindness that I was received with. I will definitely be coming back here and recommending other people to the shop. Read Less

Michael was my tattoo artist and is aweome. Answered my email inquiry and set up times for me to come in a discuss my tattoo ideas and scheduled appointments. He was understanding when I had to reschedule too. He's completely transparent which I think is pretty damn important when you're getting something permanently inked on your body. He isn't afraid to joke around so that's a plus.  He suggested my tattoo redesign, size and placement to ensure the best quality.  The other tattoo artist were friendly and were cracking jokes; like the comraderie. Stopped by Uptown Arts on a trip to Charlotte on 04/07/2016. (I live in South Carolina.) Was getting my first and only tattoo and the guys there were awesome. Went with a close friend who is mostly covered in tattoos. Shop was clean and organized, and all three of the artist looked like they lived the tattoo lifestyle. Scott was awesome and was very light handed. Obviously I have nothing to compare this to, but the friend I went with said he was the gentlest artist she had ever been to. This is a shop I have been wanting to check out since it's old location. It's taken a few years to do it, but I finally went........SOOOOOO well worth it. The shop is quaint in size for just the right amount of room and comfortableness needed to get any type of piece done. Mike Drossos is the own of this shop. He is also one of the main artists with Scott Cole working at the chair beside him. Scott's portfolio is amazing as well and can't wait to get a little banger done by him in the future!Had my appointment with Mike on NYE & couldn't have been happier to spend my last day of 2014 with him. He is an artist first & then a tattooist. I needed a part of a piece I had changed/fixed due to another artist royally messing it up. We sat and he took the time to do a "real" consult. He sketched out freehand over the mess up, took his time, and made this piece finally something I will show off rather than cover up. Hell I didn't even bleed! I absolutely love his OCD to making sure every line, shading, size and color is perfect. Watching him work was fascinating! Precision to anything you want to get touched up, covered up, or brand new is just superb. No wonder why he has a wall covered in awards and trophies. I made sure I grabbed a bunch of his cards before I left to make sure that Uptown Arts is the place to go. Hell I was asked about my stuff in the market when I left and gave some out there. ;)All in all this will be the place for any recommendations I will give and the only place I will go for any future work.
