My review for this place went from a 5 to a 2. The first time my husband and I went was a wonderful experience. My husband had a beautiful tattoo done of dog tags with both of our sons names and birthdays on his inside bicep by Bri. I had Korean writing done on my forearm. Both of the artists were very friendly and professional. However, once my arm healed I noticed that there were gaps in the lettering that weren't filled in completely. Even with this happening I was still willing to go back for more work. Things happen and I was understanding of this. Flash forward to about a year or less.I went in to schedule my next appointment and ask to have my previous tattoo filled in. Ben very nicely let me know that since it had been so long that I would have to pay to touch up my first tattoo but that they would give me a discount on it since I would be getting more work done. I was very understanding of this and made the appt and deposit. I scheduled my appt with Ben Wight (per friends with positive feedback) for about a month in a half later (his first available appt). A day before my appt they called and canceled on me. Disappointed but not overly upset, I rescheduled for the next available appt that was about a month later. Since I've seen the beautiful work that Ben has done, I was willing to wait. My rescheduled appt was on a Tuesday at 4pm. On the Sunday of that week I had a close family member pass away and learned of the funeral arrangements that same night. The person that passed away was expected to pass soon so all arrangements were made ahead of time which is why the funeral was put in place so quickly. I called on Monday and they were closed. Therefor I called them on Tue at 12:04 pm, right as they opened at noon. I explained my situation to JJ the receptionist and this is where things went sour for me.When talking to JJ,  she was very rude by cutting me off, talking quickly and (in my opinion) you could hear in her voice that she was getting annoyed with me. She said that I would lose my $60 deposit and that I would need to make another $60 payment to make another appt. When she was explaining this she was talking so quickly that I couldn't really understand what she was saying, when I asked for clarification this is when she started to sound annoyed. I explained my situation and that they canceled on me once already and if they would make an exception. She cut me off and said a firm no and that this was their policy. I decided to just bite the bullet and make another appt. and deposit. My issue wasn't necessarily the policy but her attitude. She was so rude to me that I actually called her back and asked if I could speak to the owner (Ben Wight) myself and let her know that I felt she was very rude and harsh to me on the phone. While I was talking she cleared her voice in what sounded to me as more annoyance. When I pointed this out she said she was taking her Advil...she obviously was not feeling well or hungover and it showed through her poor customer service. I let her know that I didn't even have time to give them 48 hrs notice since the death just happened on a Sunday and I even offered to provide the obituary. She said she would talk to Ben and then call me back. My issue is not necessarily with their policy. It is my fault for not knowing they had a 48 hr cancellation fee, although I do not remember them telling my of their cancellation fee but they probably did and I don't remember. Had I known I would have called and left a message on Sunday night. My main issue was that she wasn't even willing to try and listen to my reasoning for a consideration of an exception. I was willing to continue service with them after a tattoo was not completely filled in, willing to pay to have it fixed, purchased a gift certificate for $150 for further work to be done, willing to reschedule a month later after they canceled the day before my original appt and then yet they weren't even willing to waive the $60 original deposit for a reschedule (not a cancellation) for a funeral of a death that happened just 48 hours prior? At this point I feel uncomfortable going to a place with such a rude staff member. If I had completely canceled and had not been waiting several months to receive this tattoo then I would be understanding and if the receptionist was kinder and more understanding in her explanation then I probably wouldn't be feeling so disappointed. At this point I have to wait for their response but I have a feeling that I will be out $210 (including $150 gift certificate) with no ink to show for it, which is very unfortunate because my original experience was so wonderful. Ben Wight is my guy! He always knows exactly what i want and his work is impeccable. He always exceeds my expectations . People stop me all the time to compliment my ink and ask where i go . I've been going to Ben for years and have always left very happy with my new ink. Beautiful shop, the whole staff is friendly. Atmosphere and vibe is super chill . My boyfriend came here for the 'Get what you get' tattoo - you pay $80 to get a token to a kind of gum-ball machine that has little capsules inside of it, each capsule containing a different tattoo design. Basically you put your token in, get a capsule, and that's the tattoo you're going to get somewhere on your body! You can pay $20 for another token if you don't like the design you got, but once you open a new capsule with a new design, you can't go back to your original design. The tattoo artists worked with him really well to adapt the design a bit to what he wanted, which involved removing a part of the original design. You could get the tattoo any size you wanted, and for paying only $8- for a tattoo the size of your hand with fingers spread wide, I'd say that's a great deal! IT IS AN AWESOME AND CLEAN SHOP!! Bri did my furr baby tattoo, she is AMAZING! I would highly recommend going to the shop, and get a tattoo by Bri!! This tattoo is my 10th tattoo, and by far my best experience being tattooed. I have been tattooed in Ithaca NY, Binghamton NY, Fairport NY, and Austin TX.. and I had the BEST experience at Pyramid Arts Tattoo! Looked up best tattoo places in Rochester, this one was on the top 10. Look at their work online and it matched what I was looking for. I went with Brianna and I'm so glad I did! I have her a synopsis of what I was looking for, she drew it up perfectly. She allowed me to make an changes I wanted and asked me every step of the way if I'd like to add more or keep as is. She made my tattoo dreams come to life!Only reason I gave 4 stars would be due to the atmosphere. The professionalism could be better, but it is a tattoo shop so what do you expect. I would have wished for the other artists to be more friendly with good costumer service. I came in and no one said anything to me for a solid couple minutes until the receptionist noticed I was there waiting. After years of looking for the right shop this is it for me. Every artist is incredible and the vibe in the shop is my favorite part. Clean, beautiful and lots of open space. If you're looking for your first tattoo or a seasoned collector this is the place to go. I have been tattooed multiple times by both Ben Wight and Ben Waara. His shop is attractive, clean, modern and staffed with the most personable and professional artists. I get tattooed by Ben Pretty much exclusively but would trust any of the other artist in the shop to do a great job. The hourly rate is reasonable and the work is amongst the best, if not the best in the city. I would definitely recommend getting tattooed at this shop for whatever idea you have in mind- they have someone there who will execute it beautifully. Read Less

Lea is amazing, I wanted a memorial tattoo for my dad, showed her a picture of his tambourine- and the work of art she created from that one picture was more beautiful than I ever could have imagined! She was able to accommodate both my niece and I who were getting the same tattoo on the same afternoon. It was my nieces first tattoo and Lea made her feel super comfortable.
