I chose this location after reviewing different yelp reviews to have my first tattoo and had John complete the work. I have a large back tattoo that took two visits to complete.  I found the place to be clean, welcoming and professional. Although, the pain was way more prevalent then I imagined it to be especially, when he was inking my spine, I was able to still get through it.Initially, I went into the shop and met with John and he asked me to send him an email with some pictures and ideas about what I wanted. I completed the task and sent him my ideas however, I never heard back from him. As a result, I sent him a few more follow up email eventually, we were able to get in the same page and I had no further problems.Since this was my first tattoo, he recommended that we take multiple sessions however, I was eager to complete this in one visit, this was a mistake. I was only able to complete the outline before I needed a break and we decided to schedule a second session to fill the tattoo in. After my first session, I felt an euphoric high after I got off the table. During my session session, there was no high feeling instead it felt like I was being poked by a thousand needles. John was patient with me gripping on for dear life especially, when we has inking over my spine. I was able to complete about 90 percent when I told him that we would need to turn it into a third session or leave the rest unfilled. I initially went to Ultimate to get a septum piercing, but Tony decided that my nose wasn't optimal for that particular kind of piercing. I really appreciated him letting me know that it probably wasn't going to have the best placement because of the amount of tissue in my nose; rather than piercing it and having it look awful! He's very thorough with his work, and he wants everything to look as good as possible. I ended up deciding to get a regular nose piercing instead, and I couldn't be happier! He was very calming and relaxed, which helped me to not feel nervous! He was so good I barely even felt a pinch! I wouldn't recommend any other place in Rochester other than Ultimate; and Tony too! Went to get my conch pierced (the one will the little ball in the hoop) and Tim was very sweet. It was my first time there and he made sure that I liked the jewelry, liked the location, and walked me through the whole process to make it easy and relatively pain free 😅. I had a bit of a horror story at the place I got my septum pierced (not this place!!) so I was extremely nervous to come here to get my septum jewelry switched out. It has been 4 months since I had my septum pierced and was ready to get a circular barbell "horseshoe" that I could easily rotate to hide that I had a piercing at all (I am a nursing student and cannot have piercings- very behind the times, IK!) My original septum piercing experience 4 months ago was filled with cold sweats, almost throwing up or passing out and having to get it pierced TWICE because it wasn't straight??? It was horrible. Then the ring he put in was too small so I had to come in the next day to get it switched out to a larger diameter ring- more cold sweats and almost passing out... rough!!So you can see why I was extremely nervous/ preparing to almost pass out again.My experience here was nothing far from fantastic and stress free!!!Price: $15 all together including the circular barbell and $5 placing fee! I am pretty sure he said the piece of jewelry was $11 or $12, but he only charged me $10! He was so kind!Professionalism: The man who switched my jewelry out was kind and didn't roll his eyes at all my questions but rather reassured me at all times. At one point after putting my septum ring in he realized he needed the little ball holder contraption- he got it and came back quick and set it all up, he apologized for the delay (I thought nothing of it- this place was heaven compared to the first place I went to!). He was so kind and considerate! He was great in telling me what he would do before he did it- very appreciated! Environment: the place is cleanly, spacious, couches to sit on while you wait and comfyyyyy seats to sit on while being worked on. The other place I went to had a stool that was hard and slippery. This place has a big long foamed leather table to sit on the edge of at perfect height for him to work and comfort for the client. The actual jewelry change process: It hurt for a split second, but was clear sailing for the rest! He was fast and gentle! He even warned me that I might feel some painful tugging while he put the ball on, but it didn't hurt at all! Overall: this experience blew me away and calmed my fears of piercings because of my last horror experience! I will come here again for any piercings! Read Less

Where to start? I called the same day I wanted my piercing and they fit me right in.I had Elizabeth. She was absolutely incredible. I got my daith pierced and she was very knowledgable and helpful in aiding my in making my jewelry selections.I was by myself and thus I was pretty damn nervous to have the procedure. But she was very reassuring.It really did not hurt at all. It's been almost 24 hours, and I don't even notice it (unless I mistakenly put my earbuds in which I've done a few times-ouch!)On a whim I asked her about my navel- I had had it pierced, but removed the jewelry a few years ago.She graciously made the time to look at it-and it was still pierced! So I picked out a barbell and she "tethered" it for me to be able to fit the gauge.I literally could not be happier with the service I received. I've never been especially impressed with the jewelry stock or the level of service offered by the owner. She seems pretty arrogant to me honestly. Only once did I risk it and ask her to change a piece of jewelry for me, and I got the impression that she has no idea what she is doing. What should have been a few minutes took fifteen, and she made me bleed. NEVER again.In my opinion, the only thing that saves this place is Shawn Conn. Shawn is a sensational tattoo artist. He's been doing his thing for a long time, and it absolutely shows in his work. Shawn is a beautiful human being all around. I first got tattooed by him when I was around 19 or 20 years old. He's always been honest and forthcoming with his opinions about my tattoo ideas, but is respectful and kind if he needs to nix something for technical reasons. Most recently, I commissioned a digital painting from him for my boyfriend's birthday. He communicated openly and regularly about the subject matter, sent multiple drafts for approval and made changes happily. The entire process was timely and affordable. The finished product exceeded my expectations. Shawn would get five stars from me, while everything else about this place would get one. I split the difference at three stars for this review, because Shawn Conn is a treasure and getting work done by him as an absolute privilege. Read Less

Best place for piercings and tattoos, period! Everything is very clean and professional. Needles are single use, and the artists always wear gloves. Jewelry is sterilized, floors are vacuumed, and the staff is just a lovely group of people. Giancarlo did my wrist tattoo and it looks fantastic. Tony has done all my piercings (two conch, two tragus, microdermal, and eyebrow) and was always very courteous. Will be visiting again! Read Less

I've had almost all of my tattoo work done here and have recommended several other people to go here as well. When I first showed up with my ink concept the original artist I thought I wanted to have do it recommended another person there because they were better suited to that style. I was apprehensive at first but I'm very happy with the recommendation. It came out amazing. The shop is very clean and the staff is incredibly professional. This isn't a shop where the artists have elitist attitudes or make you feel like an idiot when going in for your first tattoo.  They are very informative and helpful. Read Less
