This shop has a great atmosphere, from the receptionist to the person performing the piercing everyone was really nice. I was visiting N.Y. for the first time and decided to get a tattoo that i've been thinking of for the longest time. I did a quick google search and came to this location and was quickly impressed on how friendly, helpful and passionate the staff were about their work. The artist that did my tattoo is named Igor and he was able to take the scrambled ideas i had in my head and piece them together to make tattoo that i am in love with. Clearly dedicated to his art. Shop itself is mad cool, playing lofi hip hop in the background I did my paperwork on an IPad in like 30 seconds and enjoyed a free coffee. They have a very open, lofty space that makes the tattoo process more comfortable, especially when you have to sit for a couple hours. They have a bunch of great piercers on staff too judging by the foot traffic and happy customers (I saw like 4 piercings in the 20 minutes I was waiting for Igor to tweak the design and set up). Came here when I noticed my naval piercing looking not quite the way it should, was suspecting that is was rejecting. Came in and asked if I can ask for an opinion, waited about 15 min because the piercer was busy. He saw my piercing and said it was rejecting and it needs to come out and he did it for me. had an absolutely amazing experience with Starr at Pure Body Arts! They do walk-ins so I went after work one day, and was seen within 20 minutes. I'm new to piercing, and Starr was WONDERFUL! She worked with me on a piercing design that would heal nicely and look fantastic, based on a bunch of pictures I brought in, and never made me feel rushed or tried to push me to spend outside my budget range. After some discussion and Instagram stalking, I ended up getting 2 piercings on my helix (I think) and one in the conch. Starr helped me choose jewelry that would look good together, and my piercings look AMAZING. I keep getting compliments from everyone! She happily answered all of my questions about cleanliness/sterilization and walked me through the piercing to make sure I was comfortable. I got an industrial piercing a few days ago and I'm so glad I came to this place. Starr (the lady that gave me the piercing) was super nice and gentle and answered all my dumb questions with no problem. She also gave me her contact info and assured me it was ok to contact her for anything. She even told me I could go back in case I had any problems w my piercing. I've come to this tattoo shop a couple of times to get my septum pierced/septum stretched and the professionalism that the piercer (I believe her name is Star) has is AMAZING! She was very thorough and kind. She gave me tips to heal and not to mention my septum piercing which is now an 8G looks amazing! Thank you Star! I got my tragus done here a few years ago by this really nice guy (forgot his namr) and had a great experience (friendly, informative, sterile, good placement etc).While I didn't get anything done today I was so impressed by Star's proffesionalism! I went today planning on getting 2 piercings (more than $140) and she easily could have just done the piercings and taken my money. Instead she made sure to tell me I would not be able to swim for 6 months aka the summer. I have a trip to Hawaii in 2 months and have every intention to swim so after talking a bit I decided to wait. She was so nice about it, told me to come back when I was ready. Had my first session yesterday with Camila Rocha. Wow what a great experience. Working with the crew at Sacred was great. Awesome communication leading up to the appointment. I am getting a full sleeve done and Camila and Chris were amazing to work with. I was traveling in for the appointmen was great to have everything prepared and lined up so we were ready to go. Camila is amazing to watch work and what an artist. She was able to capture exactly what I was looking fo...r and spent so much time getting it just right. She hand drew a lot of the other things I was looking for and even stayed late so we could finish the outline up. The first time I came to Sacred Tattoo was about 2 years ago when I first got my nipple piercings. I had read amazing reviews about Star and wanted her to tell me if my piercings were bad or if I was just freaking out. She was very informative and let me know that they didn't look too bad but that 1 was a bit far apart, I decided to take them out and was told that she will do them for me the proper way if I waited 6 months.I didn't go back until June of this year, Star was on vacation but I was taken care of by her friend who was great. Unfortunately while doing the piercing I moved a bit causing one to be slanted, so I decided to have it redone right then and there as I knew i wouldn't return.The female piercer (sorry I can't think of her name) was great, she was extremely patient and informative as well. I was very happy with both piercings afterwards.For my monthly checkup I was able to meet with Star again and i explained to her my concerns and she put all my worries aside.I'd definitely recommend this place for piercings. Starr is an actual godsend for those who are new to piercings, squeamish about piercings or have had bad piercing experiences in the past. A couple of months ago, I got my piercing done on a whim in my dirty college town tattoo parlor by a guy in my French class. (Great decision making, I know.)  Needless to say, it wasn't the best experience and I had to take it out because it was rejecting/infected. Flash-forward a year and I decide that I missed my nip piercings, so I wanted to get them re-done. Still reeling from my traumatic experience in the past, I was hesitant until I found Starr on Yelp. Let me tell you - thank god I did. As I sat down in my chair waiting for Starr, one of her clients saw how nervous I was and decided to rave to me about how great Starr is with her clients. In walks Starr and she is everything I could ask for. Her ridiculously friendly demeanor put me at ease right away. She is very informative about how the procedure will go which makes you so much more comfortable about her piercing knowledge. She even goes as far as asking you personal questions regarding past piercing experiences, pain thresholds (ect..) to make sure she makes this experience specific to YOU. The procedure itself was terribly painful, as expected. Luckily, they put you in a soundproof room to muffle your screams (LOL). However, Starr was the reason I didn't completely hate myself post piercing.  She is the perfect example of great customer service- she even offered to check my piercings out before I go on vacation in 2 months AND hung out with me for 15 solid minutes post-piercing  because I had to lie down from nausea. Overall, both nips cost me a solid $110 (not including tip) BUT if you're looking for a great piercing experience with a knowledgeable and genuinely nice person- head to Starr. She's  a gem and I'm planning on making her my permanent piercer. Read Less

When I first walked up, I thought I made a huge mistake. It's a single doorway with one little sign. I almost missed it and it looks super shady.Walk up a flight of stairs and turn left, and you'll find yourself in a huge, spacious, clean tattoo studio with gorgeous wood floors and amazing decor. The guy behind the counter (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) is helpful, professional, and most importantly - super nice.I have to admit, I was nervous that Jessica V. might be stuck up. I know tattoo artists with half of her talent and name recognition, and some of them are insufferable.Fortunately, I was wrong. She is so incredibly kind, funny, and sweet. She specializes in cartoons, colors, and everything creepy/kawaii. We spent most of my session talking about bad horror movies and Edward Scissorhands.The piece she came up with was even more adorable and awesome than I pictured in my mind. She worked quickly but she didn't rush, if that makes sense. My tattoo is on my foot, and was VERY painful, but she has a light touch and knows how to ink - she was able to finish the tattoo without making me tap out, even though I was considering it!I adore the finished product. The team at Sacred Tattoo are professionals from beginning to end. My wife and I have been here twice and had terrific experiences both times. We were greeted immediately upon arrival by friendly front desk staff. Both times we knew what elements we wanted included in our tattoos, as well as approximate size and placement, but struggled with composition. The artists are knowledgable and willing to work with you and design something that will satisfy your requirements, but als...o suit your body, be readable and attractive, and age well. Her artist was Mark Ford, and mine was Jessica V. Even though we were walk-ins, we were accommodated within an hour both times. The shop itself is clean, comfortable, and spacious- even the restrooms. They explain the aftercare instructions thoroughly- you are given the packet before you even get in the chair, and they make sure you fully understand what you're taking on. The paperwork is thorough, and everyone is competent and personable. The entire experience was pleasant, and the tattoos are GORGEOUS. Exceeded my wildest dreams. From the colors to the lines to the small details, it's just clean and completely flawless. We couldn't be happier and we'll certainly be back. I'm sure other customers will complain about the prices, but this is a piece of art you will wear on your body forever. Consider it an investment. Went over to Social Club because I work down the block and assumed the best artists must be there because of the tv show. Showed the picture I wanted tattooed and I felt I was sold really hard. The guy at the front desk gave me a quick quote and I felt like I wasn't really being heard or catered to. Figured if Im about to spend almost a G that I should get to ask more questions. Didn't feel there was any room for that. Someone told me about Jon Mesa over at Sacred Tattoo. I met him and not only is he a cutie pie and super laid back, he listened to my concerns (I'm a dark skinned black woman that wanted color in my tat. He gently explained that artistically it wouldnt be as vibrant as i wanted. Truthfully so did the guy at Wooster but when he said it it felt so final. Jon listened as I asked many questions. Then he said the words I needed to hear- he understood what i wanted, he promised to make the piece pretty and romantic! SOLD! My money goes to Jon. Started my tat this past Friday, I was offered a snack, joked with the guy at the desk. I was a bit impatient but Jon calmly did my tat. I finish next 2 weeks and I want to get more. This is the best place for full sleeves and full back work. My friend got one sleeve here and then came back the next month for the other. He was just planning on having one but they made it so comfortable for him, and he was so happy with the look of it that he had the other done as well. I have gone to them for a lower back piece I am having done, I still have to get it finished but that's on me because of my schedule, not anything to do with them. We were in NYC on a weekend vacation. We initially walked in to get out of the pouring rain. The shop was very clean and spacious. The front desk was very pleasant. We looked through the artists portfolios. All of them had very nice work. The last one belonged to Shey. I was unable to speak with him as he was busy tattooing. I returned later that night to speak with him and had nothing but good vibes from him and the shop. I returned the following day. I should mention that they opened the shop an hour and a half early to accomodate my schedule. If you go to there website, you can find my tattoo under Shey portfolio - joker. I have many tattoos and this one is by far my favorite. Not many artist can do portraits, but Shey is amazing. I highly recommend this shop for anyone looking to get a tattoo. I came into your shop back in mach of 09' and was just a walk in. I was impressed by the cleanliness and professionalism of your parlor. Kevin and Matt were the most curtious guys I've ever encountered in my whole tattoo experience. I've been getting tatts since 1982, and you all are by far the best. Matt did two memorial peices on my forearms, commemorating the passing of both my Mother and Husband. He took his time to get them perfect. He is an extraordinary artist and since then, I have recommended him, and the studio, to many admirers. SACRED is now the only studio I will get my work done. I had some work done there along time ago by a guy named Adal. He was great with color and design. I lost track of him after 3 pieces he did on me (about 10 hrs of work) and the shop seems to have moved. He was in Williamsburg for a bit on Havermeyer, but that was back in the early 2000s. Read Less
