Joel is very professional, and brings a warm welcome when you enter his shop. Set you at ease when you sit in his chair to get a tattoo. His work is very good and has a very light hand. I just got home from getting my tattoo. I have to assume it was Joel but he never introduced himself or even gave me his name. I called ahead this morning to see if I could do a walk in, I told him what I wanted and he said he could fit me in around 5:30. Naturally I arrive early and he lets me know that he didn't realize how "big" my quote was and he wouldn't have enough time to do that and the image I wanted. No biggie. We condensed the quote and got rid of the image. Doesn't bother me. Just as he was about to tattoo me, he checked my ID. While getting my tattoo, there was little communication between us. He was talking with two other people in the shop. That didn't bother me either. I jumped in where I could. All in all it was a pretty good experience. He didn't give me any after care instructions or have me sign a waiver to get the tattoo. That was a tad bit bothersome. I was shocked by the price but after talking with some of my friends, the price I paid was normal despite that the fact I was there for less than an hour. Every time I've been in pure image, Joel has been very personable and interested in what I had to say. It makes for a great experience and it is not an intimidating atmosphere at all. This is a fantastic shop! The owner, Joel, is an awesome artist that makes sure he's doing a perfect job and that you're completely happy with it from start to finish, he's a total perfectionist. His portfolio is top notch and he loves doing original work. I couldn't be happier with the progress of the piece on my leg, and I'll be back for more tattoos from him after it's done. If you want an artist who has one kick-ass portfolio, is experienced, and has an eye for pure perfection, then this is your place. Joel is really serious about originality, and is amazing at font (lettering). I would recommend this shop to anyone who wants a quality tattoo. He does amazing portraits, and loves doing originals. This was my first tattoo and I had an overall incredible experience! Ben did my tattoo and it came out absolutely beautiful! I couldn't have asked for anything better. He helped me through the process of turning my drawing into a reality. The shop atmosphere was so clean and comfortable and it honestly felt as if I've known both him and Joel for years. They did everything they could to ensure my comfort and to make sure I was in the least amount of pain possible. He was really comforting and accommodating. I'm so happy to have found someone so awesome my first time around and I'll be definitely going to Ben or Joel from now on for any tattoos or piercings I plan to get done. I have been going to Joel for my tattoos for the last 6 years, and have always received incredible artwork.  Joel always pays attention to your vision, is respectful, and pays impeccable attention.  I have been to most of the shops in and around Rochester over the last 10 or so years, lending support to friends and family, and I will say that even though there are some great places where you can get a great tattoo(Lucky Lotus, Love/Hate), but as soon as you walk into the shop you'll know the difference.  It is clean and calm, comfortable, professional, but still intimate.  Here you're getting the experience you want when going to a real high quality shop.  I can't say enough great things about Joel, his artwork, or Pure Image, so do yourself a favor and go see Joel at Pure Image next time you're in the mood for some body art!
