The vibe of this studio is as badass as the talent.  Everything about being there was like a hug from the universe.  I cannot wait for our 5 hour appointments with Lee and Steve in 2 months.  Lee Greene had a last minute opening and I raced in there just to get a hit of the Immortal Images Magic.  Love my tattoo, and it is so much more than just the remaining inked image.  Originally, we (my boyfriend and I) were certain we would get our tattoos at Fus in NODA. The front desk greeter person should have been a tip off as to the vibe of the place.  We did meet with one of the artists who was arrogant and definitely conveyed the vibe that we were lucky to be in his presence.  At Fus, they are known for their talent...but I treasure the entire experience of receiving a tattoo.  It is deeply spiritual and kind of intimate, so I refuse to pay any amount of money to spend extended time in close proximity and being physically handled by someone whom it feels crummy to be near.  That's just me.  Just sayyyin.The minute we walked into Immortal Images, we felt welcome, excited, and chilled out. I had asked several friends for recommendations where I should go to get the color touched up on my only tattoo (I'd gotten it done in Michigan). Hands down, Immortal Images was recommended. I walked in late Saturday and spoke with Lee. Not only did friends recommend him, he happened to have time to do a quick touch up (that was unusual). Lee was personable, knowledgeable, and gave me an honest opinion without trying to oversell more than I needed. Also, the place was very clean, preventative hygienic measures were taken, and I was given both verbal and written instructions. Out of the tattoo shops I've been to, Immortal Images is definitely the cleanest and most spacious out of them. I was tattooed by Steve and the whole experience was very pleasant. Steve and everyone at the shop are very nice and my tattoos turned out great! The line work is amazing and just what I wanted. Steve made sure everything was correct before starting. He was friendly to talk to while my tattoos were being completed and answered any of my questions. Make sure to have cash for a deposit because you'll most likely have to make an appointment and come back to get tattooed, not sure how many walk ins are accepted but it is worth the wait. Read Less

I've gotten several tattoos from Bill and they consistently look better than I anticipate they will. No it's not cheap and yes you might wait weeks for an appointment and yes you will pay a hefty deposit in order to secure that appointment - but then you will have permanent artwork on your body that you love and it's 100% worth it. From how much pride they take in their shop to how much care they give each customer. I set an appointment to get a tattoo with Nick. This guy is awesome!! I had an idea of what I wanted, but I didn't want it to look like anyone else's, so Nick free hand drew on my arm the design. Not only was it what I wanted, it exceeded my expectations. He captured exactly what I wanted. He knocked out a pretty big tattoo on my left arm from shoulder to elbow in about 5 hours. The atmosphere was fun & friendly while I was getting the tattoo. I've been going to immortal for two years now.  Everyone is professional and the shop is immaculate.  Nick has been doing my tattoos.  He is very friendly and open to any artistic designs you are looking for and will make recommendations with his professional experience to make your tattoo the best possible.  Sometimes being able to communicate what you want and being able to translate it in tattoo lingo can be intimidating but Nick makes you feel at ease and very comfortable and doesn't make you feel like a moron.  I went into the shop already having work done by other artist and Nick has done well with placement of new tattoos to already existing ones to complete my sleeve.  I cannot speak of the other artists but they all have portfolios and are definitely worth taking a look. Awesome does not cut it as a description for this place, and particularly for Nick, who, believe it or not, was recommended to me by another tattoo studio who would not work on me because I was asking too many questions and seemed too anxious to them.  For my very first tattoo, I asked Nick to do one on my right shoulder of an extremely intricate photo of a hermit crab that I got off the web.  It looked like an impossible job, but Nick is known as a master of realism, he took it on with relish.  For various reasons there was 6 months elapsed time between when I first spoke to him and when I finally came in the night before the appointment to flesh out some issues with the background, and he remembered the project completely.  It was supposed to take 4 hours, and as a tattoo "virgin", I was more than a bit nervous about going under the needle that long for a first piece.  I figured I really wanted this tattoo, so I came in the next day and threw caution to the wind.   It turned out to be a wonderful experience.  Nick prepared me, had me lie down on his nice comfortable cushioned table, and I lay there and listened to soothing music, completely relaxed, while he went to work.  Not only was the pain not too bad, I very quickly began to enjoy it tremendously.  Must be those endorphins, I guess.  We took one bathroom break at the 1-hour point, then I lay down again until the finish, which was only another hour and half later.  I could not believe he finished it that fast. Better yet, I almost fell over when I saw the result.  He provided a beautiful sort of abstract background that faded into the skin, but the crab was, oh my God, so incredibly realistic, I can't understand how he did that.  Just like the photo, every last pixel!I badly want to do this again, and Nick at Immortal Images will be the guy wielding the gun if I do.  Absolutely incredible. I really wanted to get a tatoo from Nick but when I went to click on a deposit it redirected me to a PayPal page. A $200.00 deposit is a bit much. Esp for someone who is traveling into your city & seeking a tatoo. If I were in your city I may think about it but not this traveler. It also may help not to have someone returning calls only to give 2 words answers "Yes maam". I've been to NYC, OH, & TN for a tatoos & the protocol was not this strenuous for a deposit. Awesome experience.  It has been many many years since I received tattoo (the two I do have were both done in or around college age years, when pain was inevitably muted by a plethora of alcohol and inappropriate sexual encounters)I went in two weeks prior to meet the staff and tour the parlor.  Everyone was super nice and professional and everyone I met had a great sense of humor.   I flipped through all of the artist's books and while they were all phenomenal, I chose Nick as I thought his work better matched what I was looking for.Fast forward two weeks to today.  My appointment was at 6.  I walk in about 3 minutes before 6 and the young lady greeted me and asked my name.  She had all of my paperwork ready and made a quick photocopy of my driver's license.   She took the time to talk about post-care.  She was super sweet and very professional.   Everyone said hi as they walked by.Nick was at the counter right at 6pm and was ready to go.  We talked about the idea I had based on some images I had e-mailed him previously.  He did a rough sketch and I loved the result of that.   Nick was engaging and friendly and we chatted through the majority of the tattoo.  When he was finished, I was shocked...I thought perhaps we were taking a break..nope, that mf'er was done.   Brilliant Brilliant work.  Far exceeded my expectations.I can't imagine you could go wrong with ANY of the artists there but if you get a chance to get some work done by Nick, do it.   He is booked until mid - August..that speaks volumes.  My next piece will be done at Immortal by Nick, or it won't be done at all. Okay, so just so everybody here knows I'm not crazy-pants, here's why I'm unhappy with Chris at Immortal Images.7/19, I e-mailed him that I dug his portfolio and would be in Raleigh (3 hours away) 7/25-8/5 and wanted to get some work done - throw out some ideas, yadda yadda.7/21, his first communication back with me - 1 question.  "How big you want the tattoo?"7/21, I respond back 1.5 hours later with "my only size limit is what you can do in one session"Seven days later (7/28), I e-mail him to follow-up because I hadn't heard from him.He says to stop by that night.  ...I'm 3 hours away, that isn't possible.  Can he see me Thursday?7/31, he tells me he can do 3pm on the 2nd, and I get the first sketch of the tattoo and oh by the way, put a deposit down.8/1, I respond (albeit, 8:30pm) with some alterations I'd like to see to the sketch.  I don't make a deposit, because in my area, that's what you do to GET a sketch.  He never mentioned I wouldn't get an appointment without putting a deposit down.  No quote on cost of the tattoo or anything, mind you.So I drive the 3 hours out to Charlotte, and he just basically ignores me.  Says I didn't make a deposit, so he gave my appointment away.I'm coming from DC, and you couldn't be a touch more accommodating to my unique situation?I went to ACE Tattoos instead and got a custom piece that is my favorite of my 8 tattoos now, done by Tommy, and they did it on the fly.  I got super lucky, ACE's lobby is loaded with trophies.1 star because uhhh... I got a simple tattoo on my ankle almost 5 years ago. Very happy with the communication before tattooing took place...I got a unique tattoo and it is exactly what I wanted.My daughter wanted a tattoo earlier this year, and I knew this was the place to take her. She has a lovely tattoo that she will be happy with forever.A tattoo is permanent, and it is important to make sure you are getting exactly what you want. At Immortal Images they take the time to make an appointment for a consultation, then make another appointment for the tattoo.The studio is fastidiously clean. The chairs have disposable covers, gloves are worn and it is obvious that every precaution is taken to ensure the health and welfare of their staff and their clients.I think the best way to find a good tattoo place is to ask around...and several of my friends recommended this place, with good reason.The high review here on yelp confirms the decision! One thing I have learned is that even though a tattoo shop portrays itself like an art gallery, appears clean and the people seem friendly doesn't mean that it is necessarily the best place to get inked. I've learned my lesson from a place like this in Concord. BUT, Immortal images is hands down the best place in the entire Charlotte area to get tattoos. I challenge anybody to find a more professional, cleaner and friendlier shop ANYWHERE. I had a tribal piece that had been worked on 6 different times by 2 seperate artists and to say the least it was not good, after a consultation I set my appointment and had my whole tribal piece re-worked by Elf while Steve "Owner" checked in periodically and I left knowing that I was in the best hand possible but of course I am addicted to the ink so I am setting up my new appointment! I love the staff at Immortal Images in Charlotte. I have been getting tattooed there since my first tattoo in 1998. It is the cleanest studio around and you get and all around comfortable vibe as soon as you walk in the door. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and always makes you feel welcome. I've been going to Immortal Images since the mid-90s when they had their shop on South Boulevard. Though the location has changed a few times through the years the one thing that has remained consistent is very high quality ink. I have 25+ tattoos and they were either done at Immortal Images or they were retouched at Immortal Images mainly by Steve Huntsberry & a few by Haley Lakeman.  Most of my pieces are custom and I've never regretted any of the work I've had done there. Sandy, the manager, is a sweetheart. She works with people on the phone as well as walk ins to help you discover not what it is that you think you want, but what you need, placement & cost.  Immortal Images has always been an ultra clean facility with comfortable seating & friendly people. I filled through some of the ink artists portfolios here and I was completely hooked.  This is some of the most original tattoo art that I have seen around Charlotte.  I only have two tattoos, but I have been flirting with the idea of getting a backpiece done.  One of my friends, who tattoos from head to toe, told me to check this place out.  I loved all of his body art and he had gotten some work done here so I checked it out.  The place is spick and span, I wouldn't even question the sanitation of there needles or the experience of the employees based on the store's upkeep alone.  I heard that there is a waiting list to get a tattoo here, but I am really considering it, it looks worth the wait. I've never been tattooed by one of the Immortal staff, but I got tattooed at Immortal by an artist who was doing a guest spot in town. The portfolios of the artists who work there speak for themselves...they are all world-class artists, and we're lucky to have them in town.When I got tattooed there, I was most impressed by the professionalism of the studio and the cleanliness. It's like a doctor's office in there. Everything is either disposable or carefully covered. They not only meet the North Carolina requirements, they exceed them.If you want to get tattooed at Immortal, you'll probably have to wait for a while, as the artists stay booked for months in advance. You might also pay more than you'll pay at some of the other shops in town...in spite of the high prices and the long wait, however, you'll  get great, custom work from some of the best in the business. You're taking your safety into your own hands if you go somewhere less professional, and you're risking getting ugly art and having to live with a bad tattoo or pay hundreds of dollars for laser if you go somewhere faster and cheaper.Speaking of laser, they offer laser services at Immortal as well!
