I've never really written a bad review but I just thought my experience in this place showed that the artist was not very professional.I came in to the shop twice, first time went in to look for an artist that knew or had the aesthetics I was looking for and second to get pricing range and book. Talking to the artist he seem like he didn't care and started giving me random price range for the piece i wanted after showing him where and how big I wanted it. After we settled on a price he personally asked me for my information and wrote down everything we discussed and gave him the deposit he requested.I scheduled my FIRST tattoo 4 weeks after the deposit and when I came in a few days ago to get it I was completely turned off. I came in and told them I was scheduled, the receptionist got the artist and he looks at me very confused. I gave him the card appointment to show him and tells me had double booked but what got me annoyed was that he said HE FORGOT to put me on his calendar a few minutes later. He offers me to come in at a later time, but knowing that the store closes a few hours of the hour he had suggested, I did not want a rushed tattoo especially if it was going to be my first and it was a decent size piece. I just asked for my money back and decided to look somewhere else.I came here because my friends had suggested the place but i found a place near this one and will not be coming back. Read Less

I have gone to this establishment many times with many friends who have gotten piercings and or tattoos done, and every single time I have seen their work and it is always phenomenal. Yet, I am rating Addicted To Ink 3 stars, as I myself got a piercing done here for the first time a few months ago in April. I got a bridge piercing done, at the hefty price tag of $70 (I think, don't 100% remember, it may have been more). The piercing was in the perfect spot, yet even after following all after piercing care procedures, I suffered inflammation and irritation for the months that followed. The piercing began shifting and rejecting, and ultimately I had to temporarily retire it, and got it redone at another great parlor in Manhattan. The piercer there told me that the initial piercing was done incorrectly, as they should have put in a straight bar instead of the curved one I was pierced with at addicted. As you can imagine this was frustrating to hear as I payed a pretty penny for this piercing only for it to reject and scar due to having the wrong jewelry placed in it by the piercer. Read Less

The four stars are for Little Mike only. This place is really cool, so it seems at first. The girl at the front of the store is so rude. She has zero customer service skills. She asked for our id then turns her back to us for a few minutes. When I asked for a tattoo, all of the artists were "too busy" to help us. Even though they had zero customers and were too busy watching game of thrones. We almost walked out until the owner , Mikey stepped up and said he would do it. All in all the tattoo came out great but I definitely left with a sour taste in my mouth. If you are the first person anyone sees, maybe be a little nicer to people who are spending a lot of money in your shop!!! Read Less

Some guy completely messed up my tattoo 3 years ago and I felt like he did it on purpose. He went so deep into my skin that it still hurts 3 years later I got a beautiful cover up in the city, but the lines unfortunately still peak through because they are so deep and thick. I know someone who is friends with a joe or joey and they told me that they considered firing my tattoo artist because he kept messing up peoples tattoos. I really hope they fired him horrible person who messed up my skin forever. Read Less

Piercer haphazardly put the two helix studs so close together on my ear that the two holes almost merged, both earrings sunk into my cartilage/skin and took 30 minutes to take out because they were so close together and so deep within the skin, top one managed to gouge a hole in my ear and now I have two bloody flesh tags on either side of my ear bigger than the studs in place, that I will most likely have to have my dermatologist perform minor surgery on to remove. Never had any signs of infection or anything with these, just mediocre piercing planning it seems. I have had my helix pierced twice before elsewhere and never had a problem like this before, I also asked beforehand if she thought these studs might sink into my ear and if I may have trouble getting it out and she said no. I know this is maybe a unique case but I’m very sad I spent my money here and now have to seek medical attention to solve my issue. Read Less

(This review is on behalf of a friend). A friend of mine went in TWICE to get a small tattoo and was rejected both times for inexcusable reasons. Please note - THIS IS HIS FIRST TATTOOThe first time, he stopped by the shop to get consulted and potentially get his tattoo done the same day (if there was availability), check out some artists and at the very minimum, make an appointment. He was told there was no availability for that day, that he tattoo was too small to make an appointment for and to top it all off, were quite rude about it. Odd, but fine.So, prior him to going back for the second time, I decide to call for him since he was going from a city 45 minutes away. A woman picks up the phone and says that a walk in would be fine and he should have no trouble. He gets there, they say they're unavailable and he still can't make an appointment. Why not at this point just make an appointment? Even if the time slot is short - why not? To say the least, he's not going back. This place I cannot say enough good things about. The staff is great and really do care about their customers, which when I’ve been to other places they don’t as much. I have three tattoo and my second and third have all been done by Den through walk in and he is the best. I just had an awesome experience with Mike today.  As a walk-in, I did have to put my name on a list and go on with my day until they called me to come in, but it was so worth it.  Mike was honest, helpful, professional and kind...and he did an amazing job on my tattoo.  The vibe in there is calm, and the people all seemed so nice.  I spent years putting off this tattoo because of a bad turnout of a previous tat done at a different local shop, and I'm so relieved that I trusted my gut and tried Addicted to Ink. The WORS service EVER!!! I would never go back or refer anyone ! I called two days before going there to schedule an appointment and I was told that they only schedule for big work but since I was looking for a small tattoo then they would fit me in "First Come First serve" and suggested to be there early as they open the shop @1pm. I went there before 1pm and waited till they opened up to make sure I was the first client . I waited for 2 hrs and they still didn't care to work on me because my tattoo was a small one so it wasn't worth their time . However, they were all on their phones taking selfies and chatting with each other. Their manager was very rude to my 8 month pregnant friend that came with me (It was my first tattoo so I was super nervous) and I and told us that if we didn't want to wait any  longer , there were two other shops down the road to get the tattoo done. STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLACE unless you got plenty of time to waste and don't mind sitting for hours on their dirty seats. Read Less

My experience with Addicted to Ink was similar to another reviewer's. I walked there from my office (8 blocks 2x) to speak to them about the small, matching tats my friend & I were looking to get. They refused to give us appointments saying "come right when we open & we'll take you as walk-ins". They didn't tell us no artist is dedicated to walk-ins so if they've all got appointments, you have to wait. No parking except street or mall, so if you have to wait, you're screwed! We arrived Sunday, 1 pm to find we had everyone had appointments! The guy who spoke to us didn't have a good explanation. No matter; we found a better, friendlier place in Yonkers that takes appointments on-line regardless of the size or complexity. This place made us feel as if our 2 measly tattoos weren't worth the trouble. Their loss!! Read Less

This shop (Like most) has it's up sides and it's downs. Most of the tattoo artists here are fantastic at their work. However, almost everyone in here is rather cocky. I mean, I guess if you've been tattooing for so many years and manage very well on doing the tattoos, it'd make sense... Yet I know someone who's repped this shop NUMEROUS times... dropped thousands on them... (for outstanding work, yes) But within the past year or so... this shop has fallen off as far as EQUAL COSTUMER SERVICE goes. One of the ladies who works there (NOT the piercer) never knows what she's talking about... she'll tell you "Oh yeah, so and so can tattoo you" and you'll be waiting literally forever for your tattoo to even get looked at. This young lady doesn't seem to be on top of things. I think everyone should treat the customers like people, and not just go about everything like they own the entire tattooing industry... (Yup they're a great shop... they've won awards...etc.) But if you're looking to get something done, you could be waiting forever. I am NOT here to throw any sort of negativity... I want my review to stand out, so this shop can (hopefully) turn things around and treat the customers with more respect... Instead of the young lady sitting there, watching a movie, goofing off with the tattoo artists and/or playing Xbox. You'd think with how passionate (most of these guys are) at what they do, things wouldn't have flipped around. I truly hope things change for the better. Please keep customers UPDATED if they have to WAIT. Please be more UPFRONT about things ASAP and don't just leave customers confused waiting for HOURS. Thank you for taking the time to read my essay of a review. I didn't wanna give it 1 star cause I do appreciate this shop for what's it's done for my friend. Brilliant and fabulous. I have gone a few times for work here and the art work always surpasses my expectations. I had water color done here and it was the artists 1st time and he did the most amazing job. I love how each wrist is different with water color style. The team there is always engaging and they really want to make you comfortable. I have a tendency to hold my breath and not say a word but they seem to get me to talk. I am big baby so my hubby and Little Mike like to make fun of me. Apparently I make some funny faces and they know I am trying to hide my pain. Always expect to have a great time while your there!! This was my first time here as I followed their new tattoo artist Gunny from another place in Soho. He has a great demeanor and a phenomenal tattoo artist. This is my 4th tattoo of many more to come! We did an entire upper arm in color in 15 hours, what a weekend! You have to check him out on instagram and see his amazing work. @artbygunny    The staff here was beyond friendly and pleasant. I got a piercing here the other day and it was great!! Piercings are walk-ins so I was expecting a long wait but I only waited about 15 minutes before it was my turn. The amount of UPSET I am right now.. I cannot describe.I came here a month ago to get my nipples pierced.I live 30 minutes away from here & only came here because of the reviews. Obviously the reviews must be based on the tattoos & not the piercings.The girl who pierced it was very nice but doesnt have enough knowledge about piercings.My left nipple became very swollen to the point where the jewlery was sinking into my nipple and basically disappeared on 1 side. I kept pushing it out which obviously is painful.I drove all the way back up here so she can check it and make sure it is normal because I dont think its normal that it was sinking into my nipple.I go there and she seemed busy or rushed but basically had an additude. She asked "whats up" and I told her and shes like , "its normal, you didnt even give it a week to come back here , it takes a while for it to heal" she didnt even wanna check my piercing , just to see !! That was SO unprofessional.I ended up waiting a month and noticed that the piercing was getting worse and more and more swollen and painful. Yesterday it began to bleed. I said F this and called a different tattoo shop near my house that has a piercer there. She told me "oh no it is not normal for it to sinking inside the hole and closing on 1 side, they were supposed to change the jewlery into something longer"She told me to go to her and she would help me.I ended up going today, I took off my bra and she said "we have a bigger problem than we thought"So right away, my heart drops and im like, what?!!! What problem?!!And shes like "the piercer you went to, used the wrong jewlery. She used way too small jewlery and those are for like Ears and noses.. not nipple"She had to use a bigger jewlery and ended up having to re pierce them because it was bigger and thicker . That way the balls were bigger so they cant sink inside. Hence why the other jewlery was not good.Thank god I went somewhere else and they helped me.I was on my way to a really bad infection and more problems.I paid $80.00 at "Addicted to ink" for my nipples. And ended up having to pay more money to get the piercings fixed!!!Avoid this place at ALL costs.They're better places with more knowledgable workers and more comforting.Not ones that pierce you and never want to help nor deal with you ever again . I had a decent piercing experience here. But went in to inquire about a tattoo and had a BAD experience. Arrived a few minutes before opening time and parked in the back. Sign on the Wall said Addicted to Ink. Went inside and was rudely told I had to move my car. I explained I had a brief question but was cut off and told to move my car. There's NO street parking and parking lot for a mall is a hike down the street. Basically told TOO BAD move the car. So I did, and I'll NEVER GO BACK. Whatever happened to the customer comes first? My friend and I went in to get matching tattoos and our experience was great! We were greeted when we walked in by Keri who was super friendly and asked us what kind of design we wanted (we already had a rough sketch we drew ourselves) and helped us through the paperwork and all that stuff.John perfected our design and made some changes - we wanted it pretty small so he helped us out with getting the details to look right. He also did my tattoo and made me feel at ease about the whole process - it was my first tat so I was a little nervous about how it would go. It turned out exactly how I wanted. Eddie did my friends tattoo and she was really happy with how hers turned out too. They were both very thorough in explaining the aftercare procedures. The place itself is very clean and there are plenty of TVs so if you're nervous there's lots going on to keep your mind distracted. I've had tattoos done at other places before, but these guys not only know what they're doing, they do it with pride and energy. They don't just slap art on, they talk to you and get to know you. All the artists are super nerdy too, so if you've got an obscure reference you want done, these guys will know what you're asking for and know how to deliver it the right way. Keri is amazingly helpful with any piercing questions you may have. As for the tattoo artists, I have been there numerous times and have seen them all working, the quality of the work is exceptional. If you want custom work they will help you get your idea into the perfect tattoo. My first two tattoos were done years ago at a shop that will remain nameless and I hate those tattoos. I came to Eddie with an idea and he helped me get the idea perfect but when he said "I can cover this up of you want because if would fit better this way", I was thrilled. Needless to say, my cover-up is perfect and even people who knew my tattoo can't find it in the cover-up. If you want a tattoo, I advise going here only. Read Less

Got a tattoo a couple years ago and wasn't happy with it at all. Walked in on a whim to see if something could be done with it. I saw John and he was super excited to fix it. I got my first and second tattoo done here and they are the best quality tats I have out of the multiple I have now.Cash did my first tattoo and he was a very chill dude. He showed me all the new needles being opened and made me feel comfortable. I didn't handle the pain very well but he was cool about it. He drew the piece exactly how I wanted it and did a great job. A girl did my second tattoo, can't remember her name unfortunately. She was awesome! I came in with (poorly done) sketches and pictures of what I wanted, and the next day she drew an amazing piece that I am still in love with to this day! All the other artist's in the shop were complimenting her work once the piece was done. There was a long, straight line on the piece and she did it perfectly. No crooked lines or mishaps! I was blown away. They really educated me about the healing process and made sure I was happy. The place is a bit intimidating when you first walk in, but everyone is super cool and laid back. The prices are also very good compared to shops in the city. If I still lived in the area, I would get all my tats here. Definitely recommend! Read Less
