I had a very negative experience getting a piercing here. First of all, I walked in, and there was rap music blasting, and I mean blasting, with the lyrics "I don't give a f***, I don't give a f***, I don't I don't I don't give a f**" (Big Sean, if you care to look it up). Now, I am no stranger to rap music, swearing, or loud music, but in this instance it was extremely unprofessional. The shop was otherwise empty. I came up to the desk and I think he started talking to me, but I couldn't tell you what he said. Before you ask why I didn't simply ask him to turn the music down or off, 1) I shouldn't have to; 2) I am a very passive and socially anxious person and I was nervous. He went to wash his hands in the sink, dried them with paper towels, and then brought me back to a tiny, cramped space. I don't remember him putting on gloves, but he must have, right? He didn't say much, didn't tell me what he was doing or why, or tell me what to expect. Even if he had, I'm not sure I would have heard him over the music. Suddenly there was terrible pain and a lot of blood. He was done. I was left trying to mop up the blood with paper towels while he wandered over to the desk, clearly wanting to get me out of there so he could leave for the day. The whole thing felt very rushed. I paid while I held bloody paper towels to my new wound, and he handed me an aftercare sheet, while he gave me some verbal instructions that I couldn't really hear. I left, still bleeding with the bloody paper towels, feeling a little traumatized. I had gotten a piercing elsewhere before (though I let it close up a while ago and he didn't know about it), so I remembered some of what to expect, thank God, but imagine if I had been a complete newbie! It's possible that they do great tattoos, but I would never come for a piercing again. Especially not with "D-Mon."

I got a tattoo done here by David on a walk-in. He was great, and the tattoo turned out awesome. This place is a little hole in the wall, but you can tell it's run professionally. Permits are displayed clearly on the walls, and David took care to make sure his workspace and everything that came in contact with my tattoo was sterile. Great experience, and I hope to come back again!

Good-great customer service and accommodations, clean and professional equipment. Knowledge staff, more knowledgeable about the small details than anyone I've ever dealt with before.

I have nothing but the highest of praise for Platinum Ink! I went in a couple weeks ago to get my nipples pierced. I should've written a review right after because I was very please with the service and the shop's general environment. Varick, the shop's Owner and resident piercer, walked me through the process before and during and was very professional through the whole event. He even sent me home with epsom salt for the daily soaks. I did have to go back today to get longer bars because the ball of the right barbell was being pulled in because I have flat nipples and they relax a lot wider than when erect. Varick assured me that this happens and switched them out very quickly and virtually painlessly. I would definitely recommend everyone to check them out. I know I can't wait to go back for some ink! Thank you again, Varick!!

I should've written a review right after because I was very please with the service and the shop's clean environment. Platinum Ink is definitely my first choice for piercings. I got my first ""real"" piercing from Varick a few years ago, and my last two from Kris within the last year. They're both incredibly friendly and well versed, the shop is impeccably clean, they have a fine array of body jewelry you can purchase, and they make it a point to assure you safety and comfort at all times. They provide a sterile environment with a welcoming atmosphere, I know exactly what to expect every time I enter, and I'm never disappointed. It's a gem of Downtown Troy.

Excellent! This is one of my favorite places in downtown Troy. The staff is professional and the shop is sparkling.I have a number of pieces from various artists around the area and country. Platinum Ink has become my favorite shop and my go to place to get new tattoos.You have many options for getting tattoos in the Capital District, that being said I would highly recommend the staff at Platinum Ink simply because they are the best, they are my favorites.

Varick was wonderful in helping me customize a design that not only fit what I was asking for but worked with my body as well. Initially got piercing work done at Miss Dixie's on Hill St. by their new piercer, Carlos. It was a BOTCHED JOB. So I sought out a second opinion. Varick, owner and piercer at PLATNIUM INK gave me EXPERTISE information. He was very knowledgeable about the anatomy of the body and placement of the piercings. I lost my money at Miss Dixie's so I asked Varick if he will fix the botched job and he said YES with no problem. When I asked the cost, it was HALF the price of the poor job I got done before. Varick is very knowledgeable. The shop is CLEAN and PROFESSIONAL. The employees are professional and helpful. I trust them. I will be going back in a month to get my piercing done the RIGHT WAY by Varick :) I am so excited! I wish I would have went there FIRST! I will post pics in a few weeks! I already know it will be PERFECT!!!

Looking to get tattooed.. sick of the walkin in somewhere wanting one thing then letting the artist completely change your idea so you think you love it... well Tattoos are forever... I mmyself have been in the Chair atleast 40 times and been tattooed by some of the best Artist in the area, but have met a few rockstars who are just for the money not for the art... at Platinum Ink you dont get a rockstar you get Artists who love tattooing and actually treat you as a person rather than theyre personal billboard or paycheck... Ive been.getting Tattooed by Varick for a couple years now and honestly dont think ill be changing that anytime soon but if so Dallas who also is an Artist of Platinum Ink is awesome as well ive seen some of his work and its better than most ive seen from other artist out here but what Ive got to admitt I like most you walk in they know.who you are and your more than a tattoo your a guest of the shop.. no akward staring or trying to sell you a tattoo you dont

I had a very negative experience getting a piercing here. First of all, I walked in, and there was rap music blasting, and I mean blasting, with the lyrics "I don't give a f***, I don't give a f***, I don't I don't I don't give a f**" (Big Sean, if you care to look it up). I got a tattoo done here by David on a walk-in. He was great, and the tattoo turned out awesome. This place is a little hole in the wall, but you can tell it's run professionally. Permits are displayed clearly on the walls, and David took care to make sure his workspace and everything that came in contact with my tattoo was sterile. Platinum Ink is definitely my first choice for piercings. I got my first ""real"" piercing from Varick a few years ago, and my last two from Kris within the last year. They're both incredibly friendly and well versed, the shop is impeccably clean, they have a fine array of body jewelry you can purchase, and they make it a point to assure you safety and comfort at all times. I got my very first tattoo done on Wednesday and I couldn't be happier with the design and outcome. Varick was wonderful in helping me customize a design that not only fit what I was asking for but worked with my body as well.
