I had an issue with my piercing, and I came to Studio 28 to purchase proper cleaning products for my piercing. They took their time to explain the prognosis of my piercing -whether it was infected or not. They also gave me a few generous tips of what I could do to keep up with the cleaning! My boyfriend came with me on Tuesday afternoon to get my Septum pierced and I am super content with not only my new piercing but the whole experience! Kirsten was my piercer and she was the best! She was super sweet, very informative and she answered all of my questions! She reassured me that everything will be okay due to the fact that I was nervous lol. A fantastic place. I booked my appointment from the other side of the world basically but felt like studio 28 was around the corner. They listened to all my ideas and were fully on board, keeping me informed and valuing my ideas. The design that Rafael produced was unreal-- it was so much better than I could have dreamed of and so creatively done to also represent my personality. My actual tattoo day was great- there was no rushing, I had time to sit and check my design without pestering, we discussed ant adaptations and my thoughts before we began. I got an industrial piercing done here by Kirsten last week. This studio is by far the best place in New York (trust me, I checked out seven before deciding)! The staff is extremely kind and professional and the studio is pristine. I brought my mom with me, a very anti-modifications woman, and she felt comfortable there! I recommend this place to anyone getting their first piercing or hundredth! They're all fantastic at Studio 28. I don't live in New York, but Kirsten recommended a place in my hometown I could go to if I had any problems with the healing and couldn't make it up. Great piercing job, the guy Salyor was very professional and he made sure that I felt comfortable with everything. The reason I am taking off two stars is because the lady at the front was so rude it was appalling. She gave sarcastic remarks to all my questions. For example, asking about why the pricing was so much came with a sarcastic response about how this was a 'high quality shop that deserves respect'. Wtf? Obviously I wouldn't go if I didn't trust it. It was so annoying that I felt the need to place this here... so if you're looking for the best customer service available all around, avoid.Other than that they did a good job with the piercing. Got my first tattoo at Studio 28 back in January '16.I live in Seattle and spent MLK weekend in New York. I found out about this place thanks to the many positive online reviews and after browsing their website I decided one of their tattoo artists, Rafael, would have been great to work with. I emailed Rafael on Tuesday asking for his availability and to show him the design I was considering. On Wednesday I had a quote and an appointment. On Saturday I had a brand new tat all taped up and good to go on my right arm. Rafael re-designed, tweaked and adjusted the design until I was genuinely happy with it. All of his tools were perfectly sterilized and he was professional and informative throughout the whole session. The price I was asked for the tattoo was absolutely fair.My tattoo healed beautifully and I would definitely recommend Rafael to any tattoo newbie getting the nervous sweats about making the first step and going through with it :) Read Less

Don't recommend this place at all. Horrible service for just a normal ear piercing with more than $200 charged I total. When they adjusted my earrings after piercing for months, my ear started to bleed and hurt terribly . Also be aware of the additional charge ($20) every time for any follow up without any notice ahead. You would just be told that you can have them professionally changed/taken off/put back the earrings for you, but they will never tell you that it would occur additional fee on it. And they put the original earrings really tight that you may have no choice but pay them to take this off in several months. Read Less

I can not say enough positive things about Studio 28! TJ was so patient and helpful as he went through my piercing options (I was quite indecisive) and Kirstin did an absolutely awesome job at piercing, the ear piercing I got is my favorite one yet. They both paid really close attention to detail and listened closely as I described what I was looking for. Kirstin also looked up and informed me of a piercing studio of the same caliber in my area should I want to get my jewelry downsized (I am from out of town). The customer service really went above and beyond, it was so evident that the staff weren't there to just get me in and out. I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience here that I HAD to say something!  I have been to four tattoo studios and artists and Studio 28 is my favorite so far. Amber was easy to work with - I went in last week and she got me on the schedule for Monday, picked out an artist for me (since I didn't have a preference), and took my deposit. When I returned on Monday, I handed her the exact design I wanted (a favorite quote written in my mother's handwriting) and she scanned in the image, cleaned it up a bit, and confirmed with me that what I saw on the computer screen was what I wanted. She then passed along the image to the artist. Jason did my tattoo and he was great! I felt very comfortable working with him. Artists I have worked with at other shops have tried to tweak what I wanted to fit their style or didn't seem very interested in tattooing me because I just wanted words and not something they could add to their portfolio, but I didn't get that same vibe here at all. Jason ensured that the design was exactly what I wanted - size, location, font, orientation, etc. He was great to talk to and he did an awesome job - my mom was SO excited to see the tattoo knowing it was her handwriting. It is exactly what I wanted!  Jason was also very honest, which I loved. I had wanted a wrist tattoo touched up from a few years ago and he told me that the original artist didn't do a very good job and recommended that I have it redone, rather than retouched. I appreciated his honesty. He redid the tattoo and it looks ten times better than it did the first time. He has a steady hand and I am excited to have found an artist I trust!Overall, the shop was well-organized, efficient, clean, and well-located. Excellent excellent place. The minute you walk in, the place is very clean and the piercers are very welcoming. I originally came for my cousin and sister, but ended up changing my two cartilage piercings that I received back in Washington less than two weeks ago. My cartilage piercings were done with a gun and regular studs which the piercers there recommended to switch to flat backs and better jewelry quality even though the piercings were not healed at all. My ear felt immediately better after switching. After seeing my sister get her forward helix, I fell in love with it and came back the next day to get mine as well. Saylor was amazing and made sure it was quick but beautiful. One thing I admire about this shop is all the workers are honest and want what is best for the clients. Instead of lying to the clients about what might look good for the sake of money like other piercing shops, Studio28 is purely honest and only wants the clients' experience to be the best. They make sure the client receives the best care, along with what would look best. Saylor also recommended me places in Seattle that are awesome in case something goes wrong when I go back home. I had such a great experience here! I had done a lot of research to where I wanted to get my tattoo because I wanted a very specific style that I could not find locally. They did not disappoint! I had Jason do my tattoo and he is an amazing artist! It came out exactly how I wanted. Everyone made me feel welcome and comfortable...like I had known them for years...which was very important to me as I was there by myself in nyc for the first time and very nervous. This place is great! I came here to get my nose pierced and had a wonderful experience. They have such a great selection of jewelry and the guy at the front was super helpful in my choice! I was going to request saylor but decided against it because he was with someone but the lady who pierced me was awesome! The place is so clean and she carefully explained everything that was happening and it only hurt for a minute. Now a week later it doesn't hurt at all and is healing wonderfully! I'm so excited to come back in a few months and switch out all my jewelry for all my piercings (like I said the selection is great) both the guy and girl who pierce are awesome and professional as is the guy up front and I'm going to make this place my go-to parlor. Overpriced. Went in there to get 3 circles and some waterbrush paint on my hand to my forearm. Was quoted for 400 dollars ! I was like wow ok I guess this guy is a really great artist. He said it would take about 2 hours. Do the math. Well I wasn't completely confident about the watercoloring and decided to just get the circles which took about a half hour to tat. Basically asked him how much credit I had left considering I gave them 400 dollars for 3 circles. He said come ba...ck and get something and will work it out. Came back and got about 4 stars that took about a half all in all I was probably in the chair getting tatted for about 45 mins for 400 dollars. I understand he had to draw some stuff up and prep but none of it should of been that time consuming to where it would be costly. I got my helix pierced just 2 hours ago and my only regret is not getting my photo taken with Saylor, I am very happy for having met him :) He is so comforting and such a professional that you trust him in an instant. Also, I didn't feel any discomfort (happy to report there is still none) beyond a little pinch and that was it! There is some construction going on nowadays, so you might miss the signs. You'll receive a warm welcome at the reception and you'll get all your questions answered. Application was very sterile: Saylor wore two pairs of gloves, opened all packages in front of me, sterilized everything again, and also sterilized the area of application. This place was great! My request email was answered quickly and I was able to walk right in. The location itself is bright and clean and the vibe made me feel very comfortable. Saylor was an absolute delight and the placement of my tragus piercing perfectly matches the other side. He put me at ease from the start and was done in moments. I came here to get a new navel ring and get my eyebrow pierced. The service at the front desk was very helpful and informative. I'm pretty heavily pierced and have been to a few studios in NYC. I found this to have the best selection of reasonable priced and good quality jewelry. Saylor did my brow and totally killed it. By far it was the least painful piercing I've ever gotten. Wanted a "last minute" tattoo with my girlfriend while on holiday in NYC and discovered the place through google maps. I was hesitant at first but seeing that the location was professional and clean put me at ease. The staff is very patient and they really listen to your needs. I wanted to get a new navel ring and usually have a habit of going to saint marks since I can go to a handful of places with different jewelry options. I like to switch it out often so I don't like to get anything expensive but they had a beautiful collection here. I thought I would maybe treat myself. I'm usually into dangling pieces but they had a unique one that mimicked the dangling but without the actual hanging off part of it. It really is high quality. I forgot who took care of me but he helped me choose a color. I appreciated how sanitary they were. I couldn't touch the jewelry and I couldn't put it in myself . At first I was like wtf but I'm glad they take health code seriously. I love unique pieces and I am so happy. No more cheap pieces , that's for sure. Read Less

I got my Daith piercing done on Thursday by Kirsten. Let me begin by saying as soon as I walked in I was received with a big smile by the owner!! I had called two days prior and all my questions were answered in detail and Kirsten was very pleasant on the phone. My piercing experience was the best here from beginning to end!  I had my nipples pierced 6 months ago elsewhere by an awesome piercer who's worldwide known. He was great and made me feel comfortable but the company he works under needs a lot of work with custom service and making people feel welcome. I really like this place!  I had a tattoo done here a few years ago - it has held up nicely!  I went back in for earrings - I needed 4 for my earlobes and 1 for my daith.  Loved the selection and the young lady helping me was super friendly and helpful.  Saylor changed out my earrings for me, and he was nice too - we chatted the whole time and I could tell he wanted to get the fit just right.  I had gotten my conch done a few months ago in Austin and decided to go back and see if they could switch that earring out yet too.  It was still too new, but they ordered the ring I wanted (to match the others, of course) and are having it made and shipped out to me.  High quality stuff and staff.  I will be back! I sent an email Tuesday to make an appointment for either some day or next day. I received a follow up email within a couple of hours, very quick response. For piercings they take walk in from I believe 1:30-7? I went to he business, very clean and neat my piercing was 60 dollars and included basic jewelry. The wait was not long , I waited about 5 mins. My piercer was great ! He waited for me to sit in the room and showed me how all the tools were clean and unopened before my arrival . I was pretty nervous to get my nipple pierced. It was actually a re piercing but I was super nervous because I remember the pain from the first time . He walked me through some breathing exercises to calm me down and before you knew it he was already done ! Quick and efficient! I am from California visiting for the week. I have had my first (four) tattoos and first (four) piercings done at Studio 28. All my experiences here have been equally professional as they were enjoyable. The staff at Studio 28 is some without a doubt, some of the friendliest people you can meet. They are open to talk and discuss any inquiries or concerns you may have. When I thought one of my ear piercings may have been infected, Kirsten (I’m hoping I didn’t butcher their name, if so I am sorry!) listened to my onslaug...ht of questions and quickly triage my ear. TL;DR no infection and just had to switch to a long back piece. Not to mention they put up with me nonstop talking/jitters just before my piercings tonight. Jason gave me my first tattoos over a year ago and I still love them to this day. I do have to say watch out for TJ. Give him long enough, and he will talk you into getting something done before leave the building; as I just had my nipples done tonight. I was recently (3/11/17) pierced at Studio 28. About six of my girlfriends also got pierced (mostly ear and one genital). All members of the staff were super professional, personable, knowledgeable and strategic with placement. As a doctor, I really appreciate the attention to cleanliness, the packaging of the instruments, the detailed explanation of the instruments/process/aftercare and the piercing artist's specific attention to piercing placement regarding each of our individual anatomy. After trying another shop who's process was convoluted, we were immediately impressed by the ease of appointment scheduling. We sent reference pics, made our deposit, and we're all set! When the day came, everyone at the shop was nice, welcoming, and hilarious! My husband wanted his artist (Jason) to come up with something and have fun with the design and the outcome was amazing! Now he wants to come back to Jason for all his work and said that it was the most pleasant (which is hard for tattooing) experience he's ever had. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by two very nice and sweet people!They have a waiting couch area while you wait for your person. The girl at the front desk not only guided me through the process but was really friendly and patient! Also.... I was getting a single ear piercing...so not exactly a high paying customer, but they were still great!While I waited I watched the front desk people work with everyone who came in, patiently took care of their concerns, made jokes to the people waiting, made everyone comfortable etc. I was taken to a room on the side where the girl piercing my ear explained everything, made nice chit chat, it was all super clean...and the next thing I knew I was done...probably less than 2 minutes...and I didn't feel a thing.
