Have had 2 piercings done here. The staff is friendly and professional, the rooms are clean and sterile (Like Dr's offices). Rob is the BEST!   He explained what was going on, demo'd the after care. and the piercings are exactly what I wanted.  He also encouraged to call if I had any questions or needed any further info.  I am very happy and satisfied.   Don't know if I'll get any more, but if I do, this is my first and only choice of places to go. I never thought i would ever get a piercing done, but today i went for it, because i realized that im only living once, so why not haha. Very expensive however the gentleman who helped me with my jewelry and re piercing was sweet. I thought it was bright to wear makeup and change my nose ring before it's time. I had gone to some other place in miami they are good but I changed the ring too early. Being that I wear a lot of makeup that didn't help with the healing process so finally decided to go to a professional for quality metal and not only did he help me when I went to change the ring he had to re pierce it, that ish hurt!!! These guys are AMAZING! So anyone whining about this fabulous place, complaining about the store not wrapping items up properly etc... puhleeze! Get over yourself... Expensive? Not at all! This is NY kids... all items are gold or white gold (no silver) and really excellent quality products. The service is first class too!I popped into the store on Ave A, which was extremely busy, late one Saturday afternoon. The staff were so helpful! They listened to my concerns about 'losing a nose stud on a regular basis' - and the lovely gentleman behind the display and till (whose name I am going to get the next time I go in - because I am going back!) was so helpful! He found me a beautiful white gold paisley stud, which goes into the hole from inside the nose and screws on top.Tobias took care of the fitting for me, and the stud is still secure and sitting pretty over a month later. Tobias talked me through the fitting, cleaning the stud and the piercing before placing the stud perfectly into the hole. It had been a while since I had a nose stud in the piercing, so he checked that the whole was still open (which it was) and made me feel beyond comfortable as I lay there and he got the stud in just the perfect position for me. The store is spotless, cleanliness like I have never seen before! The staff were exceptionally professional, it's obvious they know exactly what they are doing. I've had several tattoos and piercings (in several places around the World) and I have to say, I'd definitely go back to Venus based on the extremely hygienic conditions and the welcoming, accommodating, friendly and very helpful staff.Prices are more than fair, the jewelry is a little different to most places as it has an interesting edge and is really great quality work.See you soon Venus! I have three piercings (a daith, rook, and tragus) that were done here by the very capable Rob, and they are all amazing. They healed quicker than piercings I got elsewhere, with no bumps or complications. Incredibly happy with the piercing service.Jewelry can be kinda expensive, but it's quality stuff. I've gone to Venus a few times to check out their wares and have bought a few items from the shop on the west side. The last few times I was  at the ave A location I noticed a pair of feather and bone earrings that I really wanted to have. I went in today to  finally purchase, and made my way home. The earrings were supposedly wrapped carefully inside a tissue and placed in a venus bag.I  left the store and then put the entire bag into my oversized zip up purse for safe keeping. I never took the bag out of my purse until i got home.my purse is really big so there was plenty of room for safe keeping. I infact folded the venus bag around itself so that it would sit secure. Hours later when i got home from errand running and excited to try on my new earrings,  for a big event i had the next day, i discovered that there was only one earring in the bag.Since I did not watch them being wrapped( i was looking at their clothing while that was going on) I thought I had made a mistake and misunderstood that the 68.00 i paid was for one and not two and so I called Venus. The gentleman who answered the phone, said that they were both wrapped in the tissue and that the 68.00 was for the pair. I  frantically exclaimed that there was only 1, and I was really upset. He said he had to check w/ his manager.  called me about an hour later and left a  message saying that once the jewelry leaves the store there is nothing they can do, if it gets lost.if they were  in the tissue it means they were wrapped loosely and very haphazardly, as if a feather falls out of a bag you wont hear it, and Venus should take better precautions for high end stuff ( like maybe tape or a box). ----------UPDATE: a few hours after this review went live the manager of venus contacted me w/really kind words and offered me a refund, as long as i returned the lone earring, which i did. they were very,very nice to me when i went to pick up my refund.no hard feelings, i will definitely continue to shop with them.They really do care about their customers. I go here for all of my piercings and tattoos. Ben, the piercer, is such a sweetheart and will even help you maintain care of your piercings afterword if anything gets tricky. He even cleaned a few of the piercings I had gotten at other places that weren't done as well even though it wasn't his work. Alex, the tattoo artist, is so kind and amazing at what he does. He is incredibly detail oriented, careful, and will make sure that whatever you get done is everything you wanted and more. He also gives a lifetime guarantee for his work, so he'll touch it up as it ages. He's remarkably skilled at revitalizing old ink as well. I have been looking for a piercer who was quick and clean. I came across the last review where Rob was mentioned to be fast and painless. I couldn't have chosen a better place to get my nose peirced. The experience was amazing, waited just about everything was fresh out its package. He showed me two of the his best opinions for a spot on my nose. I went with the sec dot. He had me lay down told me what he was going to do so there were no surprises. Took a deep breath in and out and that was it. It was done. He literally did the entire pricing in like 3 sec. On a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 1. I didn't feel anything other then when he cleaned it. Best piercing experience ever. Got my lip and nose pierced here (same time) by Rob. It couldn't have been an easier or faster experience. The shop was really cool with ordering titanium for me because I have a serious nickel allergy that even some surgical steel can set off (shady manufacturers :P ) and Rob knew his stuff. The place was super clean and Rob made sure I was good with the placement of the piercings since placement is important for a piercing to look good on someone's face. And the aseptic technique was flawless. I've heard nostril piercings can be a pain to heal, but both mine healed fantastically right on schedule and I got some lovely jewelry there. The staff is so friendly and helpful. My artist Alex drew out my tattoo and explained best placement.  He even explains how he would put each of the colors. He made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process.  Alex is quite professional and extremely knowledgeable on tattooing. I cannot wait to get my next tattoo from Alex at Venus body arts. My friend and I came here to get tattooed together. Just two small, simple tattoos. Easy enough, right? Wrong. We get there and not only was the staff rude to us, but both of our tattoos got royally screwed up.I've been tattooed twice before, both large, detailed pieces (at other locations obviously...), so I know how a tattooing experience is supposed to go. I immediately noticed that something wasn't right this time because both my friend and I bled lot for such small tattoos. The guy really cut into our skin. Not only did it take my tiny, *2 centimeter* tat FOREVER to heal, but it bled into the surrounding area. Now I have a stupid, blown out visible tat on my arm that needs to be fixed. And I sure as hell am NOT coming back to this place to get it done... This was my third tattoo. I feel horrible for my friend because it was her first, and to have such a bad experience for her first time getting inked is such a shame... Only positive is it's super clean. That's it. Read Less

I went there with my 11 year old daughter to have her ears pierced.   It was a great experience.  They were very professional and did a wonderful job.  My daughter, despite having begged me for years to get her ears pierced, was very nervous.  The piercer, Rob, was very gentle with her and helped her to feel relaxed.  He was even patient as we tried to FaceTime her father her was home sick.  He didn't rush us and was very calming.  My daughter thought he was great and declared that when she's older she;ll return and have him do all her piercings (She already told me she wants to get a nose ring and possibly a few more in her ears when she's old "enough")..I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get piercings and to anyone who has a nervous child. It seems that there's a common formula most tattoo and piercing studios follow: a tight space with a grungy feel, walls crammed with lots of cliche example tattoos and someone getting inked in the back. Venus Body Arts defies this with their clean and almost minimalist shop. When you walk in it feels like a nicely lit jewelry store / boutique. It's minimal and organized. I was actually confused for a moment.I went in to ask lots of research questions about a very simple piercing. Every question was addressed in a friendly and not (as per the cliche norm) in a surly disinterested way. Though my original intent was to only ask questions, the helpfulness and friendly demeanor made me get the piercing on the spot. Within a short time I was sitting in what looked like an exam room at a doctor's office - private, clean, comforting. The process was explained one more time and after more patient planning and trial placement I was done.I'm not a seasoned piercing and tattoo veteran myself but I've been to many shops with friends for emotional or creative support. This is by far the most friendly shop I've been to. Next time I need more work, I'll be back at Venus Body Arts. Read Less

I've been a customer of the other location, Venus by Maria Tash, for several years, and kept forgetting they have two spots. I wandered into Venus Body Arts looking for the thinnest, smallest ring for my nostril piercing I could find, and was successful. I talked for a long time with the very nice guy who greeted me (I'm so terrible with names I've forgotten his. What a shame.). I like that this location's focus is piercing and tattooing, and the space is clean and sparsely furnished.I believe either location is the best place for jewelry. And the staff is really great in helping you find exactly what you're looking for. Rob, the Efficient PiercerLooking to get my nose pierced, I reached out to a few piercing/tattoo parlors a few months ago and although Rob got back to me within a few hours, I hesitated because my skin has a tendency to keloid and the middle of your face is not the place to be left with a noticeable scar.  Fast forward to a few days ago, I decided to just get it done.  I called Venus and ran my concerns by Joe once again who reassured me that with proper aftercare, it should be fine and said I stop by any time before closing.The shop:It's very clean and Spartan on the furnishing which I prefer -- less distractions. They do have a rack of clothing off to the side which I found interesting. Perhaps due to the inclement weather, the staff was Joe (front desk), Rob (piercings) and another dread-headed fellow (tattoo). The front of the store houses their jewelry selection and the back which ins't visible from the waiting area contains various rooms/ stations.Customer service:Joe was handling another client when I arrived and once he wrapped up with him, he patiently answered all my questions and showed me the jewelry based on my preferences.  I'm not a big fan of gold so I came in wanting a silver nose screw.  Joe explained that they don't use silver or surgical steel for the initial piece but I had the option to swap out another piece after the suggested 6 month healing period.  6 months seems generous for such a small stud but I think they tend to err on the cautious side, again, fine with me.  I wound up choosing a straight white gold 19 guage bar which would be bent later. Signed the waivers while the room was being prepped (about 5 minutes).  The wait time was perfect since I went alone since it didn't give me enough time to back out or over-think.The piercing:Rob was super chill. He sterilized the area and we played around with the marked spot.  While trying to find the perfect spot, he explained the aesthetic reasons for not going too high, too forward, too low.  That was super helpful.  He's also had issues with keloiding so that empathy was extremely reassuring.  He showed me the fresh tools and told me when to breathe.  Honestly, having blood drawn at the hospital was more painful.  I've heard people talk about tearing up but Rob must be pretty good at what he does because nothing happened.** From the front door to the bathroom, the entire shop is SUPER-CLEAN which you should never take for granted.Overall:I ultimately like the final result, it's the size I want in the exact spot I wanted it.  The service ($30) and jewelry ($45) may seem a bit steep but you get what you pay for.  It's not some shopping mall job.  If I thought I might pierce something else, I would be back in a heartbeat.  They also do a one month follow up. Logan, or The Master as I call him is a true artist. His work is original, realistic and completely customized for not only your body, and body placement, but he through conversation and taking the time in getting to know a bit about you, he incorporates who you are in the art as well. He has done all four of my tattoos. The fourth was quite extensive; 20+ hours over 4 sessions. I absolutely LOVE my art. I would not trust anyone else to work on me. He has got me hooked! Read Less

While I haven't had any piercings done at this shop, I have to say as far as tattoo artists go, Logan Aguilar is absolutely amazing. I recently went to him to get my first tattoo and was looking for something realistic, colorful, and original. If you're looking for a quick pick from a handout of pre-drawn tattoos, go elsewhere, because this man is a true artist. I got it on one of the supposedly most painful spots (side ribcage) and not only was he gentle, but I felt completely at ease. The hour I spent there felt like 15 minutes. He listened to everything I wanted and gave me a one of a kind, beautiful piece that I know I'll love forever. About a week after getting it done, I was interested in having him add to a few spots and he booked me a new appointment within a week. The shop is extremely sanitary and has a relaxed vibe. The rest of the staff I encountered were extremely helpful and friendly and made me not only feel at ease but excited as well. If you're looking for a great experience, whether it's your first tattoo or your fiftieth, Logan is hands down the man to go to. Read Less

This small shop tucked away on East 4th Street in the East Village is a gem. The atmosphere is comfortable and the shop is impeccably clean. I first when to Venus to have Logan Aguilar do a repair on a tattoo. The results were amazing. Logan has a great personality and is very in touch with how you are feeling when getting inked. When talking with him about my next piece he ""got"" what I wanted and showed me an example of his vision. When it was finished it was just what I wanted, the way I wanted it. I also had a tragus piercing done by Rob at Venus. His room is sanitary and spotless. The jewelry he uses is gorgeous - precious metals with precious stones. Rob is quick and makes the piercing as painless as possible. Venus is a great place for ink or piercing. I have been going to Venus Modern Body Arts for my piercing needs for the last three or four years. It was on one of those visits that I met Logan Aguilar, who is an amazing artist. I have wanted a tattoo for years, but, being diagnosed with diabetes I thought I would have to go without it. After talking with Logan more than a few times, I realized that I could actually get one done. We scheduled a seating and I had to postpone it because of health reasons. Logan was very understading and we were able to reschedule the seating. I finally got my tattoo and must say I LOVE IT. Logan was very patient and extremely gentle. He made sure I had eaten prior to the tattoo and also made sure I had something with me to eat with me while he worked. He asked more than a few times how I was feeling and even encouraged me to pop a snack to avoid low blood sugar issues. I did ask him to stop once so I could pop a snack and drink some water, he had no problem allowing me the break. It was this caring attitude and attention to detail that made me decide that I would have to get another tattoo by him even before he was finished with my first one. Logan YOU TOTALLY ROCK!! Venus is the best body modification shop around. I live in Boston, and come all the way down for tattoos by Logan Aguilar. I'm sad to say we just finished my rib piece of 3 huge roses, so I'm going to have to brainstorm for my next. He is the only artist I will let work on my body. Although I'm a fan of needles, I don't have many piercings. I got a botch belly button ring from a horrible place, and it turned into a staph infection. Rob removed the ring for me, taught me how to heal it, and once it was better, re-pierced it for me. It looks awesome now. All the guys are great at Venus, if I lived closer, I would stop by on a regular basis. I definitely recommend this shop, Logan and Rob. I have and will continue to bring friends here for work. I got my first tattoo - ever - done by Ralph. Not only did he make it perfect, but somehow it didn't hurt either. It was exactly what I imagined; I loved it so much, I went back for another from him. This time I got one of his Taino symbols. He re-sized it twice until it was the perfect size and then he completed it perfectly. -- I'll be going back for a third. Rafael was the best tattoo artist I could have imagined to do my tattoo. This was my first tattoo, and I was freaked out. Rafael was totally calm the whole time, and I felt that I could leave at any point if I decided to bail out-- but I didn't. He helped me size the tattoo and place it perfectly, so it is small and discreet but beautiful. It was clear that he knew what he was doing, and everything was clean and explained through. I love my tattoo, Rafael prepped me on everything to expect getting it and how to care for it. I would recommend that any of my friends go see Rafael for a tattoo. I first went to Venus Modern Body Arts to get my rook and lobes pierced by Rob, who was amazing. He was very gentle and did a great job on the placement (they are now my favorite piercings!). I never really thought of getting a tattoo here because to me, it was just a piercing shop; plus, I was pretty happy with the tattoos I had and didn't feel the need to try a new place for my next one. Then one day, a friend of mine decided to get a small tattoo here, and I went with her. I ended up getting a small thing on my ankle. I was so impressed by how nice Ralph was and how well the small tattoos came out that I went back a couple days later for another one. I brought in the design I wanted, and he redrew it, changing it slightly (and checking the drawing with me) so I wouldn't have the exact same tattoo as someone else. This was my first color tattoo, so I was kind of nervous, but I trusted Ralph to color it in well, so I gave him a general idea of the colors I wanted used and let him do his thing. He did such an amazing job--I'm so in love with the end result! The shading and blending of the colors is gorgeous, and it's a really vibrant design. Not only is the tattoo amazing, but the experience was also one to remember. As I mentioned earlier, Ralph is super nice (he asked me several times if I was ok, and he invited me to let him know if I was ever too uncomfortable, which I never was), and he really listens to what you want. Wow, I usually never bother actually writing a review or rating a business. I actually stumbled onto this yellow pages site and decided to look up a couple of things. When I noticed Venus in the body piercing/tattoo section, i clicked on it to read what was there. I was very surprised to read a negative review about Ronda. You see, I've had the pleasure of being tattooed by her twice this past year and I gotta say the two reviews under this one do NOT add up at all. Ronda conducted the entire process(from making the appt., to actually getting the tattoo) with the utmost professionalism. She took the idea I had verbally and turned it into an amazing 100% custom tattoo. I can't stress enough how happy and satisfied I am with all of the work I received from Ronda. I even visited her months after the first tattoo to tell her how happy I was with it. When she looked it over, she told me it needed a little touch up. This was news to me because I thought it looked fantastic. That's the kind of professional she is. So she fit me into her busy schedule, quite promptly I must add and gave me the touch up that was needed. Like I said before, I usually don't write reviews like this, but if you don't know Ronda and her caliber of work, then you need to know what an injustice the negative review below this one is. I definitely come to the conclusion that NYCtat2 and latenighter are one and the same person. I even doubt the authenticity of the review, suggesting rather it is a personal attack of some kind. I have doubts that the individual was even tattooed. If there is any truth in how they say they were handled, I'd have to say they were probably pushy, arrogant, ignorant and rude, with an "I'm the most important person on earth" attitude. In closing I will say that anyone who chooses not to seek out and form their own opinion on something they want based on a review they read on a website, is an ignorant individual themselves and does not deserve the pleasure of meeting such a professional as Ronda and will probably miss out on a lot in life too...
