The Sarah Gaugler Experience : I came across Sarah when I was researching artists who have worked with Baybayin & were unique artists. I found her on Instagram and was drawn to her work. I also preferred a female artist who I could trust and relate to. Sarah culminated all of the above. Patricia, her assistant, was very responsive and was able to find me a date relatively quickly despite Sarah’s booked schedule. From the moment you walk into the studio, behind the black unmarked door, with a simple sign that says “appointments only”, I felt welcomed. The white private studio was very chill, chandelier overhead, Buddha snow globe patiently smiling at you while you have a seat on her couch, and some music playing in the background. Sarah was amazing, she was able to tie all my ideas together to create a beautiful ohm/lotus/Baybayin script on my shoulder. I did not feel rushed at all. She took her time designing the unique piece. The energy in the room was positive, we connected, laughed, and told stories of our backgrounds. Sarah is very warm and inviting, her creativity and talent is beyond amazing... By the time she started tattooing, she was like a surgeon, she made sure to prep you and make sure the area was sterile, then she worked with utmost precision, paying attention to the minute details. The tattoo session was not rushed and she made sure I was comfortable. The setting was intimate and felt like a meditation session. She was vibing off all the positive energy in the room to channel it into the beautiful creation on my shoulder. I did not look until the piece was completely finished. The anticipation brought me back to when I was little, restless to go to sleep on Christmas Eve, nervous & giddy. When I saw the finished piece, my heart was overjoyed, just like opening presents on Christmas morning. I have been to Snow Tattoo's private shop 3 times and each tattoo I had made by Sarah Gaugler was beyond my expectations. From the first day I found her on instagram, I was already hooked and wanted her work on my skin. I enjoy the collaborative way she designs my tattoos, it makes me feel more connected with how it was made and feels much more personal. Sarah is extremely clean, her shop is so white and her methods for skin prep mirror that of a patient getting ready for surgery. Her art style matches perfectly with what I have been searching for in a tattoo artist. As you can see from the pictures I included, she really takes the time to make each piece as intricate and detailed as possible within my budget. I never feel rushed getting a tattoo from her, sometimes I even feel like the work should have been done much sooner but she keeps wanting to go back to flesh in more detail and shading (THIS IS A GOOD THING). The way the lines flow but remain bold enough to stand out, plus the cleanliness of the line work are part of why I think she is one of the top tattoo artists in NYC. Her art style is definitely unique and the comments I get from people in public have been very positive. If not for her tattoos, I don't think people would be randomly coming up to me to make small talk. She is definitely helping eliminate the stigma that people with tattoos should be avoided. I could not be happier with my new tattoo! The whole process was excellent and very professional. To start, Patricia, Sarah's assistant, was very responsive and extremely polite and patient, answering all my questions before booking the appointment. The day of the tattoo was just a blast. I went from Baltimore to New York to get the tattoo done, and it was totally worthy. Sarah's studio makes you feel so confortable. Getting a tattoo from Sarah was one of my most memorable experiences in NYC. From the moment I entered her studio until we finished the session, I felt really at ease. What I find admirable about the process is how Sarah builds a relationship with her clients first and how she makes them comfortable before she begins her work of art. I already knew what I wanted and she incorporated everything I told her and added her own touch which I really loved. The tattoo turned out so great!!!
