I have never gotten a tattoo here, but im basing the stars on the few times I went for piercings or jewelry. The piercer Matt does not treat you like a human being, he is so rude. And he will nickel and dime you for any little thing he does. You wind up paying a fortune, you dont even want to tip in the end. Yesterday I walked into Lark tattoo because looking for a new nose ring because I recently took out my nose piercing and lost it. I tell the lady at the front desk what I need she asks me to sign a form since they will be putting the new jewelry in. When I'm finished with the form Matt Cohen walks over to me you're looking for a new nose ring he walks me to over where they are located. I pick the one I want we go to the chair. Before placing the ring in a I had a few questions about the ring I wanted to make sure it was labret style because I don't not like the corkscrew. I asked the first time, Matt answered it's a nose ring, I ask a second I just want to make sure it has two pieces I don't like corkscrew. He goes very stern ' do you want it to stay in or not' huh he asks again in the same rude and demeaning manor DO YOU WANT IT TO STAY IN OR NOT? I refuse to spend money where someone is disrespectful and rude when someone has questions about the service they are receiving. My advice is they need to train Matt on customer service if they want to continue to be known as the best of Long Island. Read Less

I am writing this review as a warning to anyone going to get pierced here. I actually already wrote a review (a positive one, too!) after I got my piercing when I was less informed but now almost 6 months later and about $200 lost, I want to warn everyone about this place. I got my nostril pierced here. I went back about 4/5 months later to have the piercer change my stud to a hoop. In doing so he actually told me it was "infected". He proceeded to then drain the "infection" himself. I want to clarify that he is not a doctor and SHOULD NOT have been preforming this on me. It was extremely painful and technically a minor surgery that was not something that a piercer should be doing in shop. It only creates scabbing, scarring and scar tissue. In addition, he SOLD and told me to use a product that was NOT safe to use on piercings, as it actually clearly states on their own (Lark's) Website along with the actual brand website and the APP website. I was not informed at the time to know that this was not the right practice and that the products he was telling me to use were extremely irritating which is probably what the issue was all along and not actually an infection. This was my first piercing and I trusted what he was telling me. A week or so later I noticed a new bump forming. At this point I knew I needed to look into finding an actual APP board verified piercer to take a look at the piercing as per the recommendations of my friends. In the end, the piercing had to come out because it was completely pierced wrong. Since it was pierced at the incorrect angle it was constantly causing irritation which was causing scarring and was never healing even after 6 months. This issue was due to the incorrect piercing and nothing that I could have done myself to avoid. It was NOT the lack of aftercare as I was taking care of the piercing as per the instructions given to me even 6 months later routinely. Although, the aftercare instructions and products I were told to use and follow were extremely irritating and drying. I want to make it known that this is not a good place to get pierced. I understand, accidents happen, but the fact that it was allowed to get this bad and that almost nothing this shop and piercer did was correct warrants me to inform and warn other people. Now, I have to remove the piercing and let it heal before someone can redo the piercing, which in the end has been a giant waste of time and money. This place is by far hands down the absolute best tattoo place I have EVER been to.  I have been getting tattoos since the age of 18, I have been to a few artist and have no regrets on the artwork I have gotten.  However when it comes to professionalism, sterilization, cleanliness and detail and the pride that is put into each piece by the artist what attracted me to this place.  I personally followed every artist on Instagram till I found the perfect artist for me.  Yes, it may sound creepy but trust me I was looking to start a sleeve and had the idea in my head just needed he perfect artist to draw it up for me.  After a few months I decided to schedule a consult with Hannah and the rest is history.  Hannah is my far my favorite artist I have ever had.  Look no further this is the place to go no matter who your artist may be, your in good hands! Honestly Matt is greattt. I recently came here a little over a week ago and the visit was amazing. He gives you suggestions and he's super friendly. I got my nipples pierced twiced and both times, it got infected. 2nd time, I actually removed it after 2 days cause the pain was unbearable. Matt was the 3rd times the charm guy. Got a double forward helix piercing from Matt.  He performed the piercings quickly and carefully. I also asked him to replace the helix stud on my other ear as I got that piercing a month ago and the post had fallen out. He is very accommodating. From the moment you walk into the store and speak with the professionals here you will instantly gather that these artists know wtf they're talking about. I have been getting inked here every two weeks for about three months now. One thing that I notice is that every time a new client comes in the doors you can see the details in the advise that every artist gives to their potential clients is done with the fact of their experience behind what you may actually want versus what will actually translate to some badass ink on you. The place is very clean and they found me an appointment, as I was going out of town the following day. My experience with Neal was a great one. We had fun and interesting conversations throughout the whole 2 hour tattoo experience. The tattoo ended up bigger than I originally planned on getting it, but like he said, I didn't regret  it. I hope to come back to NY to get one of Neals original designs someday, since I fell in love with one of this drawings on the wall. I have gone to Lark 3 times for my tattoos. Every time it has been an amazing experience. I had been going to Lark for years and loved it. Recently I went there with my friend to get a matching Om tattoo. I put down a $100 deposit for each of which should have more than covered the expense. Both our tattoos are 1 inch in diameter, mine took 15 mins and my friends took 10 mins. They recently raised their rate to $200/ hr. Even so both of ours combined took less than half an hour. At the end I thought it would only be $200 for the both and he told us we each needed to pay an extra $100 each! We were both completely shocked. Anywhere else the tattoos would have been like $80 each. I got half a sleeve done there and each 2 hour sitting was $300. This was a complete rip off and I will never go there again or refer anyone else. Read Less

My 1st appointment there was good, I guess because I was a 1st time client and to impress me was the key. Yes, the shop is cool inside, but I just think I was unlucky ! It's when I needed more to be done to an area as 'add on' pieces showed an annoyance. The tattoo artist wasn't thrilled about seeing me another time ( in my opinion ). He even said to me that it's the last time he'll work on my back, so to pay a person to be unhappy with my desired look is fair ? I don't think so, would you be happy ? All I had a problem with was the color Pewee was using. You have to be comfortable with your artist, why was it such a big deal I don't know. I went there originally to fix a tattoo of paw prints that I got at a previous location and surprisingly didn't meet the eye. My dogs paw prints on a cemented block was supposed to look identical as if my dog placed her paws on my own back, but it came out way bigger, regular / unmatched prints. This was a dog I lost some time ago and all this fixing meant a lot to me. Pewee helped with a rose under the paw prints and he did what he could to distract away from the paws themselves by adding cracks and shading. It's only when the dragon fly and butterfly's were a new thing I came back for to keep adding to the look was when he had enough. I decided I'd still stick with Pewee, due to his experience and I thought my back was just boring him. In addition, I'd already invested a lot anyway and stoped messing with my back. Decided to chose a totally different tattoo approach and was in a totally different spot. Guys, it's been over two years now and I don't ever want to go back and going back is where I made the mistake. I should of gotten the hint that me and Pewee aren't bonding well or it just isn't working out at all or he just put close to no effort into his work on me anymore. When you like someone you'll probably do a good ass job and if you kinda don't, well what matters on the job done, not much if your still getting paid. The tattoo came out nothing like I explained. They over charged for a small desired tattoo. I felt that was intentional. This request was a simple treasure chest, but looks so undefined, too dark and unrealistic. It's like me being nice, understanding and loyal was being taken advantage of. I felt disrespected in the long run, bottom line it's a learning lesson once again for me. I wish I could find a decent tattoo place to get something done that's going to be on my body forever and not have to worry about it coming out like shit. Sorry for the long review. Bruce, wanted to let you know that I was pretty upset at the "no show" appointment I had this weekend. I hired a babysitter and took the 30min ride out to Westbury only to find out that the artist I had an appointment with went home earlier. He did call me earlier in the day asking if I wanted to come in at a different time, but said my appointment time was still fine. I have received 2 tattoos from this place and I have to say, it is excellent. They don't really do walk-ins and they are pretty expensive but that's why their tattoos come out great! If you try to find a cheap tattoo parlor that does walk-ins they will probably not come out too good. Left a deposit for lark tattoo to tattoo my arm at 12pm. Took the day off and scheduled my entire day around the appointment. Received a call less than an hour prior to the appointment telling me that they would not be able to tattoo me until nearly 2 hours later. When I asked for any accommodation (fiscal or otherwise), representative firmly restated the situation. Had I been 90 minutes late to my appointment would they have accommodated? Emergencies happen. Accommodate your customers. I'll make a walk in appointment with someone who appreciates my businessAlso forgot to mention that because of a heart condition I have to take antibiotics before getting any procedure done. I had the pleasure of being tattooed by Bruce today and I could not be happier . From the moment I walked in the door at Lark I felt very comfortable. The place was very clean and cozy and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. I showed up without an appointment and Bruce was kind enough to spend time talking to me about a piece I had that was done very poorly before that needed to be brought to life. He was very patient and honest as he explained what realistic expectations I should envision being that he had to work with the existing tattoo.I felt at ease after speaking to him and was fortunate that he had a cancellation the next day and had a few hours free.I can not express how thankful I am that I walked into Lark Tattoo when I did and there was an opening with Bruce.He did an amazing job and took his time to correct someone else's poor work with pride and patience which I appreciated (which I'm sure could be frustrating to some artists)He exceeded my expectations on the detail he was able to create from the previous tattoo . I came to Lark a few months ago to remove a piercing that was done improperly. It was clear within two minutes of speaking with the piercer that he knew he's stuff. I returned to get my nose pierced properly and he did just that! He was awesome!! From his professionalism, expertise, and wonderful service. Not to mention; I didn't feel a thing. He explained the reason being the type of needles his uses. It was very clear that piercing is not just a job, but his craft. He explained all after care instructions thoroughly. Never going back there. My friend gets his tattoos done there which must be a different story. As for getting piercings, I highly DO NOT reccommend going here. First time I pierced my ear it was $40, I go to pierce the second and I was charged $80 just because I got a matching earring. His pricing didn’t make sense. As I asked questions just to understand everything, the louder and ruder he got. He wouldn’t allow me or my sister to speak when it came to the questions and gave an unprofessional amount of attitude to us. Not only was I charged extra for no reason, I was given another reason to not return due to the extremely poor customer treatment. Hopefully their tattoo services are a lot more welcoming. Read Less

While they have good artists making good work, the amount of negative experiences I've had with them in just the last few years is ridiculous. Avoid Lark if you can, but if you need to deal with snobby artists and accidents, you'll survive. A few years ago i had my septum pierced and the piercer messed it up so badly he had to do it twice. I nearly passed out from the pain. And while he handled it professionally and maturely, it shouldnt have happened in the first place. To this day I'm struggling with scar tissue and frequent irritation. Similar situation happened to a friend who got her nostril pierced. They also charge you a fee if you need to change or remove jewelry that THEY put in place!Just recently a friend of mine wanted a very simple word tattood on her arm in a basic font. It was a walk in and the artist bragged about how much fine line work he does and it would just be IMPOSSIBLE to tattoo four letters on a 3-inch space. Its such an easy tattoo that any artist could pull off. Sure enough we drove to another place in Brooklyn and the artist had it done, beautifully, in 20 minutes. Read Less

I'd been considering a tattoo for at least a decade.  Well I finally decided to go ahead and stop talking about and get my first tattoo.  I'm a person who does a ton of research before I do just about anything.  So when it came to permanently marking my body, you best believe that I spent the a lot of  time making sure the result would meet or exceed my expectations. After a bunch of online research and some conversation with friends I kept coming back to Lark.  I checked out the portfolios and decided this was the place for me.My very first contact with the studio was by email.  I got an immediate email response saying someone would reach out to me.  In less than a few hours Justine was on the phone with me.  She took my through the process, asked the questions to determine the; who, what, where with regard to my tattoo, all the time being extremely considerate, polite and customer focused, an absolutely great first interaction.  I scheduled a consultation and headed in.When I got there I was greeted promptly and I noted how impeccably clean, organized and well maintained the shop was.  There was a comfortable seating area, great music and terrific environment while I waited for the artist who I'd asked for; Bruce.  Bruce greeted me warmly and took the time to listen to my ideas.  I presented him with the elements that I wanted to incorporate in to my tattoo.  He, in great detail, took me through the pros and cons of what I wanted to get done.   More importantly though the provided a ton of suggestions to turn the cons into pros and to make sure that in the end I'd have a beautiful piece of art, that I would enjoy for a lifetime. The entire time I never felt rushed or that my tattoo ideas would not work. In fact the experience was one of collaboration to get a great final result. A few days before my scheduled appointment, Bruce sent me a "proof" of what my tattoo would look like.  We reviewed it in detail. We discussed the font, the negative space and the tattoo in total. Bruce made me 100% comfortable and made me feel like I was part of the design process.  When I asked for some edits, his response was immediate.  He made the edits; and sent me a "final proof" for review.  During the entire process I noted his focus on making certain that in the end my tattoo would be exactly what I wanted.  Bruce is a consummate professional and a true artist who loves his craft.  You can tell from the moment you engage in a conversation with him.I showed up on appointment day and was warmly greeted by Justine who very patiently went over the paperwork with me.  A few minutes later Bruce appeared and we were off.  Bruce had a stencil of my tattoo ready.  We reviewed the size.  He presented me with numerous size options.  Gave me great advice on placement and guided me to a conclusion.  The rest of the process was as I understand it fairly standard.  I sat, he did his thing and we chatted.  The best part was that when the tattoo was done, Bruce looked at it and said you know what we could do to really make this piece even better?  He then proceeded to pull out his iPad, pulled up my final proof and began making edits for me to review.  In about 3 minutes he had completed the idea, presented it and of course it made a huge impact on the final appearance.I once again sat and he did his thing.  A little while later we were done.  An absolutely, awesome experience from beginning to end, with a final result that I could not imagine would be so amazing.If you're considering a tattoo, there is only one place (in my opinion) to head to Lark Tattoo....done! I went to Lark Tattoo two months ago for a forward helix piercing, they have such great reviews and the piercer was very experienced, I knew they were pricey which I didn't mind at all for good service. I informed him I have really thick ears and they always swell after I pierce them.  I have lots of piercings and know my body's reaction. So I wanted a longer ring put in to avoid irritation.  No matter how experienced a person is they should still listen to their clients, as no one knows their body better then the person them self. However he dismissed my statement and said it wouldn't happen because it was him piercing it and not a regular shop. Here I am two months later and the piercing was so deep in my ear I had to go to two places to find someone able to take it out.  My suggestion for Lark tattoo would be to listen to their clients wants and needs more. As soon as you walk into the shop you feel at home. It is impeccably clean and welcoming. The staff are helpful and friendly. This was my first tattoo. Peewee was the artist and his advice on design and placement were spot on. I was a difficult client as my foot keep twitching throughout the entire tattoo, but looking at the tattoo you'd never know. I've been to a whole bunch of tattoo shops before, but wow. Walking into Lark felt like I was walking into LA Ink lol. It was extremely clean and aesthetically pleasing. Anyway, my friend and I went to get our ears pierced, and the piercer, Matt, was extremely knowledgable about the pain level, the type of jewelry to use, and piercing aftercare. He told us he'd been doing this for 20 years and you can just tell he's a natural. I even told my friend he should be a surgeon instead! This was a lot more than I've paid for any other piercing I have but I don't care because you get what you pay for. I will literally come back to this place for everything. Thank you Lark! Read Less

Lark Tattoo was a great spot for me to get my nose pierced. They were very professional and they explained the whole process front to back with post-piercing aftercare instructions ready to go. Matt is well practiced and he knows what he is doing. I totally recommend this place for a clean, hygienic location to get pierced. He used a needle to pierce and inserted a screw stud (which I chose the type of metal) with such ease. I only had one tear and I love the result! He was really thorough in explaining after care instructions and had a great deal on cleaning products. I recommend buying his bag of sea salt for sure. Make sure you actually follow up on washing your nose as frequently as possible in sea salt water. It helped me from getting an infection! Read Less

SEPTUM PIERCING My friend and I had decided to have her nose and my septum pierced and she recommended Lark Tattoo. Upon entering we were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by a nice bearded dude with glasses (sorry I can't remember his name but he was great!!) And the place is GORGEOUS and clean. You know when you go into some tattoo places and they couldn't care less that you were there and roll your eyes at the ridiculous things you say because you're nervous? Yeah this place was NOTHING like that. NICE BEARDED GUY asked us what we wanted to get done and had us fill out paperwork. He chatted with us while we waited and answered all of my friends nervous questions without a single eye roll. She had additional questions about tattoos and nice bearded guy asked her what she was looking to get done and suggested an artist for the particular style and promptly handed my friend her portfolio book. Thank you nice bearded guy.MATTseriously this guy is awesome. He clearly has tons of experience (20 years or more I believe)  and made us feel beyond comfortable. We were escorted to the piercing area where laughs were exchanged and the process was explained. My friend went first and even though she was nervous and a little jumpy, Matt was patient and kind. I of course sat like a pro but this review isn't about me. The instruments were sterile, the area was very clean, and the after care instructions were explained thoroughly not once, but twice. Payment is taken before the piercing, not after, and they have after care products available if you need them. You have a surgical steel or titanium ring option with the difference being $20. If you're looking for a cheap $40 nose piercing this is not the place for you (you're going to be spending 80-100) but it is well well worth it for not only cleanliness but experience. Peewee is the absolute best.  He's very talented and can make your idea come to life.  He listens to what you like and don't like, few minutes later after letting him do his thing BAM, it's like he read your mind.  In fact he makes it better than you envisioned in your head.I had some wording done in a specific font and Peewee nailed it.  He also had to help correct/ retouch and old tattoo which he had to straighten.  It was simple sounding but was challenging to have to execute.  He took the time to explain what he was going to do and drew it out first.My husband also go a piece done.  He articulated what he wanted to Peewee and it was executed above and beyond expectations.  He's meticulous, efficient, organized and also funny (bonus!)The shop itself is kept very clean and organized as well.  Everyone is friendly and seems to love being there.  You won't be disappointed coming here... I came in to get my tattoo retouched. I got it done somewhere else and the lady messed it up. She left me with a tattoo that had big and small circles, when they're all supposed to be the same size. From the moment I walked in, I felt completely comfortable at Lark. It was completely clean, aesthetically pleasing and the staff who greeted me were all very nice. I was interested in getting my mid cartilage pierced, but was a little nervous about it. Matt Cohen spoke to me for about a half an hour about the process and he answered all my questions thoroughly and professionally. I didn't feel pressured AT ALL. I decided to go ahead with the piercing. In the chair he could tell I was tense by my body language and he told me to relax and put my arms down and breathe. His knowledge and temperament really made my experience calm and enjoyable. Before I knew it, my piercing was done! He was fast, and efficient and my piercing looks great. This place is awesome, definitely not your regular tattoo and piercing parlor. Very clean and staffed with very knowledgeable, helpful and kind individuals. The decor is so nice, almost makes you forget about how much pain you will be in depending on what your planning to get done. i was recommended by someone to check out this place. looked at their website etc. and decided to drive out there to give it a shot. when i got there, i was greeted nicely, and looked around... very clean place and bright. then i went to the front desk guy and asked some questions. within minutes he talked to the artist and recommended 1 to me. i then talked to the artis (brian) who asked me what i wanted and how etc. and booked my appointment. left my deposit and waited about 3 weeks. 3 weeks came, apparently they double booked my day b/c coincidentally there were 2 people of my name for the same day, but they went with me first anyways. this being my first tattoo i was a bit scared, but all in all it was fine. as 3 hrs go by... im finally done and im very satisfied. all in all i'd go there again, but now im in the process of thinking of what to get next. def recommend this place to everyone. I came to Lark Tattoo because I knew one of the guys there and he recommended me to check it out. I was excited because I wanted to get a tattoo for awhile. When I got inside, the lady at the counter didn't even greet me and just stared at her computer, eating her food. I thought ok I'll just look around, then I realized she wasn't even paying attention, so I went up to her and showed her a picture I was interested in getting a tattoo of. Her first statement, "" What is that?!...and you want what kind of colors? ew."" I was somewhat shocked since this is a place where it's dedicated to tattoos and I get that statement. I told her what it was and I wanted it smaller since the picture was huge, she said I don't think so, let me see. Shows it to a tattoo artists, thinking they were talking about my tattoo, SHE SAYS HI TO HIM, comes back and says sorry we can't make it smaller. Just terrible customer service right there. I bet the tattoo artists must be good since it's pretty well known, but I hope that girl gets fired because she will not help making any business to them. Read Less
