Very professional. I came in with a tattoo design in memory of my father. I explained that this would be my first tattoo and that I was nervous. I was able to email my design to the the artist while in the shop. He then added in the lettering for my design and printed it out for me to see. Next, he verified my size preference and position placement. He was then able to print the tattoo design on a clear film that attached to my skin to ensure that my tattoo is what I wanted and exactly where I wanted it. It came out beautiful. My significant other and I scheduled an appointment with Lamont for my 26th birthday thinking that I was just getting something simple to cover up a hideous scar on my chest, but the experience we had that day will be a memory that unlike my tattoo, will never fade. It was nice to see Lamont already ahead of his work-day when we arrived at the shop; the atmosphere was inviting, the mood was relaxed, and the parlor itself was filled with extremely beautiful pieces of artwork. An uncommon last name that Lamont and my soon-to-be share led to a series of DOPE ASS conversations that my guy and I will forever reflect upon throughout the course of our relationship! Surprisingly, the process was quick considering the size, detail, and placement of my tattoo. I greatly appreciated his efforts to keep me updated on his progress throughout the session and his expression of gratitude towards my efforts to stay still while he completed his masterpiece! My mom and I came in for matching tattoos about an hour or so before closing. Our artist, Darius, was very chill. He did an amazing job on our tattoos and made the atmosphere laid back enough for me to get through my first tattoo anxieties. It took maybe a little over an hour for the both of us to be done. I am a 44 year old mom of three teens that has a really close relationship with my nieces and nephews as well. We lost one of my nieces to Leukemia in June 2016. In December 2016, several of my nieces and nephews were in town (all college-age). They decided that they wanted to get tattoos in commemoration of my niece. I have seen some PHENOMENAL artwork (ink) done on a friend and asked him where it was done... the best way to shop for a tattoo shop, in my opinion. Low and behold, Blaq Lyte Tattoos (Artist: Defense) was referred with glowing review. Not only were the tattoos beautiful: large sun/moon center back piece for my niece, 10" long phases of the moon on forearm for another niece, bisexual symbol tattoo left chest for my nephew, super realistic owl back shoulder blade (pic on D's instagram and portfolio) for same nephew, and awesome script work song lyric left chest for my son. D was awesome with ALL of us! He took so much time and care and listened. Not only was it an emotional time talking and listening about loosing my niece, but it was also when my nephew came out to us about his bisexuality. D was awesome with everyone! I have been to many shops in the Charlotte area and they are either overpriced,dirty or the staff has rockstar egos. I have been getting tattoed at Blaq Lyte Tattoo since 2013. Not only is the staff professional but they are all laid back and cool. I never feel rushed or pressured. The owner Defense is a great artist and a great person. I'm sure that this place is good for piercings and tattoos, but the customer service is legit trash. I went in about a week ago to discuss the design and price of a tat I wanted. I don't know where to start I've been searching for a tattoo shop for 6 years now if not longer for someone to do a tattoo for me I am 52 years old and everytime I see my children or customers and I look at tattoos I just long for one I recently went to blaq lyte to get my nose pierced had an awesome experience and I looked at some tattoo pictures while I was there and they told me to come back when I was ready to get one . I met Andy and it was the best day of my life from t…here he is so humble and had such a good aura about him that I instantly felt comfortable and could Trust him. I told him I had 3 ideas that he could choose from and I wanted him to come up with a drawing since he would be the artist I made my appointment the very next day and came in and oh my gosh the most beautiful tattoo I've ever seen not only did he create it but he did it on my forearm I had no blood there was no pain Andy was always wondering if I was doing okay he would stop and look at me and would make sure that I was. And I can say evidently I was because I was trying to fall asleep I highly recommend this shop expecially Andy he is fantastic not only can he do drawings Andy has a great personality so pleasant to talk with what he's doing your work not to mention nice to look at. I love this place! For one, it is a very clean and bright shop. There is a sense of relaxation when you enter. The staff is so polite, and are more than happy to answer any questions I had for them. Believe me, I had quite a few to ask. :) They were patient with me and my decisions. Definitely a great place to get your tattoo or piercing.
