First time I went to Jess was for a cover up about 5 years ago. Since then I haven't been to another tattoo artist. I am covered now. Not only is she the best tattoo artist in the capital region, she became a friend. The studio is somewhere I enjoy being. I randomly stop in to keep in touch. I came here after doing research into many tattoo shops in the area. Nick was my tattoo artist. He was booked for over a month, which was a great sign. When I was 18 I picked this terrible tattoo off the wall and had it on my back and wanted it covered up. I told Nick what I wanted, showed him some cartoons I drew, but wanted it in an art style I wasn't capable of drawing. Nick designed the tattoo far better than I could have ever imagined and I am very very picky. He was able to cover the other tattoo and you would never know it was a coverup unless I told you. Even my Mom who HATES tattoos said "I have to admit this is pretty cool." I would highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is great. The other artists working were extremely friendly as well. Carlos the piercer there is an amateur!! First of all, I was given paperwork to sign and no one explained anything to me. I realized I signed a contract that frees the liability of the piercer and dismisses the option for a refund. Carlos was not even there when I arrived for my appointment. He OVERCHARGED me for my piercing and then messed it up at that! Didn't see how bad it was until I got home because when he was done, he quickly patched it up with PAPER TOWEL and told me to leave it for an hour or so. He did not explain anything, didn't talk to me about the piercing, aftercare or anything. He didn't allow me to approve the placement of the piercing. The whole process was rushed and it was a HORRIBLE experience!!!!! It was crooked and done VERY POORLY!! I got a second opinion from another tattoo shop and they informed me that the piercing iss placed poorly. I asked them how much they would charge to do it over and they gave me HALF the price CARLOS charged me. Mind you, Carlos doesn't have his own space. You are pierced on a pull out table and there is NO PRIVACY whatsoever. The job was rushed and unprofessional. I am so disappointed. I lost a lot of money with an AMATEUR PIERCER who claims to have 15 years under their belt. STAY AWAY FROM THE PIERCER AT MISS DIXIE'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
