Very nice place to get tattoos and all sorts of body piercings done. As soon as I walked in, I could already tell that the workers were very clean and friendly. I didn't book an appointment whatsoever, but they took me in 5 minutes after I signed some papers for them. The man who pierced my ears was very informative and made the whole process comfortable for me, because I've never had my ears pierced with a needle before, but with piercing guns. You get what you pay for. My tattoo was super rushed. The line work and black work are both horrible.  There are squiggly lines and gaps everywhere; the receptionist kept telling the artist to "hurry up" when he was working on my tattoo.  This is getting covered up for sure. Read Less

My "septum" was pierced totally wrong, so far down it was falling out of my nose and very far back. When I returned to have the jewelry out the guy who must be the owner wouldn't let me speak and kept talking over me, insisting that I "just didn't like it" and in 3 weeks he would do it in almost the same spot. At that point I yes'd him and then consulted the piercer at the place I recently got a tattoo and was very satisfied. He couldn't believe where it was pierced and spent... time with me, checking my anatomy and told me to wash it for a week and then come back and he would do it. So I forfeited my money to come back to the place this review is about, since the guy is either an ass and wouldn't admit he was wrong but blamed ME or has no clue what he was doing. This place is awesome...I took my daughter to get her navel pierced for her birthday and searching for the perfect place was very important to me as a mom. I came across Skin Konviction studio and looked them up with reviews and I gotta say this place was awesome. Very clean, very professional..staff was friendly.. young lady that attended us was super friendly and answered any questions we had before the process. Our piercer Dave was awesome. Very professional, explained the process in detail and was very informative on aftercare instructions on do's and dont's. Has anyone else noticed that every tattoo is the same color? Sky = dark red, human = dark red, skull = dark red, the list goes on. There are a lot of talented tattoo artists in NY that can do more than one style. I've stopped in here before, seen a lot of the work and find it very underwhelming. Read Less

Couldn't be more horrified with my experience. My boyfriend and I went in to get matching tattoos. I'd like to mention that a $60 minimum for even the tiniest tattoo is a bit ridiculous as well. We got them on our fingers, the King and Queen of hearts. I  have many other tattoos, as well as one on my finger, so I know how to care for them and what to expect. At first the tattoos looked decent, and after only a few days we noticed they weren't exactly up to par. My boyfriend's heart was completely infected and is barely noticeable only after a month. My heart is very light and on various parts of the Q you can clearly tell that it was done sloppy. Has nothing to do with the placement or the healing process, the tattoos were just done badly. I went in with my boyfriend to calmly and politely discuss this and ask if it would be possible to get them fixed because it was clearly his fault they didn't look the way they should, and we were laughed at by him, the girl at the desk, and whoever he was tattooing. We were told we could pay full price again to have them fixed. This is absolutely ridiculous. They should have been done right the first time, and he didn't even stand up to look at them or acknowledge that he messed up. We're now forced to go somewhere else to fix them. We were ridiculed for what, the fact that he messed up our tattoos? Safe to say I'm never coming here again. Read Less

Ok so contrary to most people who plan out their piercings/tattoos in advance, I decided out of the blue that I wanted to get my conch piercing done. It was in the middle of finals week for me and I had so much work to do, but I decided that I had nothing to lose. Living in the Fresh Meadows area, there's not a lot of selection in terms of tattoo/piercing places, so after doing some research on yelp and some calling, I confirmed that Skin Konviction was still doing piercings, unlike closer tattoo parlor near my house. I called beforehand to ask about whether I should make an appointment or not, but the lady on the phone just told me to come in whenever. My piercer was Dave and he really made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I have to admit, the night before, I was up watching YouTube videos on all the possible scenarios that could possibly go wrong with an infected piercing, and no lie, I walked in there strongly doubting my last minute decision. But Dave assured me that if you take good care of your piercing and soak it in saline solution everyday, most of that should not happen. Bleeding is normal and yes it's easy to scare yourself sh*tless before you actually go through with the procedure, but just remember pain is a necessary part of any piercing and tattoo, and that with good care, you can avoid issues in the future.Anyways, back to my visit. Dave sat me down in one of the rooms after I signed in. Also I had came in with trainer earrings in my earlobe that I have not taken out in the last 5 years. I had attempted to take them out a year ago, but it has been so long since the initial pierce date that I was almost certain that the earrings were stuck together in some form. Dave offered to take a look and help me get them out-turns out there was maddd buildup in the back part of the earring (disgusting, I know) and with his help, he finally was able to take them out. Thank you Dave! The piercing procedure itself didn't really hurt too much-all you feel is a slight pinch and warmness to your ears. Dave seems to know what he's doing and the entire process was really quick. The equipment also seemed clean, which was also my main concern because I definitely didn't want to get infected at some shady parlor. The piercing cost me $40, but with tip, it was around $53 total. They also offer other sorts of piercings (female genital piercings, anyone?) for a higher price if you're into that kind of stuff. Honestly I would recommend Skin Konviction to anyone who's looking for a reputable, clean place to get some ink or piercings done. I even got a follow up call the next day asking how my piercing was. Decided to get my navel pierced again after my body rejected my first one 5 years ago. Was a little concerned about having allergies to certain metals but Dave reassured me that all his rings were made of surgical steel and most people don't have any reaction to it.I just walked in to inquire but ended up getting pierced 20 minutes later! Dave is quick, knowledgable, and experienced! He made me feel comfortable and kept asking me if I felt okay. Piercing hurt really bad cus I had to pierce over scar tissue, but overall, I was very pleased with my experience here! Will definitely consider getting more piercings and possibly more tattoos here. I can't express just how much I LOVE the tattoo that I had done here recently! The staff are all really nice and don't make you feel uncomfortable for being there. My artist, Demian, was really awesome. My piece took about 4hrs to have completed but it was worth every minute. He jokes around with you, makes conversation, and makes sure that you are comfortable with everything going on. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is looking to get something done!The studio itself is very well kept, and you are sure to see that all the equipment is very clean as well. I was feeling spontaneous one weekday night, and decided to get my navel pierced here. They were very accommodating on such short notice, and I found myself getting seated right away upon arriving 15 minutes after I called. They were quick, clean, and professional. The options for starter jewelry were lacking in variety, but I didn't really mind since it came free with the $40 piercing. (All other places seemed to charge anywhere from $10 to $20 extra for jewelry.) I ended up having a mild allergic reaction to the traces of nickel in the stainless steel, though, and had to get it switched out for a bioplast one. But overall, I had a good experience and would consider coming back for when I decide to get my nose pierced. Read Less

Holy moly... I got a small, spontaneous-outofthemoment, tattoo here with a friend and Chico, the artist, inked me so perfectly. I must give credit to his steady hands for making absolutely smooth lines without a single booboo bump on the road. Also to note, he listened to what i wanted during consulting instead of treating me like a non-tattooing customer and hurrying to kick us out like most tattoo shops do. Got my second tattoo here and I wish I had went here for my first! I live in the area and wanted to find a good shop close to home, and this seems to be the one! Dave was awesome, he has a great talent and is a true artist (you can see some of his work on their website). He was also real, honest and very knowledgable which is a great quality to have and to look for in an artist. He told me the correct size to get, explained why to go with that size and took the time to work with me. I didnt feel rushed, didnt feel like he was pushy and didnt feel like he looked down on me because I dont match the typical tattoo person.  My tattoo came out awesome!! Overall I was very happy with my experience here, and I definitely will be back for my next tattoo. TIPS:1- I definitely recommend setting up an appointment if your going to come here.2- Make sure you park in the spots designated for the shop. I recently found Skin Konviction through a friend of mine who gets his work done here. Every single one of his pieces look amazing so I decided to give this place a try for my 10th tattoo. When I first got to the shop I noticed that it was a bit on the small side. It's like a little hallway that leads to the back where the tattooing happens. Dave and Justen (the only two artists) at the shop were really cool. They took a look at the pictures I brought in and brainstormed to come up with a piece that would not only fit the spot I chose but would also look amazing given the amount of room they had to work. I came back the next week and they had the design drawn up and were ready to go. I had Justen tattoo me and I couldn't have had a better experience. The dude was laid back and put me right at ease with his humor. The tattooing area is extremely clean and even though the guys are laid back, they are still absolute professionals. The music is still pretty chill. They mixed it up with some rap, r&b and some occasional house music to keep things interesting. My girlfriend saw what an amazing spot it was and instead of just keeping me company, she decided to get some work done of her own. This spot is clean, there's convenient parking available, and most importantly, the artists are friendly and TALENTED.Im definitely coming here for my next tattoo. Read Less
