This guy Devin who runs the place is an asshole. He tattooed a friend of mine who signed a waver that he won't tattoo you if you're intoxicated, yet he tattooed him anyway, collected his cash, and then called the police on him. What an asshole. Plus the tattoo was positioned right. Maybe it was his way of getting back at a person that had a drink since he's a straight edge? Either way the guy is a dick and not much of an artist. I would recommend staying away and choosing another tattoo polar where the artists are friendly and aren't NARC's. For a guy that is a straight edge, he certainly has a identify crisis. Tripple XXX tattoos, long dreads, glasses like the singer of Weezer, and talks like he's some intellectual. Of and the pin head girlfriend. The world has always been sort of an algorithm for me, so short of coloring in a coloring book there isn't a bit of creativity in me. I wasn't able to steer Shaun in the right direction, and even worse I was withholding the story behind the reason I'd actually decided to get the tattoo. The end result was AMAZING!!! People ask to see what's on my shoulder and there's always an audible "WOW THAT'S AMAZING" followed by where I'd gotten it. I don't know if I caught Devin on a bad day or if al the bad reviews get deleted but my experience was horrible. I went in to get my cartilage pierced and Devin was not friendly, did not ask where on my cartilage I wanted the piercing nor did he mark it out before completely it. He simply shoved a needle through my ear (at the wrong angle) and told me I was done. I barely received any aftercare instructions either. I was going to look into getting my nipples pierced as well but after that experience I will never go there for anything ever again. Black Cherry in Lagrangeville is amazing. Don't go here. Shaun L. Smith is AMAZING. Shaun has been my tattoo artist for over 7 years now and his skill and professionalism is exemplary. All the work that Shaun has done has reaped a million compliments over the years. People actually stop me on the street to take pictures of my tattoos and ask who my artist is. I live in Long Beach, CA now and fly back to see Shaun for work. He's that good.  The shop is very clean, very private, and the owner Devin is an awesome guy, too. I feel very comfortable here in various states of exposed while being worked on. I get great advice on how to care for  my ink. All the tattoos Shaun has helped me design and done custom fittings for the shape of my body specifically. No flash!
